IF we end up getting Flynn, i think that there is NO WAY that we can start the season with Hartline, Bess & Gates. Thats just setting him up for failure from the get go. Now that all the decent FA WRs are gone, should we either

    a. try to trade up ahead of St Louis for Blackmon (I wonder what we would have to give up tp get that high) or
    b. go with Floyd at #8

most people will think that #8 is too high for Floyd, but he has the talent, size & speed to be a good/great NFL #1 WR

It would depend on what a team was asking for us to move up. This draft is well stocked with WR talent so if we were going to take Floyd I'd try and move back a few slots and acquire another pick. If you miss out on Floyd there are plenty of other talented WR's in this draft who fit our offense. Or rather what we expect our offense might be like.

You never know what Ireland is thinking .He suggested we already have our deep threat in Gates and may decide to draft a lineman as he has a couple of times before.

I think whether we get Flynn or Smith, we should still draft Weeden, with our 8.

QB is too important to not have Plans A thru D. There's plenty of WR talent in this draft, and has been discussed before, Philbin's offense doesn't need a Megatron to be successful.

Our team is good enough to compete IF we solve our QB issues. Fortune favors the bold.

I really wouldn't mind drafting Weeden because IMO he is a top five pick if he is 22 and not 28. However....again, if that is the route we want to take I think we can trade back a few slots and acquire another pick while doing so.

Weeden will not last that long. He goes to Cleveland at #22 (or wherever their late first is) at the latest. If Weeden is 22 years old you are talking about him in the same light as Luck and RGIII, probably ahead of RGIII in fact.

You have no idea where he'll go. You lose out on player that could fill the most important position on the team, because of some nebulous perceived draft value?

Deep draft for WR's. And this team needs more then 1. Can draft 2 in rounds 2 and 3 and probably 1 later in the 6th or 7th.

If we can pull it off, fine. Seems unnecessarily risky (if the goal is to get Weeden). If we move back and handful of spots, Cleveland could move up. I say, take the player you want when you pick and quit getting cute.

Well it depends how bad you want Weeden. In my opinion if you miss on him it is fine as long as you have another player rated highly available. In my opinion this is the perfect draft to trade back and acquire picks because SOMEONE at a position of need will be available with your first and you gain an extra pick in a deep draft.

Now if your goal is to only get Weeden then yes it is risky.

Take away the QB position for a minute.

Now compare the starters (not QBs) on this team to the starters on the 11-5 team.

This team we have now goes into the playoffs with stellar QB play. Do we have non QB holes in the roster? Yes. Who doesn't. We must solve the QB spot, every thing else is wasted until that happens.

True but I don't see a solution to our QB problem in the draft honestly. It might be Weeden but the front office has to be absolutely convinced to make that sort of move.

Where does all this love from Weeden come from?

I will say that Weeden does have a nice arm and can make all the throws. But there are plenty of QBs that have a nice arm but don't have other intangibles to make them successful NFL QBs. What are Weeden's intangibles?

Weeden had the best talent around him in college football at the skill positions. He didn't show any improvement his final year from the year before. Weeden is prone to having multiple turnover games. A killer in the NFL. Weeden had 4 multiple interception games last year and 5 the year before, including three 3 interception games over the last two years. Throwing multiple picks in 35% of games and 3 picks in 12% of games when you have the best talent around you in college is not an indication Weeden is worthy of the #2 pick in the draft even if he were 22 years of age.

To read he would be ahead of RG3...Please. Not only is RG3 a better passer, but comparing RG3's mobility to Weeden's is like comparing a rabbit to a snail. The new generation of NFL QBs have the ability to scramble for a first down, escape the rush and extend the play, roll out in designed plays, etc...Weeden can't offer any of that.

As for being a Dolphin, a lot of the plays in Philbin's system at GB predicated on Aaron Rodgers ability to use his feet. Weeden hasn't shown that ability. Weeden also played in a simplified offense at OSU. Not only would Philbin need to probably eliminate plays from the playbook due to Weeden's limited mobility he might also have to dummy down the playbook for him.

Weeden wouldn't even be a 2nd rd qb in any other year. this years qb draft class is not very good outside the top 2-3 qb's. Taking Weeden at #8 would be a horrible pick and will never happen. We could pick Wilson or Foles in the 3rd or 4th rd and try to trade down in the 1st to get Floyd. This is a deep WR class and talent is there all the way back to 4-5th rd's. Jeron Criner would be a great pick in the 4th...has a high ceiling at WR
