I will contend that Miami's quarterback play has been decent in the last two years and not terrible. Especially when it came to getting yards. Randy Moss would still be into the game if he was getting the target and throws that Brandon Marshall received. I would also contend that Randy Moss would have been more successful.
You are entitled to your opinion. I disagree. I believe that our QB play for the most part, has been an abortion the last two years.
Compared to the Raiders? You are also entitled to your opinion, however I do not think the facts back them up. In Randy's "give it up year" his quarterbacks were Andrew Walter and Aaron Brooks. They threw for 6 touchdowns and 24 interceptions. Together they averaged less than 6 yards per completion. They had a completion percentage of around 54. That my friend is an abortion. Edit: With that Randy Moss had as many touchdowns as Brandon Marshall did in 2010 and had about the same touchdown to completion ratio as Brandon had in 2011.
I was not saying you were wrong but I never said yards were the most important stat. Never said receptions were either for that matter. Simple as this. There are too many things to want in a Wr that you almost never get the complete package. Td's and dropping Td's do not say that a Wr is no good or not elite, or better than another.....
I have to disagree. If you had two receivers with similar stats and one drops touchdowns and the other doesn't, then I would say one is better than another.
Nobody is comparing one situation with the other. That is a strawman you erected. If we are talking about facts, i think they support my stance that the Dolphin QB situation has been an abortion the last two years.
That the QB play here that past two years is similar to the QB play of the Raiders the year Moss played.
FTR, I said yards were important, but TDs were more important. Marshall had decent yards last year but was abysmal with TDs. That doesn't equal an exceptional year. You look at TDs first, then yards. You want to see something starting in 1000/10 range. Either number is too far below that and you have a problem.
Bad is Bad. Who cares about degrees? Point is that it was bad enough to keep the team out of the playoffs.
I brought up the Raiders to back up Alex44's point that even the best WR's struggle due to incompetent QB play.
No, he is wrong. As I showed with facts in my post. Period. EDIT: Also, how is then making a comparison that the Raiders were MUCH MUCH WORSE a strawman argument?
If he does that is all well and good and certainly is capable. He didn't do that here though. He was not elite here. How can that be debated?
So true. That would be like me saying I'd be a millionaire if only I had a million dollars. And none of you can tell me differently!
What if he's found guilty of punching a woman in the face and is suspended half the season? Or, what if he keeps up with his insane antics and goes to jail? Will you STFU? 'Cause I bet he he gets suspended before he has 1400 yards and 8 TD's.
trading Marshall for two third rounders made/makes absolutely no sense to me I'm still waiting to hear the Plan behind this masterful move this franchise is becoming more pathetic with each & every stupid move they make Hicks
There have existed in present NFL elite wide receivers who have had great elite seasons with quarterbacks worse than Matt Moore and just as bad as Chad Henne. Last season Larry Fitzgerald had Kevin Kolb (who many on this board use as an example to not get Matt Flynn) and John Skelton. He had 80 catches, 1411 yards, and 8 touchdowns. Larry Fitzgerald is an elite wide receiver. Brandon Marshall is a very good receiver. He is not up there with Larry or Calvin.
Larry, Calvin, and A.J are incredible talents that rarely come around. Their are 29 teams who wish they had a WR like those guys, but that doesn't mean their isn't a HUGE gap between Brandon Marshall and guys like Hartline/Bess. We lost a top WR with no good plan to replace him adequately. This front office makes Rick Speilman look like Ozzie Newsome.
Why because he did not score enough Td's for your liking? His statistics not only say he was but there is much more. Just because the dudes a dick does not mean you take what he did and insist he needs more to be really good.
Because the point was Randy Moss's struggles with poor QB play. Not a QB comparison of Walters and Moore.
I admit I haven't gone back and read your posts so I hope I don't take this out of context. If you are referring to Moss struggling when he was with the Raiders I strongly disagree. My son is a Raider fan and I watched many of the Raiders games when Moss played for them. What Moss struggled with was his attitude and effort. Moss short-armed a lot of balls. Moss had some decent games with the Raiders early on, but once he soured it was rather pathetic to watch him play on the field. I recall one play where he had an easy TD and was led perfectly being wide open. He literally stopped and let the ball go right on by. The Raiders should have sued Moss for breach of contract and Moss should have had to pay the fans for pain and suffering by having to watch his lack of effort on the field.
And if you dug deep into their stats and found that the one who dropped the Td also had 5 more receptions, at very critical times in games, that led to Td's then what? What if one that one Td was a perfect throw, by an elite Qb, and the other hit the Wr in the hands but was clearly a bad pass by a Chad Henne, still developing type, or bad Qb?
