Considering the reduced rookie wage scale that figure (Mario's contract) isn't as impacting as it would've been a couple years ago. It all depends how they draft IMO. If Buffalo drafts well the next few years, then Mario's signing will prove to be a great decision. If they don't draft well, then nothing will matter anyways.
Lol. He's making $16 million a year. Do you really follow your team? EDIT: BlameItOnTheHenne, you've become my 4,000th Fist Pump/Thanks (old system). You've won nothing at all! How do you feel?!?!
Don't forget that defense had no pass rush and was minus one of the best DTs in the NFL (Kyle Williams). Byrd actually improved last year despite his numbers showing it b/c he became a more rounded FS with his development vs the run b/c of the safeties' need in run support. Their corners looked like crap b/c after 6 or 7 seconds every WR breaks open in the NFL w/o a pass rush to slow opposing QBs. With Kyle Williams back, Mario added, and Dareus & Sheppard in their 2nd year, that should be a tough team to run on, especially if the physical Aaron Williams develops at corner. Manageable third and short situations after solid run gains on 1st down aren't gonna happen any more which will now leave Byrd free to roam centerfield rather than playing run/pass. Watch how fast his INTs shoot back up to his rookie form. Then in passing situations how do you stop Mario, Dareus, and Kyle Williams from disrupting and pushing the pocket? That defense is going to be very good very fast.... and physical & stingy. If they re-sign Bell at LT to free up their 1st pick to use on Coples and then add a pass rushing SOLB hybrid like Bruce Irvin in the 2nd, that defense becomes an absolute nightmare.... not to mention there's solid depth at Dline. If Buffalo screws up this opportunity to become a top 3 defense for the next 5 or 6 years then they deserve a demotion to the Arena League. just sayin.
How do you guys have 30 mill in cap space when the new collective bargaining agreement stipulates you have to spend like 95% of it?
Not worried about him personally. He had what? 5 sacks last year. Hasn't played 16 games in a couple of years. No worries. EDIT: they need someone who can snap the ball from what I saw last year.
Is he? I recall Jake handling him and the Texans moving him to the other side the last time they played. Regardless, it's a good signing for Buffalo. That looks to be a scary DL. The fact that they 'overpayed' is largely irrelevant IMO. That's the way it works. You're overpaying in FA and underpaying in the draft.
he was in a 3-4 defense.......he excels in a 4-3 which is what buffalo now plays...... williams, williams, dareus, merriman..... who you gonna double?????
