I find this article very hard to believe. Marino was quoted in an article about being asked to call manning and he said he wouldn't call him but he would definitely talk to manning if Peyton called him. Plus there's a few teams that got turned down from manning and never got to visit him. If Peyton wasn't interested he wouldn't waste our time and his time. Unless I hear from Peyton himself I don't and won't believe anyone else.
Totally agree and I am not going to lie by saying I wouldn't have been tickled pink if we signed him, I would have. But he is still a injury risk and the history of QB's going on to have success changing teams late in their careers is not a good one.
http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolp...ising-manning-unless-asked.html#storylink=cpy It sounded like he said he wouldn't force his advice on him, but that's not what Volin said he did. But does it really matter? He's not coming and we need to move on, if it's with Flynn, great. If with a rookie or Moore, oh well lets hope for the best.
Funny thing is, I recall a quote supposedly from Manning via "anonymous yet quoted source" about how he was impressed with the talent on the roster, which seemed odd to me as Manning just is not the type of player who gives such approval, more like the type who would say something more benign and hint they all needed to work harder. Self serving at work.
This says a lot about the state of the organization in Marino's mind,IMO. He lacks enough confidence in it to recommend it to his friend.....ie he thinks it could backfire and ruin the friendship.
Looks like the repercussions of trying to get Haurbaugh while Tony was still the coach is starting to bite us in the ***. **** like this will always stick with Ross & hurt us. Karma is a ***** especially when it bites you back.
Hate posters like you. If you don't care for the thread, then piss off, no one is forcing you to read it.
why is anyone surprised by this was pretty clear when he didn't want Ross or Ireland at the meeting that we had 0 chance
Parcells is one vindictive SOB. He must really dislike Ross to have his flunkies pimp up the chances of the Dolphins aquiring Manning when there was never any indication by Manning's camp that he liked the option. There's only a hand full of guys with the clout to pull that off.
It's my fault that I listen to too many ESPN NFL experts over the years that Dolphins are always leading contenders or a lock for a free agent coach, player, or GM. Next time I hear Mortensen, Schefter, or Clayton say the Dolphins are again in the lead to land a high profile person I will totally ignore them.
Do you really blame him? We're not who we used to be. Until Ireland and possibly even Ross are gone we'll be viewed in a negative light, whether that's right or wrong.
I wonder when someone mentioned that Manning didn't like our FO structure as in the way the FO was trying to get Haurbaugh while Tony was still the HC here. If a FO is capable of doing that, then they are capable of doing anything.
While its a mystery to me how Ross gets dumped on for this, at least for presenting an image any less appealing, than the very fandom that perfomed the notorious chant for Carl Orton, that rained down on a practicing Henne. Ireland's austere, and downright icy persona otoh, compounded by his arguably callous statements, dismissing Moore's potential to lead this team, could have formed a culpable deterrent to Mannings interest, and perhaps weighing into the reasoning for his absense at the Indy meeting. In any case, doing so by extension removed Ross from the equation, and refuted accusations from his critics as a meddler, in having placed autonomous control over Manning's acquisition, solely in the hands of Philbin and herman.
