http://www.palmbeachpost.com/sports/dolphins/peyton-manning-might-be-a-lost-cause-for-2240764.html Technically we did but the only reason he meet with our staff was because Marino had to beg him too, and then it was in Indy, the only time he meet with a team of interest outside their cities. Pretty sad what we have become, an after thought if that because our meeting seems to have been only a favor to his idol, a courtesy meeting in other words.
Well, if you are talking in general, yeah they sucks ***, but if you are talking about the article the writer is pretty good beat writer and fair, never looks to take cheap shots as I have follow him on twitter, if this was an ESPN article I would never even paid attention to it.
Not surprising. The only way we will be able to regain our reputation is to start winning and quit changing coaching staff and direction every 2-3 years. This organization has been unstable for the last 15 years or so. That has to change.
The day Ross sells this team is the day Miami will truly start rebuilding. Until then ? Hold onto your bootstaps folks. Ross is a joke People may have doubted it but as I have posted numerous times, anyone that is credible in the NFL, coach or now player, views Ross as an AZZ CLOWN.
First off Marino announced that he wanted no part in Manning coming to Miami. Second off the only reason we met in Indy is because when Manning first arrived in Miami the media drove him crazy following him in helicopters, which was a major turnoff. After AZ he was expected to head back to Miami, but instead we met him in Indy and met him there before anyone knew when we would have the meeting. Our team is in a lockdown of information coming out of it, and therefore NOBODY knows our chances of getting Manning except for us, and Manning himself. Philbin went to the meeting because he worked with great qbs like Rodgers and Favre, so our best chance was to send him and not our clowns Ireland and Ross. Manning visited the facility before the Super Bowl in Miami, and they obviously mentioned to him something about Marshall. If they traded him, and the team still feels confident about landing him obviously we have a chance. IGGNORE THE F***ING MEDIA AND ALL THEY SAY, THEY KNOW NOTHING!!!
When did Marino announce he didn't want Manning in Miami? And if this makes you sleep better at night, good for you. But Ben Volin is a respectable beat writer from what I have seen who has no reason to make up ****.
The only assclowns are people such as yourself that have no ability to see the big picture and are short sighted in finding easy villains to justify your anger. News flash, this team has sucked since JJ took over and Manning doesn't owe us anything . Please reply what about Jeff Fischer, while once again living in a cave and ignoring the bounty given to the Rams this past week. You should stop listening to the likes of Shefter or the NY centered media.
At least we made it to the table. A lot of teams wanted Manning that couldn't even get a meeting. So lets can the tears shall we.
My fear is this: The media told us we were favorites and are now telling us we weren't. Now once that is filtered through the depression addled brains of our fans, it comes out the other side as we lost out on Manning because of mistakes we made. The thing is, we know none of that. We don't know if we were ever on Mannings list and if we weren't, then why we weren't. Yes, maybe he didn't like Ross or Ireland. If true, that sucks. Then again maybe he didn't want to be in our division. If true, we could do nothing about that. But it doesn't matter, because this is now the football equivalent of watching clouds to see what animals they look like. Its up to the eye of the beholder. So, my fear is that posters here are going to continue to just spout doom left and right and that is going to make the off season feel longer and be unbearable.
There is alot of truth to this especially the first part, if the media had downplayed our chances from the beginning we would have never had the disappointment we have now, if we were told at the start we were a longshot it would have saved alot of pain for us, but that's what the media is today, it could care less whose heart strings it tugs, all they care about is selling stories and we bought them hook line and sinker, and the saddest part is as fans we really won't learn our lesson because next time we will be more than willing as we did with Manning to buy the snake oil they are selling.
I HATED WHERE THIS ORGINAZATION HAS BEEN AND IT STARTED NOT WITH Wanny, because we were winning then . it started with Saban and it got worse when we hired Parcells and his band of pricks.
In a week or so we will either have Manning or, most likely, not have Manning. Either way, there will still be a draft in April, camp in July and a season in September, during which we will play 16 games. None of the drama surrounding Manning will change any of that. So wake me up when we sign a significant free agent and again just before the draft. Manning is no longer relevant.
Good, anything associated with the last name Manning blows. Guy is a few decent hits away from a wheel chair. Like his Dad, this is all ego driven.
And THAT is the bottom line, about all that is left is to see how the Flynn stuff turns out, and the bargain bin FA's left to sort through, otherwise...
Really ? This has nothing to do with Manning, personally I am glad he did not want to come here. I does have all to do with Ross. Good businessman, shiiiit for a football owner / leader. The man , like so many others of his type. believes money cures all ills. Like I said and save the post. When Ross is gone, the team will move on.
When the rumors of Manning first started coming up, I posted a homerish thread about why Manning and Miami made sense.. Upon further reflection I realized we had no chance as this week progressed. Why would Manning consider the Dolphins given our current roster and coaching change? 1. Brand new, unproven head coach. 2. Questions around our running game. Was Reggie Bush a one hit wonder? What if Reggie flys back to earth next year? Then what? Compare that to how Denver ran the ball last year and some of the weapons on Tenessee. ' 3. Questions about how effective our OL is. 4. No true #1 or even #2 WR.. Even with Brandon our WR corps was questionable. 5. AFC East schedule and toughness. 6. Poor image of Ireland and Ross. All of these factors are valid and when you combine them, it made the likelyhood of Peyton coming down here close to nil, even before Brandon was traded. If I'm John Elway I remind Peyton of how I won during the twighlight of my career, two Super Bowl on the back of Terrell Davis. I tell Peyton that Denver is going to have a balanced offense to take the burden off Peyton, and that their D has already made tremendous strides.. I'm still thinking he picks Denver.. They had a formula that worked under Elway, and now under his leadership can make life easy for Peyton as he makes his final ring chase. Do these factors make the Dolphins look bad? Not at all, it is what it is. We are simply not that attractive yet for someone like Peyton to take a risk on. Peyton wants to end his career with another Super Bowl and the Dolphins, out of the remaining teams, have the toughest road to that.Waaay to many question marks.
Dan Marino said he would not step in and talk to Manning on the Dolphins behalf in any way. So someone is lying
I believe Ross was the one that really thought we had a shot at Manning when we should of never thought that. We were used as usual to spice up other offers probably. This owner and front office should have seen this and never got sucked in like they did.
I remember him saying he would not try to sway Manning to coming to Miami, but that's not what he did here according to Volin, he just brokered the meeting, something he never said he wouldn't do.
Not getting Manning could be a blessing in disguise. Not very likely he wins another Super Bowl. I admit I was excited about him, and am a bit bummed about it. But truly, we are better off with someone younger that will work with Philbin offense, rather than Philbin working with what Manning wants to do.
Very well could be. He said it though and if I were him, I would not have set up anything for them. Not to piss on the Dolphins but to just stay out of it...
