I'm sitting here trying to figure out what we're doing at WR to fill the obvious hole we're left with,
and the one scenario that crossed my mind is: Michael Floyd.

We obviously seem to not want to use our 1st round pick on a RT b/c we're trying to bring in Winston... so perhaps that #1 pick [if we end up with Manning or Flynn] is designated for Marshall's cheaper replacement in Floyd (or perhaps Blackmon if he happens to miraculously fall or we use those 2 3rds to trade up for him).

Floyd would cost us around $15.0M for 4 years, so I could see him being viewed as a viable replacement while Miami also picks up a few 3rds in the process. The Broncos attempted this with Marshall by drafting Demaryius Thomas so it's not out of the question. Financially it would make sense.

I would be ok drafting him some people think he will be a bust I don't know why but I see the dolphins going DE in 1st round so I think its more likely we take a wr with our 2nd pick.

Yeah I think that would be a nice play because I mean if we choose not to take one with our first pick, I don't see us having a #1 going into opening day.

I think we take either Floyd or Blackmon with our 1st as well. Bringing in Winston and Hicks backs that up. I think they were looking to sign a #1-2 wr in FA but lost out on Robinson and figure to just draft a wr in the 1st. Who really knows what they have going on, so many different way this can all play out now.

I just know the next 4 weeks are gonna have me thinking an awful lot about what the hell is going to go down here

edit: It really all depends om how our qb situation goes down, there are so many variables at this point

I'd love to go Coples at 8..... but dealing away Brandon changes things. If Coples is off the board and we've signed Manning or Flynn, I could easily see us taking Floyd or trying to move up for Blackmon rather than taking Ingram at DE.

Hopefully we land Winston if Buffalo nabs Mario Williams. If anyone knows Mario, it's Winston.

They have to have some sort of back up plan that allowed them to deal Brandon b/c it's highly unlikely we go in with Gates, Hartline, and Bess as our starting receiving corps, especially coming from an owner who so openly wants some excitement in Dolphin town.

Loosing Marshall changes everything. I believe they planned on taking a DE/OLB with the 1st to begin with but have been forced to change plans. Now they are tearing *** trying to make things happen. I already feel more confident with Philbin here helping making decisions

Looking at this website 7 out of the top 10 wide receivers are 6'3" or taller

Seems to be a lot of good big targets available in this draft.

They are supposedly still talking with Manningham so idk......I think they are kind of running out of cap room but I'd have to check that

If we land Manning then we have to get Mike Wallace. Not that I'd be opposed to doing it either way but Peyton would make it a no-brainer.

Lloyd's market looks slow so if we got him for cheap that wouldn't hurt.

If we're depending on drafting all of our WR and TE additions then I'll be concerned.

I'm sure that's what they are going to try and do to some extent. Maybe resign Jake to a new deal or something

yeah I don't see a reason to trade up for Blackmon at that point wouldn't it be better to just give up our 1st for Wallace would cost us less picks.

It's not just about the picks but it's also about the money involved. If we could hypothetically give up those 3rds to trade up for Blackmon, he'd cost us 1/4th that of what it'd take to sign Wallace for 4 years. That savings allows us to re-sign Soliai and add another quality FA, both of which are more valuable than their 3rd round pick counterparts.

I would draft blackmon at 8 if he was still on the board but I'm not sure I would trade up for him I think it would take more than 3rd rounders to move up. I also agree cap wise Blackmon is the better play but just don't see it happening.

So let's say we get Flynn, justice, ( I know it will take restructuring)

we draft coples with 8, trade next years 1st and the two thirds we have this year to go get Floyd...
We try to grab fleener or Allen with our second...
Iloka with our 4th to replace bell since new Marshall will play Fs.
    5th mabe broyles?
    6th russel Wilson

I agree. more than likely that's not happening, but if we happen to be sitting in a position where 2 3rds gets it done, I'd have to think highly about it [especially if we're not needing to draft Tannehill].

I pretty much said the same thing in another thread and got bashed for it. Lol. It was only one person that disagreed though. I feel like we got a couple of #3 wr's and we are forcing one of them to be a #2 wr and we obviously got rid of our #1. I think we need a legitimate #2 picked up in free agency and we need to use our 1st round pick to get our #1 wr. I totally support moving up in the draft to accomplish that.

Chances are we will be doing it the Green Bay way and picking 2nd/3rd/4th round WR's.

I could honestly see us dropping a bit from 8 just to pick up a late 2nd or early 3rd. Just to help us restock at WR with 2 picks in the first 3 rounds. If we don't go Flynn I'd suspect they'd still stay in range with a drop down to get Tannehill or Weeden (I doubt Tannehill goes top 10 and I doubt Weeden makes it past 22 or so). Going into draft day with 2 2nd's and 2 3rd's would let us stock up the offense a lot. Could even still grab a late round WR and hit the undrafted market. Really open up the competition at all WR spots.

If R Marshall is destined for FS as some suspect, then we could make room for Manningham, Winston etc, by cutting or reworking Bell, or reworking Long's deal. Bell is in his last season, and counting like 6mil, so IMO we should just cut him and move Clemons to SS.

I can't see the reasoning behind just trading Marshall and 'hoping' the right WR falls to us in the draft. I don't think thats what the front office was thinking but who knows at this point? We might be looking to trade backwards and pick up more draft choices, if we slid back and got say Jeffery and Weeden (or another Qb) I'd have to give the front office a lot of credit for working the draft but if we are just creating a hole with a questionable trade to spend our 8th pick on I think thats pretty stupid.

After the Marshall trade, there is no better pick for the Miami Dolphins than Michael Floyd. I'm a Notre Dame fan and this guy I'd be psyched to see the Dolphins get him, I thought he would go to the Bears Pre-FA. I'm so happy that won't be happening now, here's hoping the Jaguars don't get him the pick before you they got Robinson today so hopefully they think he's there No.1.

Floyd is a good option. I don't like moving up for Blackmon, either. He's talented but not super fast and measured at 6'1, 207 at the combine. Blackmon also had a great college QB - Weeden, throwing to him.

Floyd is a stellar blocker - an underrated feature - and at 6'3, 220 and under 4.5 speed, with middling QB play in college, I think he has more upside. He runs good routes which is a key for the WCC.

But, the WCC doesn't need big WR's either (as the Packers show) - a guy who runs good routes and with speed is a factor so there are other WR's out there who are viable candidates. The GT kid is an option in the 2nd - but a reach and gamble as well.

I'm just hoping we can land Flynn and that he is the real deal. That would be great. The Manning ship has sailed.

Trading down is an option, getting back into the first with your ammo, come away with 2 first rounders, Kendall Wright and Coby Fleener would make me forget about Marshall real fast..that's if we go Flynn by the way..

I want to trade down in the 1st, load up on some more picks (plus future picks) and take Alshon Jeffery and Tommy Streeter this draft. That would give us an incredible, young receiving corps.

Also look at Donald Driver's size. He also looks like he was weaned on a Nautilus machine.

Floyd would be perfect for Philbin's offense. PERFECT!!! He is just the kind of receiver you want to get into the open field with the ball in his hands.
Crisp routes, yac ability, big strong, fast, fine hands...what more could ya want?

This is a deep class though at WR, and a good year to grab 2 or 3.

He isn't the developed route runner that a few of the other top WRs are though.

Givens would be interesting, and to me the guy no one is talking about but should be is Dwight Jones of NC.

Having two third rounders, puts us into ideal position to use one of them on a guy who may need some more rehab time, like Ryan Broyles. His ACL tear and subsequent recovery will likely push him down to that area, and to me it would be prudent to use one of our 3rds on him.

 After going back to Packer games and watching Nelson overtake Jennings as the main big play WR in that offense, I can't but help think Philbin is salivating over Floyd (who is a similar to Nelson IMO).

Good point. If we could somehow swing a capable DE in FA, I'd have no problem using this draft to redo the receiving corps to meet Philbin's needs.
In this regard, I'd love to see something like Floyd, Coby Fleener, Wylie (or Joe Adams), and Greg Childs later on (who could become the steal of the draft).
