While we dont know facts and investigations need to continue, with repeated incidents of this nature you have to realize he puts himself in improper situations. With that i could see why the franchise moved on.
I'm done with these LOSERS! Embarrassed to be a Fin fan! We don't have nothing now! Other teams are signing great WR and we lost ours! What a effing joke! **** miami!
I still say we should have and could have gotten more for him. Especially if reports that this was hammered out at the combine are true. If true, combined with Chicago not knowing of this incident, then Ireland truly is a dimwit for not getting more. And no one knows what happened or how this started. If his wife was attacked, it is hard to blame Marshall for trying to get her out of the fracas and protecting/defending him and her against anyone in their way. Reminds me of the Ron Artest/Detroit situation. To this day, I don't blame Ron.
i'm oddly enough fine with this trade...and manning isn't coming and that's fine too...i don't think miami "lost" out on reggie wayne by any stretch, he may have not hitched his wagon to manning..it's his last contract, he was going for money...miami will do something...while initially i was very "wtf" i'm fine with it...get picks, build through the draft, get flynn or draft a qb...it's not the end of the world folks..we didn't win with marshall, i'm sure the dolphins will be fine without him
lol No. He probably laughed his *** off and took it before they knew what hit them. And the date of the incident was two days ago.
I meant the trade was hammered out at the combine (allegedly), not the incident. Clearly the incident just happened.
I haven't seen a good source about the combine rumor. Maybe they had preliminary talks but I don't see the point of them making the deal so early then waiting to announce it.
My guess would be salary cap implications and waiting for the new year since you can't trade until the new football year starts, right? Either way, as you pointed out, Chicago didn't know about the incident apparently, which still means Ireland took a **** package and could have and, should have, gotten more. But at this point, it doesn't matter. Our team is without an actual receiving threat outside of Reggie Bush and without a truly viable QB to throw to the weak corps. We are a worse team today, than yesterday.
Exactly. Ireland's sellin microprocessors to the goddamn Chinese over here and people are saying he could of got more
Hating what? If you feel inclined, you can feel free to check that I have always supported Ireland, probably more so than most people on here. I hate this trade. I think it sucks out loud, still do. So I guess, in terms of this trade, I do hate it. But it is n;t like I spouted off a bunch of names, called people racist names or anything else that some posters do on here.
If Ireland knew but Chicago didn't is it possible the league reverses the trade if Chicago decided to protest?
Ireland gets early GM of the year consideration for narrowly escaping disaster...Finally, a clear positive to hang his hat on. At least I managed to trade Marshall
Honestly for third rounders I'd still have kept him. Could care less what he does off the field, nor am I going to judge his situation because he may not have even been at fault.
It would all come down to when the altercation took place. Was it before or after Brandon Marshall found out he was a Bear? The rumors coming out of the front office were pretty insistent that negotiations have been taking place lonnngggg before yesterday. It reminds me of when I sold my crappy Chinese scooter, the muffler came completely off while riding back from the notaryLOL
Some fun facts: - Darren Sproles, a running back had more receiving*TDs than BMarsh last year. - 6 TEs scored more receiving TD's than BMarsh last year - Bamrsh's 2 year TD total is 9, Rob Gronkowski TE scored 17 just last year. That's an 8 TD difference. 8 TD's is still 2 more than BMarsh scored last year. - 3 players for New England had more receiving TDs each than BMarsh. - Over 30 players scored more receiving TDs than BMarsh last year.
Whatever you think about Marshall, and I won't disagree with most of it, the fact is we have a GAPING hole at WR. It's not easy to find 1200 yards, 90 catches and 6 TD's on the street.
I was a big fan of Marshall. However, I am liking this move more and more. Frees up salary cap space, receiver draft picks, and trade away a receiver who does have a mental disorder. I wish Brandon Marshall continued success in Chicago with Jay Cutler.
He may not have known about this specific incident. But this incident does help solidify the belief that Brandon Marshall was causing problems with players and coaches.
It's not that hard to replace a 6 TD per season WR. And at the end of the day, catches and yards mean nothing compared to TD's.
WTF? The hate is strong in this one. You actually think we pulled one over on Chicago and once they found out, lied to cover our asses?
This trade still upsets me. We have nobody on our receiver corps that can command a double team as well. I'll miss Bmarsh and his drops.
The trade has been in the works since the combine. This incident happened over the weekend. And Chicago is lying to cover their own asses. My question is why would you give up two draft picks knowing this was going to break?
I'm betting the trade would have been much better that 2 3rd rounders if they were talking for awhile. BMarsh not only drops passes too much he devalued himself with all of his off/on the field antics. I wish the guy the best, but he's got some serious problems and they obviously aren't being dealt with.
Ierland deserves credit for ridding the team of him. Every off season he does something stupid. Some of teh GM's posting on this site say they could have received more. SMH. I wish you were real GM's. Please submit your resume's to all the teams. Surely many of the 32 teams will be bidding for you.
That makes literally no sense. If they had the deal set up for awhile, and then at the last minute something pops up, how does that reflect poorly on the Bears? It doesn't.
