I'm pissed. I'm just really really pissed. Brian Hartline and Devon Bess are NOT #1 and #2 WR's. Neither of them is even an above average #2. We better have a plan. Seriously, or we are back to the days of an offense so bad we might go 1-15 again.

So you think he was sent packing because he said something about having a real Qb?

I tend to think not but for me, I could care less what he said.

He was far and away the best Wr in a Dolphins uniform in 15-20 seasons. Trade him but make sure you have a replacement. You do not trade him because he said our Qb's are an average bunch if it makes the team MUCH worse.

Then again maybe they're setting themselves up for Barkley in 2013.....

Yep, everybody now has their source when they really have nothing. Nothing but total bs anymore. It's fun to read and watch the crap, but I take it with a grain of salt now.

Not a huge Marshall fan, but this seems like below value.

Especially if you go by JJ's "present value" theory, then it's a 3rd and a 4th!

Nothing about Ireland makes me confident we will hit on either third rounder either.

I'm sorry but there is just no way this is Irelands thought process.

"You know who I don't need this season? Brandon Marshall. You know what we could REALLY use? Extra third rounders."

I really want to know what he was thinking or IF he was thinking.

An interesting example. So I should expect Marshall to have a career year with the Bears?

If he has anything approaching that, then its just more evidence of Ireland's incompetence. He has won himself a lot more hate with this move, and he better have a plan to make up for it. Frankly, I am not seeing much left in the way of options unless he makes the move for Blackmon. None of the other WRs impress me as a #1 that could come close to matching this loss.

Trading Marshall for drugs would have been a better move. At least with drugs you will enjoy what you received. Two third rounders = absolutely worthless compared to an established player.

No, my hopes were about building around already established talent. Which obviously if you trade it away can't happen. You make moves to get better. We might as well have cut Marshall because two third rounders is just about as valuable as nothing.

Jason Taylor, Joe Montana, Jared Allen, and Chris Carter, to name a few, all disagree with you. Why? Because they were all 3rd or 4th round draftees.

    1) Chances are whoever you draft in the third round will not work out
    2) This front office has shown pretty much no ability to draft well
    3) Compared to the value of an already established player it is true.

Name any well established player in the league and ask if you would rather have a third rounder. The answer will always be no.

With all due respect, thats silly.

2x3rd rounders are far from nothing. 2x7th rounders are slightly better than nothing.

What has Marshall done for us? Nothing. He's a great WR, just not a great WR in Miami. There is no denying that. You wanted him based on potential, not actual performance in Miami. End of the day we lost an average of 4.5 TDs a year.

This is from a Browns message board, but it is actually a very good post. Shows a 3rd round pick has a 25% chance of being a MEDIOCRE starter in the league.

Its actually a Cavs message board LOL but still doesnt take away from post quality.

If Marshall had an elite QB throwing to him in Miami then we traded him, everyone would be pissed.

Texted team source and asked, "What's going on with Marshall move?" Response: "Be patient. You'll see." So I guess we'll see.

I'm wondering what exactly "we'll see". I doubt it's Manning...

I'm so glad I was "Suck for Luck" this past season. Those wins over KC and WASH and Buffalo were so pointless. We're basically rebuilding anyway it seems. I'm trying to wait and see, but these are the Dolphins, I have no faith in them.

There's some problems with his chart. For one, he considers Phillip Rivers as great a player as Ed Reed. He also thinks Braylon Edwards is an Upper Tier Starter.

Obviously some subjective opinion. I'm fine with Rivers and Reed being considered great.

I'm speaking more towards the percentages. 3% chance all pro ONCE, 7% chance one pro bowl, 25% starting half their career?

You don't trade a proven player for that.

From your link: That 25% figure is incidentally the average number for all players drafted. This was fairly consistent through all the drafts I looked at: about 25% of all players picked end up being at least a fringe starter.
And finally, everyone expects their 1st round picks to become stars. They don't. IN the first half of Round 1, picks have about a 30% chance to become that kind of impact player. In the bottom half of the round, it's more like 10%.

Understand if his player evaluation is suspect (it is), then the percentages he came up with are pointless. Either way, its hardly evidence.

How are factual percentages pointless? There is absolutely no changing the fact that 7% of third round picks make ONE pro bowl in their career? Or that 3% are voted all-pro ONCE.

It has nothing to do with evaluation skills, those are numbers any single person would arrive at.

Pro Bowl is not the end all be all of judging the greatness of a player. That's why the percentages are pointless. You can't tell me X% of players from a draft are great if I disagree with who you are calling great.

Then again his next infraction would be 6 games. Is 6 games worth 2 third round picks?
