Wasn't BM biggest fan but this makes no sence unless they are clearing out to bring a bunch of ex-Colts .If that's not the case I will be a unhappy camper for that trade.
My initial reaction is I'm shocked. In a business of gaining talented players, we trade away our best talent for what many consider below value. This HAS to be a move made for future subsequent moves.
It is a bit odd timing. After a 6 hour meeting they MUST have talked WR's and you know Marshall came up and we know Manning does not like divas/troublemakers. The Finsiders is saying there are RUMORS Peyton is not meeting with the Titans now....hmm. There is so much confusion going around right now though so take that with a grain of salt. If we don't get Manning I don't know what to think about. On one hand he is a 1000 yard WR. On the other he drops a lot of red zone passes and is a headcase...
http://m.bleacherreport.com/article...eans-peyton-manning-is-likely-a-miami-dolphin I hope this article is right.
I am way beyond pissed! I am seriously almost out of patience here. I really miss the Joe Robbie/Don Shula Era.
Yeah, we can't be this stupid w/o having something in place. At least I hope we're not just winging this thing.
It's ok, guys. Ireland has a plan. You guys doubt him too much, seriously. The guy hasn't assembled a 20-28 team over the past three seasons on sheer luck.
lol I knew it was gonna take me a while to get onto the sight ... I am in shock ... but like others have said ... lets see where this is headed before we crucify JI ... this could be as much a request by Philbin as it was Manning
I don't think it had anything to do with Manning. Even looking at it in a vacuum, they were able to get out of a huge contract with a player thats been walking a tightrope, and netted two picks in the process. I just think they found Brandon Marshall not to be worth what he's owed. Another thing to consider is that Brandon Marshall very likely could have requested to be traded.
There better be something good coming out of this or we need to bring back the Fire Jeff Ireland banner flying near the stadium. Samsung Epic 4G via Tapatalk
There are players available right now, that are just as talented as Brandon Marshall, and will likely cost about the same. They can be signed today without having to use draft picks. Talented players aren't impossible find, the challenge is finding talented players that aren't among the highest paid in the NFL.
Best tweet ever that I saw today: "Ireland trades his Lexus for a Kia" Just don't understand this move in a vaccum. Unless there is a larger chess game going on that I can't see (assuming it doesn't involve Manning) then this makes no sense. Turned a unit that was a legitimate strength, into a weakness, for a bag of donuts.
Maybe we use both of those 3rds to trade up for Robert Griffin. Using those 3rds to trade up for Blackmon would be nice, and he'd cost us less than half of what Marshall did. FA: Manning, Wayne, Winston...... draft Blackmon. I could forget about Marshall if something like that happened.
Falls in line with Philbin's philosophy about obtaining high character guys who play the game the right way. It would have been nice to get more than two 3rd round picks though.
This actually got me to finally walk away from Ireland as a GM. I have defended him up until this point, but getting only two third rounders for Marshall is just insanely stupid. Even if Manning demanded that Brandon be off the team before he signed, one has got to think that you can sell Marshall's services for better than that return. And if they are breaking up their team to satisfy Manning, doesn't this basically make Ireland a whore? #dezbryanted
lets feed the fire: http://kansascity.sbnation.com/kans...s-denver-radio-announcer-says-its-a-done-deal They say Peyton to Denver is a done deal...
This is where this once proud fanbase is at, hoping ****ing Bleacher Report finally nails a story. This desperation and sadness is what our managerial incompetence has reduced us to.
I believe we're around 16 mil under because we put tenders on 2 people and signed 2 people today, all that plus the Brandon Marshall trade puts us at 16 mil under. I'll look for a link but I forget where I read that. I know Murtha was one of the people we put a tender on.
I'm glad the Marshall cancer is gone but would have been nice to get a bit more for him. Seems like as much as the Bears wanted him we could have at least got a 2nd and a 3rd but whatever. Clears up some cap room for more signings...Marshall gave us 100 catches but a bunch of drops and TD's left on the field. He had to be a pain in the *** because they really seemed to want to ditch him pretty quickly. They prob already had this in mind all off season
Very comparable to teams being 34-42 when Marshall starts at WR. Marshall has produced 34 TD catches when he has been targeted 827 times. That isn't going to be too hard to replace.
We still take a nearly $6 million cap hit and now have a huge hole to fill that didn't exist before. I understand all of Marshall's negatives, but you are not going to find a 28 year old player of his caliber that is available for cheap. It just doesn't happen. Now instead of simply managing a tough personality, like all teams have to do on ocassion, we created a huge hole for a bag of sand and not all that much in cap relief.
So sick and tired of this team! I've been a fan for 20 years and these dudes suck ***! What a effing idiot to get rid of our top WR! Laughing stock of the NFL
Relax guys! Maybe Peyton said, "get rid of Marshall and I will get Wayne to sign here" Plus Marshall is way too inconsistent in the red zone. Let's see how this shakes out. FYI, Garcon is gone, signed with Redskins.
Slap happy disc jockey is not a source. BS. Maybe it happens, but after the BM trade I cant imagine PM is not in the future. If not clean house!!!!!!!!!!!
This isn't really about trading the guy, because this falls along the lines of the new regime wanting high character, hard working smart players. This is about two things: Maybe you could have gotten a bit more than 2 3rd round picks, after all, he did cost you 2 2nd rounders. and secondly... Whats next? Surely this is part of a plan, because alone, this move makes your team worse in the short term.
http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/03/13/2691697/miami-dolphins-trade-receiver.html It was Murtha and merling with the tenders and spitler and someone else I haven't heard of.
Wallace is tendered so unless we want to give the Steelers the 8th overall pick, we aren't getting him.
Yeah it was Marshall that showed up to camp 40 pounds out of shape it was also Marshall that came to practice drunk and had to get thrown off the field.
