Its because its Twitter. Twitter isn't reporting and its almost always a personal account and not one to a news outlet, so it doesn't have to be accurate. Its basically advertising for news. People get suckered in, then visit the news site.

Such is the life of reporting in days of the internet. Keep throwing **** against the wall and some of it is bound to stick. Sources not necessary. When a little turd randomly sticks they can claim they were first to break the story.

Just looking at what has gone on from a Dolphin perspective. The media was reporting Ross/Miami was all in before Manning was even released by the Colts. The NFL calls that tampering and a team can be penalized draft picks. I never saw an actual quote from Ross that Miami was all in. Haven't seen anyone on these forums provide one either.

What is most baffling is fans actually seem to continuously believe all the crap that gets reported as it is unsubstantiated when it is reported.

For some (probably most) "reporters" on twitter, I don't take anything seriously.

But for reporters like Mort who work for ESPN, NFLN, etc. they should be more substantial with what they're saying. It shouldn't matter if it's twitter or a website or whatever, if you're a professional reporter then be a goddamn professional and stop reporting every piece of garbage that you want to put a spin on for followers.

But no, people like that get promoted. Lookin at you, Florio.

Per Miami Herald, the Manning camp told #Dolphins last week they would "get their chance to make a pitch." bit.ly/x4oQ3P

Gotta figure that the Front Office is trying to keep this meeting as low profile as possible and not be all over the media professing their love for Manning that way if they swing and miss they can tell the Flynn camp they were just exploring the possibility. Still, we can offer what the others are not, potential minority ownership.

I still think that they are waiting to make their pitch toward the end so they get last say.

I don't know..I find this all highly entertaining and exciting. He's done he's out. I get to poo-poo on Schefty and Mort and their incompetence...watch the roller coaster ride and subsequent freak outs. This is as good as the off-season gets !!!

Supposedly Manning has provided tapes of himself throwing to teams as well as medical reports.

    Honestly, no, not for me.

Even Manning has said he's not ready yet, but that he is progressing. If you see a plot of his progress, there is nothing he can show you today that will change what's already on paper.

Having him throw 500 passes to day is meaningless since everybody agrees that his arm still needs to strengthen as the regeneration continues.

Even if you watched him throw, signing him still takes an article of faith that he will be 100%, or something close to it by opening day.

Hope this is not repeated info as there are too many posts to sift through and we all dont want a new thread for every rumor or possibility, but latest I heard was B Marsh may be more of a hinderance than help because of his (at least) percieved attitude. Of course I have also heard that he may not want to have the hype near his home too, both being aspects we thought would be advantages. At this point think its just........fodder

Marshall, to my recollection, has never thrown a qb under the bus.

Now they're saying he's going to visit TEN.

If anything, a visit to TEN puts to rest the rumor that he wouldn't consider Miami bc of Marshall.

Kenny Britt makes Brandon Marshall look like the smartest guy in the room.

Personally I agree, especially after probowl. Not that its real competition but it is the only time BM had a pro bowl QB throwing to him. Just repporting what I hear. Also heard that inside the franchise the hush is on. Even those who would have leaked in the past (including PR and agents).

He's going to Tennessee, where the coaches and GMs have said publicly they weren't interested until the owner opened his senile mouth?

But he refuses to meet with the Dolphins? Either Jeff Ireland and Stephen Ross royally ****ed up somewhere or they aren't really that interested.

I just hope Miami bails out of this mess and makes a play for Flynn tomorrow.

If Manning's camp said he will give the fins a chance to make a sales pitch, then he willl. We all know Manning is the type to keep his word. Maybe the fins want to be last on the list as a previous poster has mentioned.

Big problem though: If we wait to make a pitch to Manning and he chooses another team we miss the boat on Matt Flynn. I'm not sure if that's a bad thing or not. Maybe missing on both will force us to do what should have been done long ago. Spending a first round pick on a QB.

Just a guess on my part here, but I think Flynn's agent will probably wait to see what happens with Manning before he signs with a team. That way teams will be more desperate and may offer him more. Especially since Washington has RG3 all locked up.

As you eluded to, we have absolutely no idea what they think of Flynn until FA officially starts.

That pretty much throws a wrench in to any line of thinking with how we're dealing w/Manning.

Honestly at this point I'm just eager to see who else we go after outside of the QB position.

Eh maybe with a team like us who could have interest in both. But, teams like CLE or SEA that are already out of or never wanted Manning will probably try to sign Flynn asap.

Then it's in the best interests of Flynn's agent to see if Miami wants to get involved if they strike out with Peyton.

Personally I would prefer to draft a QB (Tannehil) with our 1st pick if we can't get Manning but if Philbin thinks Flynn is the guy, then go for it. I did like Flynn when he leading LSU to a National title but that one game against the Lions was such a small sample size.

I honestly think Flynn has the upper hand already. He's going to get a phat raise whoever he signs with.

Agreed. Peyton and his agent are doing all the LEVERAGE for him. He'll be like the chubby girl with the cute face at last call.

I'm now doubting we get him unless Philbin is a miracle worker. Should still go for Reggie wayne asap! Maybe will entice manning, if not then he could help whatever QB we have.

Get something to add more talent to help Manning for a player who will not play for maybe 3 years. Especially if he doesn't play for 3 years, then his contract is up.
