Let's see if we can get a list going of pros outside of the standard ones. I'll start: 1) Peyton can carry the legacy of Marino as an extension of his era and legacy in Miami by bringing us to our first Super Bowl in 40 years. Watching Marino vouche for Peyton and strongly advocate for him in Miami indicates to me that he isn't threatened by the legacy that Peyton can have on this franchise if he can move us beyond the 1st round of the playoffs. 2) Coach Philbin seems like a mild mannered, anti-Rex, methodical, intelligent head coach.. Peyton was blessed to spend most of his career with Dungy. 3) Miami is, and will always be a football first city. Forget about Lebron and Dwade. Peyton will own this town and the entire fanbase will get behind him. 4) Peyton gets to exercise his demons against Tom Brady and Patsies, not once, but twice, every year, gauranteed. Don't be suprised if he gets to face them 3 times a year. What can be better than defeating the man that derailed you multiple times in the playoffs? 5) Hate to stress this again, but imagine his legacy if he restored the Miami Dolphins to their proper place amongst the elite franchises in the NFL? The once mightly Dolphins, mired in a quarter century of mediocrity saved by perhaps the GOAT QB who not only got cut, but was doubted by the entire league. The stuff Hollywood movies are made of.. Don't tell me the storyline would be as compelling in Denver or KC. Denver won a Super Bowl with Elway and KC is, well KC. Anyone care to add? How about some cons?
Cons -Jeff Ireland's ego. He will not let a player dictate which personnel moves to make (eg, Wayne, Saturday, Clark).
Those points could apply to almost all his most likely suitors. Bottom line is this, there is no magical quality that makes Miami "better" than the other teams for Peyton, regardless of what us fans might want to believe. At the end of the day, the reason he chooses one team or the other could be as trivial as the uniform, or as important as talent and competition. Only he really knows. But for the sake of the post: Con - Ross is a clown.
I actually think there are more pros for Manning than there are for the Dolphins. Here are the pros from Manning's POV (not duplicating some that have already been mentioned). Pros for Manning: 1. good defense 2. #1 WR 3. Long and Pouncey 4. decent running game 5. coach with a demeanor like Dungy's Cons for Manning: 1. coach/OC with a foreign system who stresses continuity as a priority 2. not enough cap room to sign him and his old team mates
You are 100% correct. But to have the option to revive a franchise that had some of the best pedigree in NFL history behind Marino and Shula is pretty compelling IMHO....And in one swoop to have the opportunity to end the legacy of Bellicheck and Brady after they not only dominated your new teams division for a decade, but whom also blew you out of the playoffs multiple times.. If that isn't motivation enough, I don't know what is.
He will choose the people he feels most comfortable with. The differences in talent between the final 3 teams aren't that great to sway his decision one way or the other, IMO.

1. Miami is an appealing city to live in. That's why Manning has a vacation home there. After Peyton retires he can pretty much accomplish anything he wants in Miami. The sky is the limit. 2. Replacing matt Moore is not nearly as bad as replacing Tim tebow for conscience sakes. 3. Jake long 4. Brandon Marshall 5. He's the only available QB that can fit in marino's shoes.
1. Supporting Cast with Long/Pouncey, Bush/Thomas, Marshall, Fasano (who I think would benefit the most from Manning's arrival). If Manning and Bush end up reflecting the early Manning/Edge relationship... that excites me. And yes, I'm on the Wayne band-wagon to compliment Marshall. 2. Coaching staff. It's a new coaching staff and it's not like Manning would be coming into an already established mindset. Everyone would be building from the ground up from the get go. Also, I don't see Fox or Whisenhunt as Dungy-esque as Philbin. I think Philbin and Co. establishing an offensive strategy along with the leadership and experience of Manning.... It's a win win for Philbin and Manning. 3. Location. Manning and his family are already familiar with the area. 4. Fan Base. I don't think there is another fan-base out there as eager for Peyton's arrival than Miami. I hear the talk of a solid defense... but to be honest I have no idea what to expect out of our defense until we begin to fill the holes in FA. Our line will be rebuilt, and we still need help in the secondary. And all the talk about Manning's desire to beat up on Tom Brady? I don't think he cares that much about Brady... I think he's just eager to get another SB title soon before the end of his career. You sign Manning.... fix the OFF/DEF lines through FA... and you're a contender immediately. If we lose out to Manning, I think it would only be to AZ.... or SF if they decided to jump in last minute.
I am very concerned about the ramifications of FA for Long and Wake, not only how it would effect Manning decision but also the team for years to come. Anyone know how possible it is for us to hang on to them both. Rest mentioned above concern me much less. Oh and PRO: no state tax
