Back on topic. I sure hope you're wrong. But, fear you may be dead on. Just seems like that's this franchise bad karma these last 12-15 years. Hell, more like 25 really. Can't hardly remember when this organization had any relevance. Mid nineties maybe? But, maybe, just maybe the man above will smile on this once proud franchise and reward us with a 100% healthy, fully recovered, future HOF QB. And, his security blanket side kick to boot.

The way the Dolphins have played the last three seasons, it has appeared to be off season for them, even during the regular season.

At the risk of rehashing this argument ill respond with this. Opinions are opinions precisely because they are not backed up by facts, they are just personal views. You can disagree with me, thats fine, but don't dismiss my view because I don't present evidence. The world is built on opinion without evidence. See religion :).

As to Tannehill, i just don't see it. I've seen a few of his games, and he is just too raw. I can definitely not support spending a #8 overall pick on a player that is not ready to play immediately.

Take it from me, if you are thin skinned, this is not the forum for you. I frequently take a lot of heat from members of this forum because of my negative comments in regards to the owner, the GM and even the players, on occasion. I just let the negative comments roll right off my back. I too have stated on here numerous times that I think Tannehill will be a bust in the NFL. You have some people on here who feel differently than you and I do.

That is what forums like this are all about. Don't let the negative comments of some individuals deter you from expressing your opinion. In fact there may be times when you and I disagree and I can assure you, I won't take it personally. While I certainly disagree with a lot of the individuals on here from time to time and I have been told more than once to find another team to root for, I just laugh it off and continue to express my opinion. If all this forum was about was everyone agreeing with everything the Dolphins do, it wouldn't be much of a sports forum.

So stick in there and don't worry about the negative comments from some of the people on here. The reality is they don't know anymore than you do and their opinions are certainly no more or less valid than yours. Welcome to the forum and just let your skin become a little thicker.

A party always needs a pooper.

But truthfully, can you not see this scenario playing out.

It's fairly hard to be a bust when just about all his scouting reports say he needs work. Jake Locker was a tenured QB and still never showed what Tannehill showed. He went 8th.

That is why I am on here as often as I am. Sometimes I am just playing the, Devils advocate and I attempt to make some individuals on here see a different point of view. Some people on here just can't stand any negative comments regarding the Dolphins and I do enjoy trying to express a viewpoint which may not be popular on this forum. Yet as a fan who has followed the Dolphins since 1966 and who has attended nearly 400 regular season and playoffs games played by the Dolphins since 1966, I feel I have earned my right to express my opinion, whether others on here agree with me or not.

I love the Dolphins but that doesn't mean I have to love everyone associated with the team. I am not happy with the ownership of Ross so far and I can't stand Ireland as the teams GM. I am certainly hoping that both these men change my mind in regards to their abilities, but after the last few years, both of them have a long way to go, as far as I am concerned.

No Dude, they do that to the ones that have been here forever also. No worries tho, you'll get used to it.

    Anyway,back to your thread. I don't agree(like) your theory.
This Franchise needs to take a chance and take Manning. They owe it to us for all the mess ups they made in the past.:pity:
Moore is serviceable for another season, and they WILL address a QB in the draft. This season will be different.

Any scenario can play out at this point. What we really need to be hopeful of is that our new coach can actually coach. This team can improve quickly without Manning or RGIII or Tannehill.

There is always Weeden and Matt Moore is at least decent...

You ask a valid question and I am happy to answer it. I think the defense is above average, but I also think the that signing Soliai and Langford should be a priority if they want to continue to be a quality defense.
Bush certainly played much better last year than I thought he would and I give Ireland credit for that trade. I think the offensive line is average , as well as the rest of the offense, except for Marshall.

To be honest, I just expected the Dolphins to be much further along after the last four years than they are. To me they are a mediocre team that is only able to win games against other bad to mediocre teams.
My problem is with Ireland because I don't see him as a good player personnel director. Yes he has made some good trades and a few good selections in the draft. But the reality is that he has been the GM for the last four years and the Dolphins have gone backwards from the first year to year number four. I blame Sparano for some of this decline, but as the person responsible for providing the talent for the team, I blame Ireland more.

My problem with Ross is that he continues to support Ireland, while the team has continued to go from a playoff team in year one of the Parcells era to 6-10 last year when Ireland no longer had Parcells around to take the blame for all the player personnel decisions which have not worked out.

Obviously it would be easier to just give up on the entire organization and stop being a Dolphin fan. Unfortunately it just isn't that easy to do. While I may be upset with ownership, I continue to hope that both Ireland and Ross prove to me that I am wrong about their abilities to turn this team around. The Dolphins are in my heart and in my blood. While I am not happy right now with the Dolphins, the fact is that I have been a fan for so long and the organization has given me so much to be happy about over the years, I just can't stop rooting for them to turn it all around again.

I don't think anyone can truly understand how any team can become part of your entire soul, but they do. While the last decade has been heart breaking for many of us, I also have all the great years to remember and it is the totality of all those years which prevents me from ever rooting for any team but the Dolphins.

I don't complain about Ross and Ireland and other facets of the team because I don't want them to be successful. I merely have no other way of expressing my displeasure at the direction this team has taken over the last few years. I want nothing more than to be able to come on here and praise the Dolphin organization for all the great moves they are making. Right now though, it is difficult for me to see the organization I have loved and followed for so many years being compared to all the other lower tier teams in the NFL.

Is it the brand I really love? Possibly, but the reality is that 45 years of following this team has created a feeling in me that just wants the Dolphins to be what they once were. I have to wonder if any fan truly understands why they feel the way they do about a group of guys who are playing a child's game. I have to admit I'm not sure myself, but I am sure that even with my present displeasure with the ownership and the front office, my heart still bleeds aqua and orange, whether I want it to or not.

    Well away from here
Stats without being placed in the proper context are rather inconsequential. And, even then they only make up part of the puzzle and really shouldn't be the sole basis for any evaluation.

Actually this place isn't like that, but we do tend to lean on the back up your position with something other than 'he sucks'. There are plenty of those, so if that what you want to do go for it. Just don't be surprised when posters here ask to you to provide some substance to your opinion. In layman's terms why is Tannehill likely to be a bust if you feel this way?

If opinions don't work for you well a message board maybe the wrong medium for you to begin with.

Opinions are fine and healthy. I was not the one that had a problem with opinions. As I said on an earlier post, i feel Tannehill is too raw to be taken with the 8th pick. He'll have higher pressure to perform very soon at that high a pick, and i think that raw QB plus pressure to perform spells bust to me. Too high a risk and too high a pick for someone who isn't ready to perform yet.

I did not say that. I said Dolphins should have taken the risk, for a change. That move takes balls, and Dolphins have non. Make the safe pick again, you can never have too many 1st round O-linemen.
But yeah, you're right, Tannehill and Griffin have the same talent and potential.

I have no idea why this would surprise anyone. Who would you rather work for, Pat Bowlen, John Elway, and John Fox, or Ross, Ireland, and Philbin? As an owner, Bowlen has already seen his team win two Super Bowls. Elway is admired throughout the NFL and I am sure Manning has a great deal of respect for what Elway accomplished in his NFL career. Fox is an established HC in the NFL and he was able to lead the Broncos to the playoffs last year with Tim Tebow at QB. Ross has done nothing of significance as an NFL owner and he is recognized more for his failure to hire Harbaugh and Fisher than he is for anything else he has done as the owner of the Dolphins. Ireland is Ireland, enough said. While Philbin may or may not turn out to be a good HC. The reality is that he has no track record as a HC anywhere and Manning doesn't have a lot of years left to play. So I have to wonder if he really wants to sign with the Dolphins and wait and see if Philbin is a quality HC or not.

All things considered, I could certainly understand Manning selecting the Broncos over the Dolphins.

When I found out he was heading out to Denver I knew Manning to Miami was doomed. We still might have a shot but right now we have gone from the favorite to the longshot in a matter of hours. Like I said in another thread if he was as serious on us as we were led to believe he would not be sticking around Denver for another day, Elway has got him in his clutches and Manning seems to be submitting. While this is not Ross fault directly it is a strong indication of how little respected he is, Philbin might be a fine coach for us but the fact is no one was banging down his door to hire him, so it was an easy hire for Ross.

The bottom line is no one of great significance or star power wants to come to Miami anymore, and that was never the case, now it's the norm, and I think that depresses me more than losing Manning. Our last great hope is Philbin and that he turns into something special because if he flops we could be going through another five year cycle of mediocrity.

Personally I feel that the Dolphins would be better on defense if they stayed with the 3-4 defense which has made them a top ten defense the past two years. I feel Langford and Soliai are important parts of this defense and I think losing them will hurt the overall defense eventually. That is just my opinion, but I can certainly understand you disagreeing with me, based on the Dolphins planning their switch to a 4-3 defense.

As far as my other comments. I know a lot of long time fans of the Dolphins and many of them feel the same way I do. They just don't get on this forum and express their opinions about the team or the organization as a whole. They ***** and complain about the team but they don't want others to give them a hard time on a forum like this. I don't really care what others think about my feelings regarding the owner and the front office. If Ross and Ireland don't want individuals like me expressing negative comments about the way they are running the team, they can do something about it by actually providing the fans with a winning and exciting team again.

As I stated, I love the Dolphins, but I am not going to sit on the sidelines and praise them, when they have been nothing but mediocre for the last three years.

Very well. Draft him, develop him for 2 years while we roll with our aging franchise QB. Wait... whats wrong with this picture.

That's all dependent he does indeed pan out. Meanwhile 2 more years of crap, because hey, we have been so successful so far.
