Peyton Manning UPDATE: Miami has been ruled out (Post 885)

On these long threads, can I ask that a mod add to the title, when news links, or updated information is added?

In other words, once all of the news breaks on page 20 that Manning hates us and is in Denver, if you could add that to the thread title so we know where to find the latest news within the thread itself.

It works well at other forums I visit.

 

Using the suggestion forum might work better than this, or else, the mods might miss this suggestions, for the very same reason you are making a suggestion *mind blown*

If I were a mod, I'd change this thread title to "Sam Made A Suggestion". You, me, and maybe two other people would think it was funny.

 

I modded here for a little while. I know the work ethic of the other mods, and I am confident in that...they will miss this.

And what the hell, Sick? Making suggestions for proper forums? What are you...a mod? And if so...can you handle this suggestion for me?

Its not a good thing Manning is visiting Denver and Arizona befor Miami, Its a GREAT thing. If he chose to interview with us first , then other teams, I`d be worried because they could see whats on the table and then counter-offer. I`m quite confident we are still the front runners. I realize other teams could still counter-offer after us but it wont happen. Ross will make him a Dolphin at all costs.

 

This provided me with a healthy outward sounding chuckle. This will soon overtake LOL. HOSC > LOL.

 

i wish i still had my optimism but it totally just died off over the course of today. bleh.

Jeff Fisher visited Miami first, right? We all know how that turned out....glad he's coming here last. He can go to Miami and not leave.

I'm worried about trusting Ross and Ireland to make a good pitch though. They have to see this fanbase would be at it's lowest level ever if they miss on Manning. Screw Denver...half the people probably would still want Tebow. We've suffered longer than Denver and Arizona, at least they went to a Super Bowl and won some playoff games recently.

 

Manning has never been a free agent. I think he owes it to himself to figure out how this process works, let some people kiss his *** and do a tour of the interested teams facilities, coaching staff, players, etc.

Then when his robotic brain signs here in Miami, he will have the latest schematics of at least 12 other teams inner workings.

Peyton Machinning is in full effect.

 

Why? If he interviwed here first THEN went to hear what other teams have to offer I`d be a lot less optimistic. He chose to hear us last ,thats a plus.

I don't know how that would work given that everyone uses different page settings. For example I browse 40 pages per page because I read fast. You, on the other hand probably use 5 or 10.

Big O brings up 2 good points. Why trust Arizona to make such a great pitch? Their owner isn't much better. And Tebow has the same management as Peyton Manning.

 

CAA would definitely have a problem if Peyton lands in Denver.

I guess Condon has to do what Peyton wants, but his company can't like it. Tebow is their biggest star (Peyton included) and it does them no good financially to have him relegated to backup status again or shipped to some remote outpost like Jacksonville.

 

So? Do you think Manning cares about Tebow's welfare at the expense of his own (if he hypothetically likes Denver)?

 

Well, then Manning can find another agent if there's a conflict of interest.

 

Agents are powerful man. And these guys trust them.

Players get steered all the time by agents.

And not saying that the CAA connection will stop Peyton from signing there if he really wants to, but you can bet that condon won't recommend it when push comes to shove.

 

But you know Denver is probably leverage. Cardinals and Dolphins will offer more money and better weather, plus Fitzgerald and Marshall. Denver would have to make a really outstanding pitch. I guess they can...but we'll see.

 

iF Denver get Reggie and Manning and then makeit to the playoffs I will be so pissed especially if we get stuck with the same crappy wr corp . I wish Miami could get a superstar on offense because right now we have nobody that is a real threat . our guys are ok but we need some star power .Now if we cant get Manning then Ross will look foolish to me . if we miss out on Griffen ,Flynn and Weeden and get stuck with Tannyhill or the same ole qbs then Ireland needsto be fired.

 

Yeah, though I don't know how we can put much faith in a proposed Manning itenirary as compared to any of the other BS that passes for sports news.

But yeah, IF he's traveling to Miami last, I'd take that as a good sign. Imagine coming back to winter in Miami after spurning the home team and creating a fan revolt.

 

I read somewhere (not sure if it was on here or someplace else) that this was the big reason why Peyton wouldn't land in Denver. But I think it's pretty clear that Manning doesn't care about agency ties ... he's taking his release personal and is going to find the best situation for himself, even if he steps on some toes in the process.

Given what we know about his study habits, I fully expect him to be extremely thorough and pragmatic in deciding where he ultimately wants to play next year. As fans, I think that means we're in for a protracted, painful, and nervous time while Manning carefully reviews any and all options before making a decision.

The thoughts and dreams that he would simply fly to Miami and sign without even considering anyone else or talking to any other teams was probably a pipe dream that was never going to happen.

 

Peyton just wants to hear all his offers so he knows how much to ask for in Miami.

 

So I assume Ross is chasing him across the country in an F-15.

 

Like I said, it won't stop him if that's what he really wants to do, but when Peyton sits down Monday night after meeting with all three teams and says:

"Tom, what do you think?"

I don't like Denver's chances

 

It all seems like a normal free agent visit, however Denver and Arizonas coaches found it odd when Manning demanded the defenses playbook.......

 

An agent isn't more powerful than Peyton Manning, and I think Manning knows what's best for Manning when it comes to football. He's also not an idiot.

After recent history, this being our coaching hopefuls first visit, and then losing out on them once they left...I am thrilled this is Mannings last visit, not his first.

Weigh the other offers, then get it done where you really want to be.
