Yup. At least 2 weeks. I didn't give two flying ****s about Jeff Fisher, and I was going crazy waiting for that situation to resolve itself. This is going to be maddening. Between this and having a kid on the way my life is nothing but pent up anxiety for the next month.

You know what, as long as we make some sort of aggressive move towards solving our QB problem I dont care if it is Manning or Flynn or Tannenhill or trading up for RGIII. I just want our front office to show that the QB position is a priority to them. Of course I want the move to pay off but before that you actually have to MAKE A MOVE.

well i have a hard time believing that manning came down here for the dolphins job at least for now, since that herald report came out its all seems pretty bogus but i would like to know if manning was at the heat game ?

    LOL

Paul made it to the NFL so he must have made some plays as well.

Tannehill threw 531 passes, over 10% were dropped. You're right about him missing passes high though. I just really like his arm talent and feet. I wonder if he had stayed a WR if he would have been a 1st round prospect? That's a football player.

Exactly. I'll never ever fault him for trying.

My nightmare is we go balls out for Peyton, swing and miss. Flynn sees the asses we make of oursevles falling all over Manning and goes to another team. We have no ammo to move up for RGIII, another team drafts Tannehill, and we go into 2012 with Matt Moore as the unrivaled starter. The Ireland fan club defends him with increased fervor stating there was just "no move to be made". He somehow hangs onto his job despite another year of doing nothing to solve the QB issue and we go another 10 years with 2nd round bums taking turns at QB.

Please Ireland. Make my nightmare end.

I'll admit I was skeptical about Peyton being healthy to start this year at QB. He's definitely given me the impression that his arm strength is returning and would be ready by the start of training camp. This is absolutely amazing!!! Peyton doesn't seem to be the type of person who would bs about his health. I'm definitely getting NFL game day this year if we sign Manning. It would be like the Marino days. You would watch every game because you knew Marino could bring the Fins back at any time. Hell yeah!!!! Sign Peyton, Trade back and draft DeCastro. HAHHAAHA!!!! QB, O-line fixed!!!! Hell the entire offense is ready to go. Irish just needs to draft some pass rushers. Ok, I'm coming back down from my high.

Honestly I think Bess and Hartline are perfect fits for Manning at WR (even though I'd still want to upgrade the #2 spot). They both strike me as smart WR's who can find an open space on the field. I think with a guy like Manning directing them they could be very productive moving the chains.

9 career TDs in college...lots of fumbles, drops and boneheaded plays....hard worker when something is in it for him....

As to Tannehill, I think he needs to be a WR in the pros.

I wouldn't say he lit up new England that game Matt, unless you call having three turnovers, including a pick six, and a fumble on the last drive that lost the game lighting a team up..he played a tough game I'll give him that.

I just can't see how, if we make a run for Flynn,he goes elsewhere. I mean, go to the team where your offense is already installed, that you had mild success with? Or take a gamble that you get inserted into a system that doesn't mesh well with your skills.

    Anything can happen,, but still.

He's 36 and coming off 4 neck surgeries. I'm gun shy given our QB injury recent history.

Imo what the "don't sign Manning do the sensible thing instead and make a run at Flynn"

Phinfans need to understand is the Dolphins franchise is semi up against the ropes right now, the sort of bland check bet style this franchise has run since hiring JJ has sucked the life out of the Franchise Brand itself, and sometimes in that situation you have to make a move that perhaps is not the best football decision to jump start things

A "good" football decision is taking Reily Reif at #8 (barf) and signing Flynn, but guess what, no one will give a damn when September rolls around..same old boring Dolphins, we are not even Jan Brady in the AFCE.

That MUST be flipped around, even if that means signing Manning and he plays 1 yr.

I've stated my opposition to Manning coming to Miami due to the elevated risk I see in protecting a player with this kind of injury, one that caused him to miss all of last season. That being said, should we pull the trigger and by some miracle was able to sign Manning, the following should be our priorities.

-Shore up the offensive line. Peyton Manning is going to need SOLID protection, a solid stone wall in which he can stand in the pocket and not have to worry about getting hit, from either up the middle or from the right side of the line. I believe we are set from the center to the left side of the line, although Long and Pouncy have been nagged by injuries. Like our soldiers over here in Afghanistan, they are protected from IED's by MRAPs when traveling around the country, Manning needs the football equivalent in order for him to be effective.

Although our defense ranked well last year, we lacked that pass rush to get to the quarterback. If we can't make Tom Brady, Drew Brees, et al run for their freaking lives from the pass rush we put on them, we're going to get lit up. Additionally, the secondary needs an upgrade as well...a safety or cornerback that instills instant fear into quarterbacks that even think of throwing the ball their way.

Peyton Manning is a great player and a great leader. He does elevate the level of play in the players around him. I believe we are set at the running game. I believe that Manning will be able to elevate the level of our receivers, so we're set there. Matt Moore clearly demonstrated to me he has all the skills and with this quarterback heavy coaching staff we have coming in, his game will only improve, so I wouldn't even think about taking a quarterback in the draft. Defensively, I think we need only those couple of tweeks and we'll be set, but priority one if we do sign Manning is getting a solid offensive line for him to play behind, then let his skills manage the rest.

No matter how great of a captain you have, a ship with a hole in it is still going to sink...and we need to patch up the right side of our ship so the captain can sail smoothly...if we do indeed sign Manning.

Let me just throw in my two cents on his injury situation.

It is a nonissue now. The doctors have said that because of the fusion, his neck will now be stronger than it was before the injury. The only problem was the nerve regeneration, and in light of recent events, it would seem the arm strength is back. Your only issue in bringing him in, would be making it happen and not hampering the salary cap too much. If your team has other holes, obviously at RT, maybe Dline, and Safety, they better get those fixed in the draft and not resort to free agency.

Also in Indy our Oline has been on par with the worst in the league for the last 4 years or so. Sure we've had Jeff Saturday, but he's old as s*** and has been the only one with any ability. Peyton would have enough time with 3 punching bags as an interior line, a corpse at LT, and Marc Colombo at RT. Your oline could be upgraded, but it's not that important with a guy like Peyton Manning taking snaps.

The signing of Manning is reported to be the owners number one priority at this time. Of course the last couple of times Ross made hiring a particular person the teams number one priority, he failed to close the deal. That is why Harbaugh and Fisher are now coaching teams in other cities. While I certainly hope Ross is successful this time. I just have to wonder what it will say about this owner and this organization if Manning decides to take his services elsewhere? Especially if the Dolphins do end up offering him the most money, as it is being reported they are willing to do.

I think Ross is now officially on the hot seat and it is time that he shows he can actually close the deal, when it comes to actually signing someone he has made his number one priority.

Yeah I don't get the fascination with drafting Tannehill and signing Manning. You sign Manning, you are going with him and Moore, and I think Moore is better than people think. Let me tell ya, Tannehill doesn't beat out Moore anyway. Tannehill would be for year 2 or 3. I would rather draft that young QB down the road, and focus on filling our gaps so we have a shot with Peyton. No way Ireland is doing this either - can you imagine if we signed Peyton, and then we come short of Super Bowl because we lacked a playmaker on defense that was taken at number 8 ? Might as well fire yourself.
