Anyone else think that the connection Peyton has with Wayne and Wayne wanting to return to Mia could work very well for us? EDIT: [wanye went to the U] Peyton the traditionalist and wanting a connection.... I can see how our biggest competition (AZ) with little tradition and no connection for Wayne etc could be falling behind. As of now we have the odds on best chance, according to vegas odds, to land Peyton! Lets hope.

After years of getting my hopes up and being burned, I am waiting and seeing with this situation. If/when we sign Manning then and only then will I get excited.

If we sign Manning, I see no reason why Wayne wouldnt come here also.

Manning makes Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon look like awesome WRs imagine what he will do with Marshall and Bess?!?!

Hear what you are saying about disapointment! I have only seen one post season game...where mia lost to jax by about 60 pts. Having said that though I just cant see Peyton on the west coast and if Wayne had a preference (and he was quoted saying winning a SB in mia would "be a storybook ending") he may just sway Peyton further.

I am not one to do this, but lets correct this now before he even signs here........

It's Peyton with an "e" not an "a"

    Peyton Manning.

It used to bug me when people called him Zack Thomas. When it was ZacH

But anyways, if Wayne can be a driving force to get Manning here it would be awesome. No state taxes, solid core around us, owner that wants to spend, warm weather etc.

Also, it's been floating around twitter, Manning can sign but can't report to his new team until April UNLESS the team has a NEW coaching staff (the Dolphins do. the seahawks and cardinals do not)

I think picking up Reggie Wayne along with Peyton Manning might be stretching what the team can do financially in the off-season. I think it would be a pretty good decision, if they could afford it.

At this stage in his career, I don't think of Wayne as a #1 WR, but he'd be a pretty good #2 WR opposite Marshall. Keep Bess in the slot and mix it up with Gates as the deep threat and the offense could look pretty good.

How bout Manning and NO Wayne.

He would make Brian Hartline look like Ed Mccaffery.

Reggie Wayne gets animated about the possibility of playing with Peyton in Miami

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...-possibility-of-playing-with-peyton-in-miami/

Dude, Wayne is jacked about coming down here with Peyton. He will definately have a influence on peytons decision. And it will be MIAMI. Where he played in college... NOT AZ or anywhere else... He will be in all in peytons ear saying miami...miami...Our offense will be downright scary... Manning, Bush, Marshall, Wayne, Bess, Long... Our D.... Sherman... Philbin... The opportunity to become GREAT is there for the taking we gotta go GET IT we can't let it pass us by no matter how good our plans B and C are. We are already the favorites according to Vegas and alot of people... We have this situation right where we want it, dont let it slip away. Just think about how great it can make the whole CITY... The Heat have a freakin dynasty and SHOULD BE celebrating their finals victory right before we open OTAs... Marlins have a ton of buzz around Ozzy Guillen, Jose Reyes, new logos, uni, and stadium... Dolphins are next in line! Lets make this happen! Im visualizing it right now man... Im just as jacked as reggie wayne was in that interview!

The piece's are there, we just need to really put them together...how much better could our defense be if they were able to play a little more free all the time because we are up 10 or 14 points because we actually have an offense that can score points. I think our defense could have a whole new dimention. I would love to just see how it plays out, I mean we have lived for over 10+ years with terrible QB play, why not take the chance on a proven HOF quarterback and give him a shot. Best that happens obviously is that we become a dominant team again and maybe get a superbowl or two, worse that happens is we are right back in the same spot we are in right now and we are looking for a QB through the draft or free agency. I dont think there is a prospect out there at this time that is can't miss that we really have a chance at getting our hands on. Were not getting Luck or RG3, those are the only two people I would give up on Peyton for.

Peyton is loaded (not the Namath kind) and I don't think Wayne is hurting for cash either despite paying his phone bill in advance, so I could genuinely see the two of them taking a lesser salary to be together for 2 main reasons:

    A. one last shot at a Championship (the obvious reason).
    B. b/c you KNOW Peyton is burning to show up Irsay, and if that means taking a reduced salary to have Manning & Wayne together and still make some FA moves, then they'll likely do it b/c they're at the point in their career and life where money is less important than either winning with the little time they have left or sticking it to Indy.

The Dolphins were also the heavy favorite to sign Fisher as their new HC. How did that work out?

I have being saying on here for several weeks that I think Manning could very likely end up playing for the Jets. So it would not surprise me in the least if the Dolphins aren't having to contend with both Manning and Brady in their division next year. This would basically leave the Dolphins fighting for third place in the AFC East with the Bills, once again.

I honestly think Manning is going to end up with the Cardinals, but the Jets have shown over the recent years that they are capable of signing any player they go after in free agency. The only reason I don't make them the odds on favorite right at this time is that they haven't expressed the same interest in signing Manning that the Dolphins have. That could change now that Manning is reported to be in much better health than was reported just a few weeks ago.

It should be very interesting to see where he signs in the next week or less. Having Manning with the Jets and Brady and Belichick still with the Patriots is my worst nightmare. If the Dolphins don't get Manning, I hope he signs with anyone else but the Jets.

I would love to see Manning sign with the Dolphins. I just don't have a whole lot of faith in Ross and Ireland and their ability to close the deal. I want nothing more than for them to prove me wrong, but history tends to show that when it comes to signing the top coaches or top players available, these two have had little success. Perhaps that is the reason the Dolphins are 20-28 over the last three seasons.

It really doesn't matter if you think it worked out great or not. The fact is that Ross made signing Fisher his priority when he was conducting his search for a new HC. He failed in this effort to sign the man he wanted and he was forced to take a second choice. I think Fisher is going to do a great job with the Rams and I expect the Rams to be a playoff team in the next year or two.

I found it really interesting that Fisher was quoted as stating the reason he decided to take the Rams job was because he, "liked the QB situation with the Rams and he was highly impressed by the ownership of the Rams. To me, it seemed like this was a direct knock on Ross and the entire Dolphin organization.

Philbin may end up being a very good HC, but this does not deflect from the fact that Ross was not able to sign the HC he really wanted in the first place.

The fact is that the Rams were almost a playoff team in 2010. Last year they had numerous injuries to their starters , including Bradford. I think they will end up trading their first round pick and they will be able to get enough picks in return to be able to add several quality starters to their team this year and in 2013.

I happen to think that Fisher is a very good HC and I think he will turn the Rams around rather quickly. In fact I see the Rams making the playoffs in the NFC before the Dolphins make the playoffs in the AFC, unless the Dolphins actually sign Manning.

The Rams were terrible in 2010, they just happened to be in a terrible division. The Rams have a terrible offense. They need receivers and offensive line. Hopefully for them Jackson isn't breaking down, however he is the type of runningback who can have running down problems.

They have some players on defense, however have a terrible secondary.

The Seahawks of 2011 are a MUCH better team than the playoff team of 2010 and the 49ers are a team on the rise. I highly doubt the Rams make the playoffs in 2013. Fisher would have to hit on every draft pick to get enough talent on that team. Also their offensive coordinator is Brian Schotenhimer, which doesn't look good for having a good enough offense to contend with the good Seahawk and 49er defense.

I think Fisher is a good coach, however he is going to have to prove to be a good GM to get that team up and running.

I have no idea if Manning will end up with the Jets or not. I just don't preclude them as a contender in the Manning sweepstakes. I actually think that the 49ers would be the best place for him to sign, but it appears that the 49ers have no interest in signing him. I think he is far better than the 49ers present QB, Smith, and with Manning as the 49ers starting QB next year, I think the 49ers would be the odds on favorite to win the Super Bowl going into the season.

Interesting. Smith had a decent year but nothing to suggest he is a superstar QB in the making. If they decided not to resign him that would be a very bold and interesting move.

Fortunately the NFL will be playing in 2012 and 2013, so we will all be given the opportunity to see how the Rams play under Fisher. Obviously Fisher looked at the Dolphins roster and ownership and the Rams roster and ownership and he thought the Rams job was the better of the two jobs. Perhaps he made the wrong decision, but time will tell. As someone who does not think that highly of the player personnel skills of Ireland, I can certainly understand why Fisher decided to take the Rams job and not have to deal with Ireland on a daily basis.

Yes Fisher did look at both, however the only place where the Rams are better is having a young quarterback.

However to get that team in the playoffs by 2013 will be a miracle.

Harbaugh stated after the season that he wanted Smith to return in 2012. Also as I stated, the 49ers have not been a team associated with an interest in Manning so far. Yet with their great defense and strong running game, along with Manning's ability to turn average receivers into stars, it just makes sense to me that he would be a perfect fit to be the one player the 49ers need to reach the Super Bowl next year.

The fact that the 49ers have not shown any interest in Manning so far is a bit perplexing to me, but obviously Harbaugh feels like he can get to the Super Bowl without having to change his offense to suit Manning. Based on how well the 49ers played this past season, maybe they don't need him, but I still think this would be the best team for Manning at this stage of his career. It appears the 49ers just don't agree with me right now.

The Rams won the Super Bowl in 1999. They went 13-3 during the regular season that year and won the NFC west and the Super Bowl with a QB who worked in a supermarket and played in the Arena Football league the previous year. In 1998, the Rams had finished last in the NFC West with a 4-12 record. So obviously miracles do happen in St Louis.

Fisher was offered more money in Miami and the owner had stated that Fisher was the coach he wanted for his organization. So it certainly must have been more than the Rams having a young QB which caused Fisher to take the Rams job and to turn down the Dolphins. Personally I just don't think Fisher had any desire to work with Ireland and he certainly didn't want to have to answer to Ireland.

Amazing turnarounds happens, however they are not common place. Also just because it happened once in St Louis doesn't mean it will happen again.

Personally I am happy about that because the choices Fisher has made with his offensive coordinator is enough for me to be happy he isn't work with Ireland.

I get that you do not like Ireland. I do not understand why you would prop up the Rams just to try to prove your point.
