Some of you guys are being a bit unreasonable. First, Irish was not running this draft by himself. Tuna was still heavily involved. This was also the offseason after our D completely stunk it up with Pasqualoni. We needed LBs badly at that time. Our best lb was arguably Clam Chowder at that time!!! You can't blame the regime for doubling down on lbs that draft. I certainly wouldn't equate that roll of dice as snake eyes....more like a 6 or 8.

He's not at all below average. He's a quite good run defender, and while that's not all you want, he's certainly not a bust either. He's better than all but a couple of players on the board both at his position and overall.

Misi can cover quite well. Something tells me your assessment is based on your intense and personal hatred of Ireland than any unbiased and guru worthy viewing of Misi or Edds.

I could be wrong, but I guarantee I'm not.

When asked about Misi's passrushing, he said "he's not Cameron Wake that way, but he will develop"

    Uhm, yeah, about that.

JT made it a point to say you need players like Koa, and you do, not at 40th overall, if anything we could have went Gronk/Graham/Hernandez/Moeki at #40 and just taken Edds in the 4th rd anyway. That is why this move stinks like old chicken in the dumpster.

It is unbelievable how Ireland lovers only see the positives. I constantly am amazed, because these Ireland supporters want to credit him for all the players who have played decently over the last four years. Yet if a player the Dolphins signed or drafted in this time period ended up as a bust, these same Ireland fans will point out that Parcells was involved in these decisions so Ireland can't be blamed for all the bad draft picks and free agent signings.

You can't have it both ways Ireland lovers. The fact is that Ireland was hired as the GM of the Dolphins four years ago. He wasn't hired as a yes man for Parcells. It was his job as the teams GM to evaluate the players the team selected in the draft and in free agency. No one, including me, wanted to give Sparano a pass because he was forced to coach with the players selected by Ireland while Parcells was still with the team. Yet Ireland is granted a pass by these Ireland supporters because according to them, Ireland is responsible for all the good player personnel decisions while Parcells obviously made all the bad player personnel decisions. Also these Ireland supporters blame Sparano and Parcells for the teams record over the past four years, because according to them, Ireland can do no wrong.

Perhaps when the Dolphins once again finish at 500 or below next season, these Ireland fans will finally see the light. Unfortunately with him as the teams GM, it only means that fans of the team, and not fans of Ireland, will have to suffer through another mediocre year on the field by the players Ireland is responsible for supplying the coaching staff.

As far as Ireland doubling down to improve the LB corp goes. I have no problem with selecting LB's, since that was a need at the time. What I have a problem with is that he drafted one LB who never played a down for the Dolphins before he was cut. The other LB has been nothing more than ordinary since he came to the team. In fact Misi played worse this past season than he did in his rookie season and he was replaced on the field by an old Jason Taylor on obvious passing downs. The fact that the Dolphins are said to be looking for an upgrade for Misi, clearly shows that drafting him in the second round was another mistake by Ireland. Of course Parcells was still with the Dolphins during that draft , so I guess you can blame all the bad picks of that draft on Parcells, as usual.

I don't find that to be true. Most people credit/blame Ireland for the picks he made after Parcells left and for the ones he clearly was responsible for prior to that. Those were Bess, Wake and Marshall. Even the trade down for Odrick/Misi, which I have been critical of was after a Parcells' mandate to reacquire a 2nd round pick, so without more information I can't even say if Ireland had any other options to fulfill that mandate. IMO this is a much more fair way to assess his work rather than to just simplistically say the team was bad and Ireland had a title so he must be blamed for everything.

Yes, you caught me. I'm in love with Irish!:bless: In all seriousness I agree with some of your points. Yes, Edds was a big miss and Misi is average at best. I think most on this board are just saying to give Irish a fair shot. If he sucks it up again with this draft than I'll be the first in line with you to bury the hatchet.

BTW, I absolutely believe he and Morano were Parcell's yes men. This is where you and I differ but it doesn't change our past draft choices so it's a moot point. Hopefully we can hit a home run this April and fix this freaking Oline and get some damn play makers!
