I wouldn't go on a team with Channing playing Linebacker either. That guy just doesn't have it.

And he should stop hating on the Phins. They made some good moves during the last weeks and I think that we are back on track with Philbin and Sherman.

Channing Crowder who is so talented that another team picked him up. Whoops...that never happened, did it. Guess Ireland was right on that cut.

Bitter man, with no game to back it up imo..No explosiveness at impact to force a fumble, no athleticism to change direction, or play the flat effectively, no ability to cover after the first 10 years, if he guesses wrong, he's out of the play..can he line up players, sure, does he have some football acumen, sure..Its just not enough to cover up his other glaring weaknesses.

Good release by Irish..Burnett was an upgrade..

Would anyone realistically take Crowder over Burnett? in any way shape or form?

Or...maybe when he says "Guys in the building know what he's about" there's some merit because, you know, he's been in the actual building?

    /probably should duck, but doesn't

I'm not going to completely throw Crowder under the bus, but he's a 2 down LBer in a league where you no longer can afford that. We play the likes of NE, NYJ, Cleveland, Texans, NO, GB, Seattle, Wash who all play a style of offense that dictates a need for more than a thumper at LBer (in either scheme). We missed his ability to set the D up for half a season, no doubt, but we also got beyond that. Burnett is not as good a run stopper as Crowder, but overall his game is better for that position.

As to Irish and how Crowder feels...who really cares ?? I didn't get along with everyone on the staff where I worked, but like Crowder, I didn't see them every day either, so who really cares... The problem is that because Crowder has been so publicly against Irish, it's gotten to the point that the fans no longer care that who he likes or dislikes, it's all sour grapes... If he were a better player, that might be different. But his ability limited what the D could do and upgrading the guys we have is Ireland's job... Crowder's job should be to be a better player...

I dont know how anyone could come to the conclusion that someone is a horrible person w/o ever meeting them. I mean, if there are documented incidents like say, Hitler, sure. But what incidents do we have of Ireland being a horrible person other than asking a legitement question about Dez Bryant's mother? lol

If it were a legitimate question, 31 other GM's would've asked it. But that debate is dead and over with. Not suggesting I have INSIDE KNOWLEDGE or a SOURCE within the Miami Dolphins, but let's just say I have clients who are employed by the team and have not heard many nice things about the guy. So I guess I have my own reason for thinking he's a total douche, beyond what's been said about him in the media.

This is business. I don't care if he's a douche if he gets the job done. People aren't in this to make friends, they're in it to win Super Bowls. Chock the organization full of the 50 biggest douchebags in the world, as long as they know what they're doing and it produces wins no one is gonna cry about it. Not players, not fans, no one. I don't think Channing Crowder ever grasped that. He just sounds very bitter now.

Geez, FinNasty, you're too level-headed! LOL Seriously, you're constantly saying reasonable things, it's crazy! LOL

There's really no way to know what Jeff's character is. He asked a trouble maker a question to see how he would react to difficult questions. Seems like a smart interviewer to me. I guess fans just dont like how he presses his lips together in press conferences. Cause as a scout, he's good. As a thorough interviewer, he's good. What else do you want out of a first time GM?

Funny everything is focused on the messenger not the message.

If the word on the street is Ireland is a douche will key free agents not want to come here?

If Ireland drafts well then who cares. You don't win with key free agents anyway. They help. But you build through the draft.

That said nobody was a better talent acquirer than AJ Smith and he's a big douche. Different scenario though since Ireland has been neutered by Ross and didn't get to install a puppet coach. Maybe Ross thinks Ireland is a douche too.

Carl Peterson is also a douche, as is Bill Parcells for that matter. Maybe Ross just likes to surround himself with Douche? My biggest problem with Ireland was that he got to stay while Sparano didn't. To me, they were a package deal. A lot of people here give Ireland a pass who DIDN'T give one to Sparano. Not sure why the inconsistency there.

The only example Crowder gives is the Bryant fiasco.

There are people, even on these boards, that have heard the story of what happened and still judge Ireland harshly by that one event. With Ireland actively trying to replace Crowder with a big play LB, isn't it feasible for Crowder to be bitter and justify his anger with the only public reference there is of Ireland being "douchy"?

Or maybe he's right and Ireland is evil.

Either way, has any FA turned us down for a lesser deal?

Ryan Clark, Antrel Rolle and Ahmad Bradshaw all got us pretty good. Pretty sure Bradshaw took less money, think Clark did as well. Call it leveraging, call it what you want, Ireland couldn't land them. Aside from Dansby, has he landed anyone else noteworthy in FA?

To which I say, "good" Ireland maybe weaseled his way into Ross's good graces, but we all watch the games, we've all watched the moves, it is time for Ireland to perform, or go.

Then no, he hasn't. In a lot of ways, it's good that he's focusing more on the draft. But we still lack a FS; a position he's tried to fill for several years now without success.

Rolle got pretty crazy money if I recall correctly. Clark and Bradshaw used us to leverage their current teams, and they didnt leave their teams. Its not like those players went on to play elsewhere. I would say Burnett was noteworthy...

Yes, he's missed and there are areas he needs to address, but people need to stop acting like he hasn't brought in any talent. For the first time in our long history, we had a 1,000 yard receiver and a 1,000 rusher in the same season. Guess who brought those guys to our team? Yet, no one seems to talk about the good he's done. People only like to talk about the bad.

I agree, we need to get better overall. I want to win Super Bowls, and Ireland needs to do more than he's done to get us there, but some people are way too negative.

But...but..."It's a business!". You're judged in the NFL by wins and losses. This isn't fantasy football. No one cares about 1000 yard rushers and receivers if they amount to 6 meaningless wins after starting 0-7. That's the reality. Everything else is moot until he signs a franchise QB. You think I like calling this guy out while sorting through posts of people defending him for neglecting the most important position in sports? Well, ok, I do...BUT IT'S STILL A LOT OF TYPING AND I COULD DEVELOP A SLIGHT BLISTER AT SOME POINT.

Well, it's comforting to hear that we were LEVERAGED and had no real shot of signing either of those guys. Because that's much less embarrassing than knowing we had an actual shot but were just used like a cheap bathroom towel from a hotel that gives hourly rates.

As opposed to what? What should a "good" GM have done in that case? Not try to persue and persuade them at all?

This is a business. Leveraging happens all the time. Its an agent's job...
