With the coaching staff we have assembled and the talented core we have, (not to mention south Florida is a helluva place to live) I can see Miami as being a very popular destination for FAs.

It's interesting that with Moore's performance in 2011, Marshall doesn't view him as a franchise guy. You'd think Marshall would have his back, but judging by this story... maybe not.

Marshall needs to learn from Bush. I was extremely impressed with Bush's leadership, even going as far as saying the team sucked when they did. Bell didn't like that when they were 0-6 or something but that type of attitude was the problem.

Bush handled himself very well this year in interviews and supporting his quarterback. I was lukewarm on him coming the Miami but he's proven to be a tremendous deal for what we gave up.

Two totally different personalities though. Marshall has to think hard before he speaks because his mouth gets him into trouble.

My main reaction to this is one of shock, shock that Marshall actually knows who Matt Flynn is and is apparently on first name terms with him.

Otherwise it's just normal player talk, no big deal, and I doubt anybody takes it as seriously as fans on message boards do. Everybody knows we're adding another QB including Matt Moore, and as a grown up I'm sure he is ok with the competition.

I don't understand what Marshall is complaining about. If he had GREAT hands he could've had 4-6 more touchdown catches this year. He should take a lesson from his name. Mar shall will catch the ball.

If he would've had better thrown balls he would've had more TDs as well. I'm not excluding the fact that he drops passes, thats inexcusable but when Henne and Moore are throwing to you and you can get 80 receptions and over 1000 yards each year thats very impressive. He's still a pro bowl WR and we need some actual talent throwing him the ball to turn him into a top 3 WR again.

Maybe he's complaining because he's a winner, and he knows you can't win with mediocre QB talent like Matt Moore.

he might have talked with him last year as well ... as Flynn was a 'potential' candidate to come here then.

one of my lieutenants' brother was a personal friend of his (dating back to LSU) and remains such -- and know last year, MIA was on his list of destinations.

the good news is that Sherman knows offense - and he generally goes with a balanced attack. this draft could be interesting, as Sherman drafted Bubba Franks, Javon Walker, etc in GB and rode Ahmad Green pretty hard behind a good OL .... we currently have a similar sized Daniel Thomas, and our WRs are not as bad as they're made out to be -- so would expect fixing the OL and TE to be a priority for Sherman in this draft. Believe that QB will be handled in FA.

I still don't get how anybody wants to bet the house on Flynn, one good game and he is the next Dan Marino. I would not invest in this guy unless he comes really really cheap.

TBQH, I felt the same way when the Bears used Caleb Hanie in the postseason last year and the Bears damn near won. I thought with some work he could be serviceable as a QB. Well, he got his shot and stunk up the joint. So the moral of the long story is even as fans we can't base a desire for a player to be signed just based off of one game's performance.

Is there a QB Marshall has ever played with that he hasn't thrown under the bus?

Marshall must be every QB's dream receiver. First, he will drop their TD passes and then he will publicly criticize them.

That's interesting. Denver was 13-3 in 2005 the year before Marshall was drafted and 9-7 in Marshall's rookie season in 2006 when he had a limited role. Marshall has been "the man" at WR for 5 seasons and no team he has played on has had a winning record during those 5 years.

And no player hurt Miami more during the 0-7 start than Brandon Marshall did this year.

While I don't believe Moore has the potential to be a franchise QB, I'd probably prefer if our star receiver (and our GM for that matter) didn't give the impression that he (they) didn't believe that Moore could be a franchise QB. As for the rest of the criticism of Marshall, IMO it is unwarranted. He drops passes, but that's always been the case. He also produces and draws coverage that helps others produce. The drops are a bigger deal in an offense where you have little ability to overcome them. It was less of an issue in the second half of the season when the OL gelled and we started hitting more big plays. It should be the same in Philbin/Sherman's offense. In GB, their receivers dropped a ton of passes, despite an incredibly accurate QB, but that offense still produced pinball scores.

You, me, nor anybody else on this board has coached Matt Flynn. But Joe Philbin has. And if Joe Philbin thinks Flynn is franchise material, who are we to disagree? We've seen a few games. He's seen him everyday in practice for 4 years.

There are quite a few players who hurt Miami more actually. Henne was awful. Matt Moore was awful. The entire defense was awful. As for Marshall, yes, I'm sure his 100 catch 1200 yard seasons are the reasons his teams aren't making playoffs. Not the 28th ranked defense in 2008. Or the 20th offense and defense in 2009 after trading away Cutler. And he's also the reason we can't make the playoffs. Not having Tony Sparano as a head coach, and Chad Henne as a QB. Or our defense which pads its stats on ****ty offenses before letting the team down against the good ones.

I think Marshall is just speaking the truth. We aren't going to win a super bowl with Matt Moore as our QB. Despite the amount of drops Marshall had last year he's still a great WR. Roddy White actually led the league in drops and I don't hear people bashing him all over the place. Of course he has Matt Ryan to throw to him who some consider to be a franchise QB. How good would White be with Moore/Henne throwing to him?
In my opinion Brandon Marshall is the second most talented wideout in the league behind Calvin Johnson jr. If Marshall had a top flight QB throwing to him this is all a moot point.
He's speaking the truth. I don't see the T.O comparison at all. From what I remember Owens had good QB's that he played under like McNabb, Garcia, Romo, Steve Young, and Palmer. Thats a completely different situation than what Brandon Marshall has faced.

Marshall Trying To Recruit Flynn To Miami
28th January, 2012 - 11:28 am

[IMG]NFL.com - Brandon Marshall says he has reached out to Matt Flynn about coming to the Dolphins to play quarterback.

"You've got some guys in the draft, but there's not too many guys out there just walking the streets," Marshall said.

"Matt is available. ... We've talked. I reached out to him. I get it from Ray Lewis. Around this time of year, players talk to players."

Flynn has served as the backup to Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay, but is set to hit the open market.

But you said he was a winner. What has he won and has he helped any team win?

Disregard whether he helped teams or not. His teams have not won. Did he win in college? High school? When?

BM isn't even Terrell Owens. His teams won

I called him a winner? I sure don't recall that. But I do know that he's a team guy, who keeps his problems off the field. I also believe that Marshall wants to win, and will do what it takes to win, which makes him a winner in my book, regardless of if he's actually won or not. And besides, it's a team sport. Is anyone going to try and tell me Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson, and Larry Fitzgerald are the reasons their teams suck/sucked as well? Or that they're somehow not winners because the people running their teams are incapable of putting together a winning team?

exactly since Moore basically force fed him the ball and pretty much ignored the other receivers

In his career, he has averaged 82 rec, 1041 yrds and 5.7 TDs per year. Marshall averaged 103 rec, 1350 yrds and 6.5 tds with Jay Cutler, arguably a top flight QB (at least in the 2nd tier of guys behind Brady, Brees, Rivers, Mannings)...His stats with a 'lesser' QB this year, 81/1214/6...Other than receptions, I don't see a difference there... Looks to me that his stats are close to the same (especially since TDs make the biggest impact), no matter who is throwing to him ??

I wouldn't argue that he is in the top 5-7 guys in the league, but a better QB won't necessarily make a difference in his stats, which is a tribute to him that he can maintain his play. I do think he has too many drops and that certainly has cost us this past two years...he's paid to make those catches, not drop them. In fact, I'd say he's played a big role in Henne NOT progressing due to the drops...but that's my opinion...
