And who was that rookie pro bowl QB throwing him 2 of those TDs? Andy Dalton? Too bad Jeff Ireland couldn't have seen his way to drafting a fellow ginger...

Now I give Brandon more credit than Killer has in the past but agree with Killer on his quote. Marshall gets up for big games, and even more when he can get attention. Now the pro's do that so thats great, but for Marshall to reach his full potential he needs to keep himself motivated all the time. He's learning and i would hope even killer saw the strides the guy made this year (kinda think his statement was a nod to marshall imo?). But Absolutley " Marshall is only as good as he wants to be"!

Congrats #19 heck of a show!

EDIT: Guess i should change my avatar lol

Roughly 200 kids up to the age of 24 die per day in this country IIRC.

Are you saying that the abundance of death-related humor should be off limits?.....
.... Or are you saying that, because Darrent Williams played in the NFL and is a recognizable figure, he should be treated differently?

IMO the latter is discriminatory and could be deemed disrespectful to the random, faceless population whom we as society routinely poke humor at.
If you feel it's tasteless to make a joke (5 years later) that involves a recognizable 24 year old losing his life (but was more directed at Marshall), then I hope you regard each of the 2.5 million annual deaths with the same regard & conviction.

Just sayin. I get tired of public figures being revered or held to a different standard than the rest of the population just b/c they're a public figure.

It's sad that we live in a society where Darrent Williams, a seemingly good guy with humanitarian intentions, will be more revered, sympathized with, and respected posthumously (with a foundation named in his honor) than an actual humanitarian who selflessly spends his life both giving back to society and helping to improve the lives of others b/c one's a high school janitor while the other is a pro athlete ..... with less wealth ironically.

Topping the cake, you have this type of stuff on forums etc:
Apparently his 1.2M signing bonus and roughly 500K in paid salary is more deserving of a "kids fund" than a single mom gunned down in the crossfire of a drive-by who worked 3 jobs to keep both a roof over their heads & food on the table while also making time for PTA meetings and fund raisers for the boy's basketball team.

Can't take the Pro Bowl serious, just watch the defense, they are going half to no speed.

In the 1st quarter Big Ben could have been hit by Allen twice and he stopped.

yeah well, Dalton is a guy who's initially difficult to stomach drafting at either #15 or trading up your 3rd rounder for the fee of a 2012 1st b/c we didn't have a 2nd rounder to work with.
There was no way we were taking him unless we were able to trade back into the late 20's/30's.

Is that why he's the first ever to score 4 TD's? Cam Newton sure seems to struggle in touch football.

Gotta give Marshall credit, it shows with the PB rules and Brandon one on one he is the beast. He did beat a long standing record, um 1st in history of a PB lol . Marshall one on one is legit, like the Philbin created mismatches in Green Bay look forward to seeing what he and Sherman can do with him.

Especially when scrub QB's put the ball in his hands in the EZ and he drops them...I guess he would have caught them If a real QB had thrown them...what ever

and at least 3 of those catches required extra effort to make, why not the effort during the regular season when it counts? Don't get me wrong I believe in BM's abilities I question his effort and when he chooses to use it. In his words it's the QB that makes the difference, not by what I saw in those catches..that was effort.

Mike Mayock said it best during the game, it went something like this "Brandon Marshall can be as great as HE wants to be" (added emphasis by me). That was a great performance but he has to be self motivated. When he is he becomes elite, when he doesn't he is above average.

that's right. B Marshall put no effort into the games this past season. yes, he lost his concentration in the end zone a few times, and I hold that against him. but he also made some pretty spectacular plays that were no different from what we saw in the probowl yesterday. To say he didn't make the effort during the regular season is just plain silly.

so he lost his concentration in the EZ during the regular season and to say he did not give his full effort is just plain silly... In the EZ no less, the one place his position makes their bones in. But if we had an elite QB he wouldn't have lost that concentration

Also, I never said he gave no effort, I said he didn't put the same effort in the regular season as he did in a meaningless exhibition game.

You keep harping on "meaningless game".....we started the year 0-7. The last 9 games were "meaningless" yet he didnt have the numbers he had last night, yet he had Matt Moore throwing him the ball. Whats the comon denominator? Marshall is the same, game situation is the same.....the quarterback? Different.

    There ya go.

You're trying to connect two things that aren't necessarily connected.

He gave full effort in those games, he just made mistakes by letting his concentration slip in the endzone

IMO, B Marshall is stating that the elite QBs put him in a better position to succeed - translation...better setup to catch those TDs.
Most relevant example: Henne is by far the worst starting QB I've ever seen at throwing a proper fade in the endzone to our big WR. Moore is better, but by no means outstanding.
A really good QB puts the ball just where B Marshall can get it over the smaller DBs, then Marshall's part is the timing of the jump and the concentration portion of the equation.

I realize you're probably putting these 2 things together to counter someone else who is making that argument, but 2 wrongs don't make a right.

    no.

this is about effort and the fact he turns it on and off according to what he perceives as the situation. That lack of concentration in the end zone, how many were right on the numbers, right in his hands. He flat out stated in his interview last night that he kicked it up a notch because of the players he was playing with. He has also stated that he is looking for an elite QB. IIRC he stated last night that he had nothing to do with the catches it was all the QB but it seems to me that at least 3 td's he had to go above and beyond to catch. He chooses when to give his best effort and he is blaming his lack of production, drops and all on the fact that we have no elite QB. I contend that if he consistently gave the effort he gave last night that he would have the stats he so desires and we may have a better record too. Effort is infectious, if he worked as hard as Bush did how much better would this team be?

Can we call this what it was? Marshall is a beast. He's also a show boating glory hound diva who wants the world to know how great he is. Not necessarily his team mind you, just him.

In other words, he's made for the pro bowl. No defense, he gets a great qb throwing to him, and he gets the ball thrown to him even in situations where it shouldn't have.

Marshall can be the best wr in the league if he really focused ala Calvin Johnson, but thats not who he is. (he also doesn't have stafford). But, IMO, this is also the reason that if we can manage to get into the playoffs, and put Marshall in a spot where the whole world is watching, we'll see this kind of Marshall in full force. I'm just not sure we'll ever get to see it in the regular season.

The game situation was NOT the same. There was zero effort on the D during the game. Let's be real here. Congrats to BM for the MVP. I hope it brings in better players, but if you actually watched the game, you can plainly see the game situation was not even close.

Enough Matt Moore...Dolphins didn't even win a Super Bowl with Dan Marino, we won't even get to one with Matt Moore, probably not the playoffs either...barring some sort of miracle that turns Moore into the next big thing.

We won 6 games against bad teams. And looking at those 6 wins, the one against the only semi-good team we kicked 4 Field Goals against the Jets in the last game, one a miraculous and rare 58 yarder when the Jets were in self destruction mode. Against the Cowboys we kicked 4 FGs between 20-28 yards. Sick of having to kick Field Goals all the time. That's why we can't beat good teams and lose some close games to bad/mediocre ones. He's a good backup.

Anyone with eyes knows the Dolphins have needed a QB over 12 years, and still do. Someone who can turn one or two of those close field goals into Touchdowns with pinpoint passes into or close to the endzone on a consistent basis.
