Here's some info on Kevin Coyle: - He has 35 years of coaching experience - He was the DC at Holy Cross, during that time they were the winningest I-AA team in the country. - He was DC at Syracuse, and one year, they lead the nation in interceptions and set a school record for fewest rushing yards allowed - He was cornerback's coach then DB coach for Cincinnati, during his tenure the Bengals were 5th in interceptions. - If Zimmer had left the Bengals, it is believed Coyle would have gotten the DC vacancy. If anyone finds more please post. Thank you.
Well, like it says, he coached the secondary of the Bengals. He apparently did a really good job considering they were consistently good with no names like Pacman and Dolphin reject Chris Crocker.
I am excited about this season. I just hope we don't retread the organization. Maybe he is a Diamond in the ruff. I was happy with Nolan. He definately had an impact on our Defense this year. Not right away but it was noticeable. I am glad Fisher didn't come here. Man I wouldn't have been able to take it.
Well, happy with Nolan or not, he was not going to stay here. He was dissed by not being considered for the HC job here and had chosen to move on. We knew we were getting a new DC, even with Fisher...
Yea, its too bad. I wonder if there was some internal info we don't have on why he wasn't even considered. Ross and Company could have at least given the man some respect and an interview. Hell the lunch or Dinner would have been a tax write off
yeah I would like to know his philosophy. Aggressive? Conservative? A lot of movement at the line? I'm excited to see.
Because he's not that good? His time in San Francisco as head coach proved that. His defenses historically regress after his first year with a team. They did so everywhere he has been DC or HC including in Miami this past season. I can't confirm that it's entirely true, but I have heard rumors that after week 7 Bowles took over a much greater portion of the defensive side than he had previously. It was at this time that our defense really began to turn it around. Those first 7 games compared to the last 9 games are like day and night. I loved the acquisition of Nolan and was excited to get him. However, after witnessing his defense play out over the past 2 years it has become clear to me that he's more hype than substance.
I've heard Philban wants to be aggressive in all phases of the game so I would suspect that he would want a DC that matches his philosophy.
I wasn't excited to get him. In fact I considered him a retread and was disappointed. I assumed the lack of progress the first 7 games was do to off season lag and installation of a new system. Was not aware of the Boles thing. I thought he was a d backs coach. The point I was trying to demonstrate about the interview was that you would think Ross and Ireland would be all the more sensitive to things like this since it is no secret that they don't treat their people with respect( ala Harbaugh incident). Don't get me wrong I would have loved me some Harbaugh, just was not handled properly. Does Ross get a pass, maybe he is new to this. But Damn the same stuff over and over makes one wonder!
Kevin Coyle has been/is a winner everywhere and in whatever position he has been given, just the facts! http://www.bengals.com/team/coaches/Coyle_Kevin/712bff9d-db2d-49e5-abba-55ecfcadd6e6
Here is some more info on the coordinators...mainly on Coyle.... http://thefinsiders.com/podcasts/2012/the-dolphins-new-coordinators-mike-sherman-kevin-coyle
I'm happy with this hire, at the end of the day Philbin needs coordinators who match his philosophy and who he can work with.
