Buccaneers Offense - TM - Buccaneers ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Greg Schiano from Rutgers will be the Buccaneers' next head coach once a contract is finalized. Jan 26 - 10:23 AM Per rotoworld and Schefter Guess this means Mike Sherman to Miami since he's interviewing there today for Oc
Do you all think this is a good hire? Lots of risks with this hire, but I don't know enough about Rutgers except for the bowl game they beat my Pack in a few years ago.
It's different but rutgers has taken a dip since the days of rice and Brian leonard. it also makes Sherman a virtual shoe in for our OC spot imo
You have never seen Rutgers play than, they play to what they have, with Ray Rice they ran, two years ago it was the wildcat, this year they threw the ball a ton. he plays to what he has.
He had a stacked team coming back this year and a top 15 recruiting class. They were not to be this good this year. Its a blow to Rutgers.
10 days before signing day. Sucks for Rutgers. Lots of folks here in Tampa think it's a great hire. He's a good coach. But to me, he's still a college coach making the big jump. Schiano will be the 9th college coach hired into the NFL since 2000. Here's how they stack up. Only Jim Harbaugh has a record above .500. And Carroll had been an NFL head coach twice in the '90s. http://www.tampabay.com/sports/football/bucs/how-college-coaches-fare-as-nfl-coaches/1212438
Actually there's a lot of commonality between several of them. Fact is, it's difficult to make the jump. Proof is right there in the puddin.
He was on the Bears staff before that. If he's from anybody's coaching tree though it would probably be Paterno as that's where he got his start.
As for the Bucs, I don't like the hire much at all to be honest. But I do know it could spell great things for the Dolphins (Sherman at OC would be a terrific hire), and the Canes (Darius Hamilton and Leonte Carroo visiting Miami this weekend, were Rutgers leans), so, great hire from my perspective...
