I think everybody need to step away from their keyboards so they dont get carpal tunnel and so people stop getting their feeling hurt
That's such failed logic. If everyone approached the situation with that mentality there would never be any new coaches. If you want to have an issue with Philbin then by all means have an issue with him, but be logical about it. Also, quoted my friend Mr. Clean from earlier in the thread just to debunk your whole no first time head coach can succeed in the NFL theory even though I'm sure you'll stick to it in the face of empirical evidence to the contrary because, let's face it, you've got nothing.
Fine, dude. What do you wanna bet? What do you wanna insist upon giving me? What are the params? How about... who has more wins, Jeff Fisher as head coach of the Rams, or Joe Philbin as head coach of the Dolphins over the next 4 seasons? How about one dollar? I'll go ahead and pre-donate the dollar I will win to Urban Dictionary (dot com), in honor of the 'He-man Knuckle-Draggers Club,' who seem to insist it is better to insult someone rather than counter with actual reason. See you in 4 years.
Ithink people need to chill. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. And no matter how it is said, it is opinion so take it that way. I am not lecturing anyone, just stating from experience you cannttry to infer intent or tone from posts unless it is obvious, just take teh post and debate teh point w/o making it personal, it is much nicer being here when you arent fighting with someone. there are reasons to like or not like any move IMO. I didnt like hire initially but the more I read and hear fom him I like it. I also applaud teh approach, they could have overpaid to9 get fisher and subserved their beliefs to cave to him, they didnt. They foun a guy that wants it and will work hard to do a good job. perception is we were taken. Reality is that while Fisher may have played us may not have. Philbin is teh guy, and he will succeed or fail on his own, so lets just watch it play out
Nah, see, you wanted to bet that Jeff Fisher wins more than 8 games this year. So that's the bet. And lets make it interesting. If the Rams wins 9 or more games I will make a thread publicly stating you were right and will then immediately leave the forums permanently. If the Rams win 8 or fewer games you have to make a thread publicly stating you were wrong and then immediately leave the forums permanently.
ahh thats what your wife said.... ba boom. thank you ladies and gentlemen. I'll be here all night. please tip your waitresses and moderators j/k see thats how you do don rickles
Oh. My. God. MrClean posted some names? You mean, a first-time head coach has won a Superbowl before? I stand corrected! Yes, those are all fine, fine examples of successful head coaches! There is no doubt that Philbin will match the storied careers of Garret, Munchak, and Lovie Smith! LMAO!! All kidding aside... no offense to MrClean. I never said Philbin is an automatic failure as an NFL head coach because he's never been a head coach on any level. I'm merely saying his chances aren't good. Ironically, most of the names on that list back me up. I just missed commenting on Clean's post, cause I had to retort so many other posts from the 'na-na-na-boo-boo, stick your head in doo-doo' crowd.
When exactly did I say that? Dude... grow up. Seriously. If you wanna come here and post, I don't care how many games the Rams win. I'll come here and post whenever I want. Otherwise, go make silly bets with someone else. I laid my point out there. If you're right, you got bragging rights, ok? Get a tattoo to commemorate your glorious victory.
Thats why it is hilarious. If this thread is not locked for you guys being to mean to each other by the time i get home I will be very displeased
Your "wanna bet" post was in reply to someone saying the Rams would be 8-8 this season. You don't even know what you're posting any more. And besides, I knew you would be too scared to take the bet. Oh well.
Eh, this is nothing. It's a huge moment/hire for the franchise. We're all charged up football wise. Refs gotta let us play.
No, Trowa, that's not what I said, that's just you trying to leverage a loaded bet that you think you can win. It may take Fisher longer than one season to turn the 2-14 Rams around. It might not. However, I'm convinced it will happen eventually. He's a great head coach. Anyway, if the Rams do go 9-7 next year or better, no worries. I don't want you to lose your outlet for insulting others semi-anonymously.
Yeah, but this conversation is turning into the Special Olympics. Even if you win, you're still ******ed. No offense, Trowa. EDIT: I know, I know... I could not help it. Please forgive me, forum Gods.
I was originally indifferent with the decision, but like everything else, my optimism spills over. With everything I've read and watched, he seems like a good fit. I wasn't happy about Ginn/Beck either but after reading many of the posts here I was excited about it. It should be an exciting offseason. But, to answer the question, I like the hire because I'm a fan and always filled with optimism.
I know nothing really of how he has been as a coach, but based solely on his PC, I'm pretty excited for him to come aboard. He has spent the last few years in a winning program with an amazing qb and a very potent offense, he knows what to look for. I loved his poise and the way he was responding to the questions. The way he responded to the question about his son I felt was very telling. He seems like a no nonsense type of a guy that will absolutely not settle for anything less than everybody's utmost best every single game. His presence reminds me a little of Jim Harbaugh, no nonsense and has a passion and desire to win. He never said "we'll see what happens in the next few years", he wants to begin building a winner and I for one am very very excited for this journey to begin.
I hear you. I think most fans feel exactly as you do. Most of the time, I feel exactly the same way. Just not this time.
If you're not confident enough in your opinion to put your money where your mouth is then I will feel confident disregarding your opinion going forward. Good day sir.
