We do not know who will be the next HC of the Dolphins, but we do know:

-RT Colombo was rated as a -26
-Reggie Bush had a +2 ranking
    -Hartline, Bess,Thomas, Gates accounted for 5 Td's
-Oline was alone for #2 in the NFL for most sacks allowed
-Jake Long is having health issues, that is something rarely talked about, Big Jake looks like he is wearing down.
-Daniel Thomas was the lowest ranked Rb of guys who had 165 carries, 25th out of 25.
    -#2 Passrusher, JT, retired

We need some upgrades, and for guys to step up their game and get healthy, or it won't matter who is hired.

I agree. We have a lot of holes to fill.
Which is exactly why I DO NOT want to trade up for Robert Griffin.

Not sure about a lot of holes, but there are questions, and keep in mind Carey is not up there simply due to the fact PFF is a pay site, he was not good in 2011.

Agree 110% on the not trading up for RG3, unless Ireland can see through the either and find some gems, we have some needs, with Sparono gone competition is once again the reality, as it should have been all along, but still, planning on 6th rd picks to be starters is a long shot indeed.

How about what he has to work with, stay positive.

Pouncey, arguably the 2nd best center in the conference behind his brother
Reggie Bush, a top 10-12 back in the league last season
    Marshall, 1000+ yard receiver
Sparano - good all around TE, and improving as a receiver
Hartline - a good #3 WR (fill that hole for #2 Ireland!)

so we do have some holes, but not at all the #1s:
    - need #2 WR, need #2 RB - pushing Hartline and Thomas to teh #3 slots
    - need a nice shiny new guard to come in and play left guard, keep J Jerry at RT (just cut Columbo and Carey)
    - get Matt FLynn, worst case we have 2 starting QBs, above average w/potential for more

I do worry that Moore may not be able to adjust to Green Bays' style of offense, so getting Flynn is good insurance. and if we're lucky, Flynn wins the starting job and MOore then becomes very valuable depth

Lol even if we fire sparano apparently we can't rid ourselves of him. At least he's improving as a receiver if not as a coach.

Pouncey did well for a rookie but the best AFC Centers are Nick Mangold and Chris Myers, with honorable mention to Nick Hardwick.

Don't need to cut Carey and Colombo. Both are UFAs, just don't resign them.

What he has to work with:
Brandon Marshall - leads the league in dropped passes.
Davone Bess - not living up to the hype "best slot receiver", cant even hold Welkers jock strap.
Brian Hartline - actually picked it up the last couple of games with some nice catches, but still was on the tops of the worst receivers when it came to dropped passes

Reggie Bush - career year for him but hes still injury prone
Daniel Thomas - showed something the 1st two games (or just the one against the Texans), and fell off from there so there goes your rbs

    and the o-line is horrible.

Matt Moore isn't the answer, just another stop gap that wont take us anywhere.

And this is our Miami Dolphins folks.

Oh and Kendall Langford and Paul Soliai are FA

Don't worry, it was all Sparano, and Parcells fault and Ireland is finally going to get to show how great he has been as the GM of the Dolphins once the new coach takes over. Because according to all the Ireland apologists, he has done a great job in the college draft and in free agency and is not responsible at all for all the holes on this team after his four years as the teams GM.

Reggie Bush could win the Superbowl on his own, we have a really exciting positive new coach. We can get to a Superbowl with Moore, he is just as good as Smith at San Fran. BE POSITIVE!

I am neither positive or negative on the hiring of Philbin. He certainly wasn't my first choice for the job once Sparano was fired. In fact he wasn't even in my top five choices. That being stated, I am certainly willing to take a wait and see approach in regards to his abilities as an NFL head coach.

I will not purchase season tickets next year, but I will wait to see how effective he is in turning this organization around. I wish him the best and I certainly hope that I am entirely wrong about the capabilities of Ireland as a GM in the NFL and Ross as an NFL owner. I hope they got this hiring right and that Philbin is the right coach to come in and correct all the errors the Dolphins have made over the last decade.

My feeling is that Ireland and Ross have made their decision on the new head coach. They have had four years now to get this team headed in the right direction. So my expectations are that the Dolphins next year will have to be a playoff team, not only making the playoffs but also winning in the first round of the playoffs. With the schedule as soft as it appears going into next season. Anything less then a playoff berth, and at least one victory in the playoffs, must be seen as a failure by the Dolphins organization next season.

If we take an OT with our first pick that might be an indicator that there is trouble on the horizon with Jake Long. The combination of worries regarding his health and the hole at RT may well make Riley Reiff the pick. Having another tackle with true LT potential makes a lot of sense.

Conversely if they are confident in Jake, then as others have suggested RT might be filled with an internal candidate or lower round pick.

Your best move is not to bother watching any games next year. You're like that Lilliputian in Gullivers Travels, "We're doomed, we're all doomed".

Your best move is to take off the green Dolphin homer glasses and realize everything I said was the truth. I have faith in Joe Philbin to fix our issues though.

Well, JJerry showed well at LT to finish the yr, granted he did not face a premioum passrusher, but he did not embarrass himself either.

I bring that up because some of the all time great OL's have moved positions in their career and still played at a high level, I'm thinking of Bruce Matthews in Houston, and Im not advocating they move Big Jake, am saying I could see a situation where it made sense to move him.

Larger point though, Philbin will probably shake that unit up as Job #1, and GB's center is a FA this offseason, Wells iirc, a new C changes everything on the OL.
