Song I always liked, tribute to Kurt Cobain.
Funny thing is, David Byrne is adamantly hateful about anything having to do with the Talking Heads.
I've always thought it a shame that hip hop/urban is such a "right now who is hot" genre of music, some old school stuff is still bumping
From the UK? The copyright stuff really kind of handicapped DJ's recordings imo, stuff that used to be the norm just cannot be made now. Old schoolish: Dam shame cannot find any Slick Rick.

Funny thing to me is, I recall cats like this as music guys, but now they are actors?
I liked "I'm the type of guy". Kind of funny looking back on the stuff from the late 80's, lots of dance numbers, when Grunge hit and Hardcore hit, this sort of stuff just died in .003th of a second.
Body Count's drummer died and the project just sort of fell apart. "Yo E, give me some of that damn fried chicken" I recall this when it was first released FreeStyle, this is sort of "Body Count" to me, crazy how big they got in Europe on metal tours. To me, O.G. from IceT just does not get enough play, that album has pretty much the range of good music on it, from hardcore to metal even a movie soundtrack (from New Jack Hustler). Oddly enough normally I'll play that or Phll Collins...
Well, sort of an interesting thought KillahP, does music shape a culture, or is music simply an outgrowth of that culture? I tend to think it is both, for example the old school stuff like Sugar Hill, or say NWA/Ice T ( and no doubt people I'm not mentioning) were reflections of what was happening, but then it spread and you have musicians who are more or less playing the role, "gangsta" guys from the suburbs. Kanye West, for example, is as street as a maybach, Sean Combs on the other hand, was taking his college student loan checks and flipping it over on t-shirts at concerts. What's really crazy is how things come full circle, the street becomes the new wave, then becomes the establishment, then is overturned by the "old" stuff becoming new again and the new becoming "old". The first sort of rap/metal fusion I can recall is Primus and PE on "I'm the man".
