But this of course is being denied:

Would certainly be a big splash-Ross like hire. Have been a pretty big Oregon fans for years, and really love what Chip does in the college game. The only issue is that he would likely have to completely change his scheme for the NFL.
This would be by no means a Harbaugh like hire who had experience playing, and ran a Pro Style system at Stanford.

This would big a big time Boom/Bust.

I have no doubt that whoever Armando's source is within the Fins denied the report. I also doubt the denial is true, or it's half true.

I mean, Carl Petersen doesn't technically work for the Dolphins, yet he has been meeting with the "big time" coaches, of which Chip Kelly would be a part of.

Also, unlike the coordinators/retreads, the Dolphins have to protect Kelly and Kelly has to protect himself. If he doesn't take the job, but is linked, it gets used against him in recruiting.

It's the same reason Sark came out and trumpeted the fact that he had rebuffed the Rams when they wanted to interview him. If we hear nothing from Kelly in the next few hours, I bet this is true

I hope Kelly stays at Oregon for a long time. I'd love for them to win a national title and Chip is the best hope for that.

No matter how this turns out, Kelly, Zimmer, Mularkey, Toub, Bowles, Fisher...you gotta like the way they are attacking this HC search....no stones unturned...I like all these candidates.... The longer the Fisher thing mulls around, the more I think he's leaning our way, but I'd take any of those guys and be happy going into next year...I especially like Kelly and Zimmer...

Chip Kelly is the NCAA getting off its *** and doing their job away from being nuked. It would be an inspired hire, but are there enough horses to run his O? Also, Holgorsen is a walking trainwreck....can't believe WVU didn't do their due diligence on that guy...

While it's an interesting choice, I'm not convinced his offense will translate very well to the NFL.

I dont think Chip Kelly is naive enough to believe it will translate exactly......but...from what I hear....he is certainly good enough to come up with a version of his offense that will ......

If by fine you mean raging alcoholic, then yes Holgersen is just fine....he may be an offensive genius, but I just see him crashing and burning in a glorious Jack Daniel's induced ball of fire

I would like this but it seems like he would want to stay at Oregon.

The team would certainly be interesting to watch...you can bet he would try to turn them into the next Saints/Packers/Patriots from the start. But Fisher's been around and should know you need offense with firepower to go with a solid defense.

Is this the coach of the Oregon Ducks high scoring team that Coach Spo was inspired by?

If so, woo! I would love to see a high scoring offense every Sunday.

I have absolutely no desire to see another college coach hired for the Dolphins head coaching position. The best head coach in all of college football is, Nick Saban, and we all know how that turned out when he tried it at the professional level.

Chip Kelley is an excellent college head coach and that is exactly where he should stay. He makes plenty of money at Oregon and he seems to be an excellent recruiter. He doesn't need the NFL and the NFL certainly doesn't need him.

    Kelly presents an interesting proposition.

Implement his spacing and pace concepts into Daboll's offensive scheme and you might have something on the edge.

Why would Armando say "Chip Kelly would have to change his offense for the NFL?" You mean the Miami Dolphins would hate to score more than 16 points per game, so we would say HELLLLLLLL NOOOOOO to something that actually worked on offense? Too funny.

There's a key difference between guys like Spurrier and Saban failing in the NFL and a guy like Chip Kelley. And that difference is ego. Spurrier never got along with his owner, his gm or his qb. Saban's pissed off all the time imperialistic you have to be perfect or your don't play attitude doesn't translate when you're coaching men who are making more money than you are. They both still thought they were in college where the players HAVE to respect you because you're the coach. They felt as though the NFL and the players they coached owed them something because of who they were in a different league. And that's now how it works and when you approach it with that perspective you're not going to last. Oregon is my dad's school, so I follow them closely, and Chip Kelley doesn't strike me as that kind of guy. So many NFL coaches rave about the guy. It's not coincidence that Gruden and Dungy (2 super bowl winning coaches) rave about his ability. He will be a great hire if we make it.

I think the biggest reason Nick Saban left the NFL is because his ego wouldn't allow him to lose. He had never lost in college. His first season with Miami he rallies to 9-7 and buys his own hype. The next season he makes the worst QB decision of the century, realizes what he's done and that his team was set back at least a couple of seasons, and ran with his tail between his legs back to his comfort zone where he can be a god again who never has a losing season.

Saban lost in college.....especially when he was at MSU....his best season was his last in '99 when they went 9-2 and got a Citrus Bowl invite. I remember when Nebraska piss pounded that *** like 50-10 and 55-14 in '95-'96....he only got better as a coach when the talent got better like at LSU
