per Adam Schefter: https://twitter.com/#!/AdamSchefter/status/156807583573884928 It doesn't say anything about Fisher going to the Raiders and Fisher has said he has narrowed down his choices to the Rams and the Fins but the unexpected firing of Hue Jackson could make the Raiders a candidate to get Jeff Fisher. I know it may be unlikely but this also doesn't help us with other coaching candidates, with Mcfadden at RB and Carson Palmer and a returning Jason Campbell at QB the Raiders look like A team A future head coach would want to go to. Honestly, I wouldn't mind the Raiders swiping Fisher from us as I would rather have someone like Philbin or Mike Zimmer(or even keep Bowles) but like I said before the Raiders might now have an edge with other coaches.
That's a surprise, and one of the reasons that team is never going to succeed. Jackson would have moonwalked into the playoffs if it weren't for most of their receivers, their star RB, and their starting QB getting injured. I didn't like when they fired Cable because he actually squeezed something out of Jawalrus, and he clearly changed the mindset of that team into workers. This is even more egregious IMO.
Who's the last big name coach to go to the Raiders? There's a reason for that. I'm glad the Davis family is running the team the way he would've wanted them to. That's nice.
Actually, the Raiders are finally starting to operate like a normal, NFL team. They hired a strong GM, and allowed him to make a decision on the HC. Hue didn't help himself with either his Alexander "I'm in charge here!" Haig routine or his ridiculous comments about wanting even more control. Now, Mackenzie can hire a coach and staff who he is on the same page with, and begin to build the Raiders in a normal way.
Mackenzie is gonna fish for Packers coaches, if anything this means we have competition for guys like Philbin, Moss and Clements.
Exactly. This is why the firing is kind of pissing me off, this just weakens our chance to get a better coach like Philbin or Zimmer or maybe even Fisher. I understand it's the Raiders, but they have definitely turned it around since the Jamarcus Russel days.
Very low odds of Fisher getting in bed with that situation. I guess it's hard in today's 60x60x24x7 news cycle to just take a man at face value but he's got what he feels is a tough choice between the Dolphins and Rams, he's told media that he will be choosing between those two, and he is indeed trying to make that choice. I don't think it's that big of a deal. I think he's probably got concerns about both teams, some of them may have been outed a little by the media...and so he's looking to follow up with the teams involved and address those concerns before he makes his choice. I just happen to wonder if one of those concerns, that Stan Kroenke might move the Rams to Los Angeles...hasn't turned the Rams off to him a little bit and seen them going ahead into conslation prize mode.
McKenzie is cleaning house in Oakland. Literally has people in the offices freaking the hell out that they are going to be fired. Who knows, I may not have a source there when it is all said and done. But what I can tell you is that Winston Moss is HIGH on the list.
The media hasn't covered the Oakland transition as much as I would like. Al was the crazed dictator for sooooo long. More fans hopefully will stress the need to switch to the Packer collective shareholding model.
