Honestly? I think in the "modern" NFL a Coach with a resume wants to also install their own GM, or handle things themselves, Ross wants to keep Ireland on the job, so that does not go over well.

Sort of like ho Cowher worked with a GM until he got big enough to force him out

My bad on the ESPN Miami thing.

But ESPN STL is just a local sportstalk like WQAM.The fact they buy some ESPN programming doesn't mean their hosts are credible....

The same NYJ team that got beat by our "lowly" Miami Dolphins with any hope for the playoffs in the line. Losers.

Cowher didnt force out Tom Donahue in Pitt because "he got big enough". He did it because Donahue thought Cowher should be able to win with, lol, wait for it....Tommy Maddox, Neil O'Donnell, and Kordell Stewart. Funny how all 3 of those guys were good in Pittsburgh and terrible everywhere else.

Interestingly enough GB QB coach Tom Clements was also Bill Cowhers QB coach from 01-04. Hmmm I wonder if Cowher isnt just biding his time to hire Clements as his OC.

I think alot of you are blowing this out of context. While i undertand that we are tired of losing, the article is just someones opinion and as someone mention is noy based on facts. As a side note GBs oc does nothing for me and i hope we would go in a different direction.

If it's true, once again the Dolphins can't get what they want. Nobody wants to come to this mediocre mess.

Remember when the Dolphins weren't a punchline?

Who ever wrote the article has a 50 50 chance of being right. SO WHAT. He doesnt KNOW..........ANYTHING. He is guessing what Fisher will do.
For those who think any coach should take the Miami job because it IS the MIAMI job...........RIiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. A HC candidate should NOT worry about his future.......which team provides the best chance at LONG TERM SUCCESS, whether real or imagined.....which team offers the most comfortable situation for HIS family.........etc.
MIAMI is nothing special anymore, people. We are just another team.........to THEM.\
I think Fisher will decide to come here. So .............its MY guess......against HIS. If I am wrong...............so what. If HE is wrong............so what.

Ya know what, **** Jeff Fisher. People can say all they want its because of the QB situation... meh, whatever, What's Bradford really done? Sure theres not much talent there, but really Jeff Fisher... you'd rather have a QB to work with that may be ok, with almost zero talent, rather than a roster full of pretty good talent. What it comes down to in my eyes, he wants the easy division. Which if thats the case, screw him. He's not our guy.

That bit of speculation on my part being said... if... if we loose a coach... and I dont care if its Fisher, Billick, Philbin, Toub, or the homeless guy down the street because Stephen Ross is content with Jeff Ireland and does not want to make a change... then we're doomed.. and the franchise deserves it. If Ross, finds a HC that he wants, whoever that may be, and looses that individual because of the unwillingness to part with Jeff Ireland... then he deserves more mediocrity from his team. Unfortunately its us... as the fans that suffer for his stubbornness and stupidity.

This post is no indictment on Fisher... Ireland... or any other coach we've interviewed. Its just the fact of the matter. If Ross, and this team loose out on a coach they want (regardless of who it is), simply because Ireland is there, and Ross won't get rid of him... then his team deserves the **** storm that will follow. That's all on Ross. Like I said, unfortunately we suffer as fans as a result.

If this report is indeed true, then look out for another *** kicking in the media for the phins. We're going to get laughed at even more now. Unreal.

Exactly, I thought Bradford was a up and coming Qb, I looked at his numbers and he really is, kinda crappy.

I like Ireland, and think the roster is much better then it was even 2 yrs ago, but also think he needs his Waterloo, so far he has hidden behind Jerry Jones and Parcells skirt, and to an extent Sparano, this yr is his, if we stink then he goes, no questions asked.

You know for me, when I see guys like Fireman Ed, or even Wagon Circler, they don't hesitate to be fans, why are dolfans so wrapped up in what the media thinks and says?

Screw them, let's put an eye patch on the dolphins logo, hire some fire brand coach, and flip off the rest of the NFL they don't like it?

Also, is it just me or does his face not look exactly parallel? If you cover the left side of his face and look at the right how you would project the left side of his face doesn't match up with his actual left side. Vice versa too. That is a sign of a psychopath btw.

Maybe I'm cynical but I can't believe people are foaming at the mouth over losing (potentially) Jeff Fisher. An ultra conservative pound and ground coach who would require a complete overhaul of the defensive scheme. Frankly, I can't think of a worse fit for the job than Jeff Fisher.

Go interview Carmichael and Chud, give Chip Kelly a call. We need a leader not the hottest name on the market.

like i said we need someone who wants to be here, not someone who comes interviews here then goes somewhere else and has to "mull" over the decision. it should be do you want to be a dolphin or not if you dont know you are wasting my ****ing time.

I agree and i had a bad feeling that the were becoming a team located in a third world country which many people around the nfl seem to be thinking which i am not ready to say but the image of the miami dolphins is so bad that espn tries to mention other teams needs and other teams about being better places to coach.

Why in hell cant mr Ross just fire the idiot Ireland and make a ballsy move and call Cohwer.

Too much. If Jeff Fisher was the answer, could someone please explain to me what the heck the question was?

Just because the media believes Fisher is Ross' prime target doesn't make it so. Of course he interviewed him, who wouldn't.

The Twitter world of instant speculation with no verifiable substance is taking over actual journalism and every Tom, Dick and Harry is walking lock step with the masses. Pretty sad really.

There are plenty of better options than Fisher for goodness sake.

Let Jeff Fisher jack up the Rams with his friggin control freak ego. We just dumped a dummy like that and people want one thats even worse ? Josh McDaniels, the OC that St. Louis jerkked off over getting just asked to have permission to speak to other teams. Whats that tell you about the place ? Bradford is not all he was hyped up to be and guess what, NE wants to talk to McDaniels and guess what again, Brandon Loyd has not tried to hide the fact wherever McDaniels goes, he is going

So NE gets McDaniels and another good WR, they suckk.

It would have to be worse than that I'd guess. Maybe Ireland eats his own boogers, or likes to pin people in a corner and cut farts.
I used to work with an old dude that ate his own boogers, but only the dry hard ones, and only if he thought nobody was looking...

It's not likely to change... but as this experience points out, anything can and does happen....

I think some perspective is in order.

Jeff Ireland is not the reason Jeff Fisher will choose St. Louis. It doesn't matter WHO our GM is. He'll choose St. Louis because they HAVE NO GM.

In short, he'll pick St. Louis because he'll have more power there. And they've got a QB (sort of).

Personally, I don't want a coach to dominate the GM. It doesn't work in today's NFL.

And it's just like I said on the homepage. Condescending media types will take every opportunity to further slam the team in their typical, small-minded ways. Doesn't matter if the Dolphins did everything right. They're going to paint it as a bumbling clown car. **** them.

As for Bill Cowher, get over it. It ain't happening. Desperation is a dangerous thing. Learn from history. They begged Jimmy for one more year and it failed. They bought Saban and it failed. Money can't buy desire.

I'd rather have a 'nobody' who wants the job than buying a name that doesn't.

I have felt all along that the Dolphins would end up with a second tier coach because of the ,"Ireland", factor. I just don't see any quality coach wanting to come to Miami and work with Ireland. Ireland is a below average NFL GM. Ross has decided to stick with Ireland and this is going to cost the Dolphins the possibility of hiring a coach who can actually come in and turn this organization around.

Who could we get that is better? If Ireland is below average, and you think we should fire him, who would you suggest replacing him with?

Jeff Fisher is trying to milk these two organizations for everything he can get, he already knows where he wants to go, he is playing the waiting game to gain leverage and money. Until he makes his decision reports and speculation will come from every corner of the earth.
I actually want him to take the Rams job because I just don't think he is a great coach, a good NFL exec but not coach.

yeah, Fisher is making a decision for himself. I have no ill feelings towards him if he chooses the Rams. It makes a lot of sense.

    a) No Gm currently, so he'll likely have input in the selection.
    b) Bradford. For all the naysayers of Bradford, he's got more going for him than Moore does right now. If you had to choose between the two QBs, it's likely most every football person would take Bradford...right now...
    c) Even if he is strapped with Bradford (contract and salary cap wise), they still have the 3rd pick overall and have a good shot to still select the second best option at QB in this years' draft. Certainly a better chance than in Miami at #8/9.
    d) No Jeff Ireland. Whether or not he feels he can get along with Irish, whether or not he negotiate more personnel say in his contract, whether or not he feels there will not be an issue with Ireland, it'll be something he doesn't have to deal with there.
    e) Roster talent overall is the only real advantage that we have over the Rams. They don't have chopped liver, but we have a slight advantage other than at QB. With pick #3 and #33 they can go a long way towards evening that score out...
    f) He's coached in the Midwest for years, in a small market, even tho he's originally a California guy.
    g) I don't think that either Ross or Kroenke will be any deciding factor. Both are relatively new owners that tend to leave the football to the football people...despite some of Ross' antics this past 3 yrs... This is a toss up.
    h) the one thing we can offer is no state sales tax...Kroenke will likely compensate for that if that were the sticking point...

EDIT: addendum to #C...they have a good shot at trading that pick for even more picks...
