Its not about making the playoffs. Its about championships.

Exactly. I would put money on the Saints winning the SB than the Niners even though they didn't get a bye. You know why? Drew Brees. Can't say the same about Alex Smiff.

Yes, Dilfer and Brad Johnson won super bowls with 2 of the greatest defenses in our generation. And yes, both defenses won in the Superbowl as well.

How about this, you have to go all the way back to 1987 to a non elite QB winning a Superbowl without the best defense in football. Even then DW went off for 340 yards and 4 TDs in the SB.

Just put that in perspective. Since I've been alive, 25 years, Brad Johnson, Mark Rypien, Trent Dilfer, and Doug Williams are the only average QBs to win superbowls. 3 of the 4 had #1 rated defenses in the NFL.

Elite QBs win superbowls. Average QBs don't.

The first superbowl Ben Rothlisberger played calling him an average quarterback is a compliment.

Really? I think how he performed in the Superbowl clouds your judgement on him. He had a great year.
He had a 99 Qb rating in the regular season, went 9-3. He had a Qb rating of over 100 in the playoffs including the bad Superbowl game.

What do you have against quarterbacks in a passing league?

I keep hearing about this passing league. I understand the rules changes.

Now picture this. A team has three healthy running backs, each of whom averages between 4.5 and 5 yards a carry, a quarterback who passes for about 200 yards a game with a 66% completion rate, can throw the long ball, and has a 5 to 1 TD to interception rate, and a top 3 defense. How do you beat a team like that? Isn' that kind of balance what we should be striving for?

Maybe a little off subject but it does concern a QB. Living in Oklahoma, Brandon Weeden is held in high regard after last nights performance in the Fiesta bowl. Many say he would be drafted in the top of the first round if he wasn't 28 years old. The local argument is that he is still "football young" (He didn't start for OSU till 2010). What do you guys think?
