Moore is a better QB than Flynn, IMO. If possible, we should investigate a trade down somewhere to the high 20s and select Brandon Weeden.
Head coach head coach head coach, everything else is mostly meaningless imo. I'd guess we have the 11th overall pick.
Our first priority is to make a Youtube using the highlights of this game and sending every Jets player a link. True story.
I'd think sorting out exactly what's going to happen with the front office would be 1st priority, especially with rumors of Peterson and Kuharich coming to town. Then determining the head coach should be the next step.
After hiring our next coach, priority 1 should be getting better on 3rd down and getting better at goal to go situations/red zone. I don't care how it's done, so long as it is. Priority 2 should be finding how to get more takeaways on defense.
Moore has shown he is nothing more than a quality backup. Hard to fathom spending a 1st round draft pick on a 29 year old rookie QB. Much better off signing Flynn and drafting Blackmon or if trading down Broyles given his ACL injury. We get a better QB and a true #1 WR.
Head Coach....then see what the Colts do with Peyton Manning. I don't care if he got hurt, if he becomes available, you take the chance. Nobody should want to go into 2012 with Matt Moore and only Matt Moore. Ignoring QB and settling for less is why we have 0 playoff wins and 1 appearance in 11 years...and why we're now at the bottom of the league in attendance.
Flynn is having a hell of a game today against the Lions though. He's made alot of very impressive throws.
I would agree with this statement. Half the league is! The bottom 16 starting QBs are starting by default. Moore is one of them. His 190 yards passing a game are not going to be leading Miami to the playoffs any time soon.
Getting a legit #1 QB. Whether that means signing Peyton or trading our entire draft for the #1 overall pick. We can't stick our fingers in our ears and keep doing the same thing that has given us a great big pile of nothing for the past two decades.
Matt Flynn really??? What's up with everyone hoping on these qb's d*cks when they've played like 3 games. Did you not see what a waste of money Kolb was? I mean come on man. That's your number one priority? Jesus
Yep. Flynn's two NFL starts: 55 comp, 82 att, 67.07%, 731 yards, 8.91 ypa, 9 TD 2 int...121.54 Flynn > Moore...by A LOT!!! Just led GB to a come from behind victory throwing 2 4th quarter TD passes and put up 45 points. Something Moore would never do in a 1,000 NFL starts.
He's a UFA right? So no trade compensation. I'd give him the same thing I'd give Henne to be the #2. 2 yrs/5 mil. I'm sure someone will offer more.
Well the good news is that FA is before to the draft....we will know how the player movement and acquisition shakes out and sets up the draft.....but getting the HC in place, and finalizing the FO with GM and President of Operations will do more for Mr. Ross then worrying about players right now.
Poor argument. Do you know how many QBs drafted in EVERY single round have flopped? Does that mean we shouldn't ever draft another QB? Come on man...
I'd be ok with that, I just wonder if Flynn benefits from a great system and great WRs/TE. I don't think our offense is bad as currently constructed and God only knows what our offensive scheme will be, but I have my doubts. I hope he's not another AJ Feely or Kevin Kolb or something.
Anyone who thinks moore is better than flynn doesn't understand football. That being said, i still think the better option is drafting a QB.
If its only money whynot go after Flynn? If it doesn't work out then cut our losses and move on.with Barkley going back to school and a trade up a pipedream he makes a lot if sense. Hes clearly an upgrade over moore. Moore could never do what Flynn did today.
I would agree only when it comes to Luck and RGIII. Both of those guys will be long gone by the time Miami drafts. Too many holes on the team to trade up as so many confused fans want Miami to. Flynn is the BEST option out there for Miami to a chance on. He has already been developed. Miami could use the first couple of picks in the draft on a legit WR and TE. My fear is we draft Landry Jones. Now that would be a bad joke.
Nonsensical hyperbole. Yes, let's just ignore that he is throwing to the best WR corps in the league and an athletic young TE who is a legit receiving weapon.
Yes please. He's 11th in passer rating this season. He is also 11th in PFF's rating system. To say he is still in the bottom 16, is subjective nonsense.
Not ignoring it at all. He put up better numbers than Rogers has since Jennings has been out. Yes, no Jennings to throw to today. The same weapons would probably boost Moore's passing yards to 210 per game.
Not sure why you're ragging on Moore's ypg on the season, when it is a function of the number of passes he throws, not the types of throws he makes. His YPA is right up around the top 10 guys.
Throw in the sacks and fumbles and those numbers go way down. Then throw in the fact he couldn't have picked a softer schedule to go up against when it comes to defenses. Heck, all we have to do is look at today. Miami's defense gave Moore and Co. the ball "3 times" in NYJ territory off interceptions. Miami totaled 12 yards on 3 drives for 9 points...WTF?
No, I'm saying the money and picks that the packers are going to be looking for, especially after this game he just had, is going to be too much when I think Moore should be given a shot if we can't trade up for Luck or RGIII. And use those picks to give him some help. Don't get me wrong I know QB is our number one priority, but I don't want any of these other qb's coming out. I mean how many times have we thrown money and picks at these FA back-ups that haven't panned out. I don't think he has shown enough on tape to take such a big risk.
That Td drive today was the longest in Dolphins history, but he'll get no credit for accomplishing it.
His YPA was less than Henne's this year. I like Moore as a backup. Seems like a good guy. My point is Moore has not shown he can carry Miami to a win based on his arm. He didn't lead Miami to single come from behind win this year, but he was a part of 4 losses in which the other team did. He is just not a playoff starting caliber QB imo.
To be fair, one of those interceptions gave us like 9 seconds on the clock on the Jets 40. Another one of those interceptions, it was three straight runs leading to 4th down... thus a Carpenter field goal. You are severely overrating Matt Flynn on a very small sample size where he is placed in one of the best systems in the NFL... and you're underrating what Matt Moore has accomplished this season.
