Ireland for better coaches, is labled now " No way I work for this guy "

A HC and a GM have to work together, be on the same page so to speak and there has to be a relationship between them of trust. When Ireland went on the trip to Cali to hire or attempt to hire, Harbaugh while his supposed " buddy ' Tony Sparano was still sitting in the office as HC, ruined any chance of Jeff Ireland ever again being the GM for any team in the NFL that has a Great or even good HC. No way.

Like I said, a Gruden, Fisher or Cowher type of any coach close to their credentials is in no way shape or form coming anywhere near the Miami Dolphins as long as Ireland is the GM and thats regardless if they hire Peterson to be whatever they deem him to be.

If you were a HC what would you think of a GM that goes behind the CURRENT HC back and attempts to hire your replacement ? Its bad business and the entire NFL and most of the free world knew that the extension and money Ross threw at Tony last year was just I am sorry money and the guy was gone anyway.

Not one premium coach that has any pride would ever work under Ireland, never happen.

Like I said, expect a retread of a retread or some Co ordinator that is supposed to be up and coming or a down trodden D1 coach. Because there too, no coach from any of the larger Division 1 schools is going to work under Ireland, not happening. My distaste lies there in him. He threw this organizations credibility right out the 10th floor window when he went to interview Harbaugh and the Dolphins had not fired their HC yet.

Every credible coach just wrote us off because of Ross and Ireland. Ross tried to panhandle it off as nothing and Ireland stood there and went along with it. Ireland had to because he knew he would be fired if he did not go along with it and nobody in the NFL wants him in their front office. Believe me.

The whole Harbaugh trip is so overblown it's ridiculous.

For all the "scandal" about interviewing coaches when you haven't fired your current coach, Jim Harbaugh had no issues actually interviewing for the job, knowing that Sparano was still employed.

Moreover, Jeff Darlington reported that cowher declined an interview because he wasn't ready to return to coaching, not because Sparano was still employed.

The whole thing is ridiculous. If the money and situation is right, we will get a big name coach.

Under Matt Moore Miami is 5-7 and has lost 4 games in the 4th and OT after leading. Not a single win was a result of a comeback.

Shouldn't a QB that wins comeback player of the year at least have one win during the season in which the team comes back to win a game when trailing in the second half instead of losing 4?

    Just a thought...

Shouldn't the defense have held up to protect those leads?

just a thought, they do get paid to last I checked.

Usually the way it works is the team in lead gives up a score then the offense goes out and scores to retake the lead or extend it.

Perhaps they will start a "Mr. 1st Half" award in which Moore would be the hands down winner.

Landry Jones is at the top of my wishlist, but I don't see us selecting high enough to get him especially if we beat the Jets this week (which we will do). If we can't snag Landry Jones, then I'd be fine with trading down a couple times in the first and picking up some help with our offensive line and maybe secondary. I feel like we have a lot of pieces in place to be a great team if we can get a solid coaching staff.

QB- I'd like to upgrade, but if we have to wait a season to do so, I'm fine with it since I've always been on the Matt Moore bandwagon. I'm gonna miss Henne tho :(
RB- Probably our strongest position on offense. Let's not forget that we will get D.Thomas back and healthy next year too
WR- I think we are set here. Gates is going to improve and hopefully develop into that deep threat/playmaker we've been looking for.
TE- I like our TE position. Fasano is good and I love the versatility from Clay, but I wouldn't mind looking at grabbing a true #2 TE in the mid-late rounds
OL- We need to replace Colombo. Wouldn't mind taking an OT high in the draft this year.

    DL- Set
LB- Burnett seemed like he turned it on towards the end of the year. We need some more pass rush help, though.
CB- Vontae/SS24 are playing well. Wouldn't mind getting a little extra insurance though in the draft or free agency with Will Allen aging.
SS- Bell is good and I think Reshad Jones will eventually take his spot
FS- I'd love to somehow get a playmaker but it doesn't seem like there is much in the draft. May be some in FA though

And if you believe Cowher was NOT dissapointed in Ross for interviewing a coach before he fired his current coach I have some nice oceanfront property for sale cheap in Montana.

The whole " scandal ' as you put it was not overblown. I have been watching football a loooooong time. Let me ask you this, outside of the Ross trip for Harbaugh, when was the last time you heard about any owner, pick one, actually interviewing someone prior to him firing his current HC ? I have never heard of it.

I cannot argue the point Ross is a very successful businessman but in the Sports venue end of things, he is clueless of how things work. Maybe in real estate you can always bs or buy your way out of something embarassing but not in football. That is just what he tried to do with Sparano when the whole Harbaugh thing came out. Ireland is a backstabbing SOB.

Like I said, watch who we get. It will not be any big name or supposed Big Name coach out there. It will be a retread or someone who has never been a HC before and please, no Nolan fans here please. He has failed as a HC and is a suspect co ordinator.

    Here and there
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_Jones

There is a laundry list of owners making bonehead mistakes. No, Jones didnt fly to OK to interview Switzer, but then again he didnt have to now did he, it was just a calll to his buddy Barry.

I don't know about "great" when it seems questionable. The only thing I hope now is a Colt win over the Jags.

Gaither has started and played every snap at LT for the last 4 games for San Diego. He has allowed no sacks, no QB hits, and 2 pressures in that stretch, covering a total of 259 snaps.
Baltimore didn't cut him last week. The Bolts claimed him off waivers on Nov 30.
