Ok name someone who is not expected to go in the first round who will shock everyone and go in the first round.
Lamar Miller. Kuechly shouldn't be a surprise. He could go top 10 and could be the 1st LB off the board.
Huh? Miller going in the first round wouldn't be a shock at all. I've had him penciled in to the Packers at #32 forever. You beat me to it.
Yeah, but you're a 'Canes fan. And plus saying he'll be the last pick in the 1st isn't exactly a strong endorsement . Maybe Miller isn't any kind of real shocker, but I don't think many are talking about him right now. He's going to put on a show at the combine though. But how about another player from the "U" if you want surprising? Tommy Streeter. I don't say that with a ton of conviction, but when he runs what I think he'll run at his size he could shoot up some draft boards. Another name I'll throw out with a little less risk is Nick Foles.
It has nothing to do with being a Canes fan. He's been considered the #2 RB in the draft by A LOT of people.
Janoris Jenkins. Fmr gator can ball, was exiled to the "Bowden Facilitiy for the Rehab of Image of Fmr Div 1 all star knuckleheads" known as N Alabama, and of course dominated.
Except Oakland won't have a 1st rounder for the next 2 years due to gettting fleeced in the Palmer trade.
First round is first round, man. Miller made enough big plays that I think he'll get the nod from the Packers. He fills a need and is arguably good value at the pick. Has nothing to do with my Canes fandom, it's all about need and match. Now this would be a surprise.
If he doesn't look like a statue at the combine and pro day, and plays well in all-star games (which I could see as possible) I think he could make his way up there. Especially if Landry Jones doesn't come out.
Quarterbacks tend to rise, but I'm not sure if Nick Foles would benefit there. Tannehill's stock (and draft position) seems more likely to rise than Foles'. I could see Foles being this year's Andy Dalton, though; a team counts on him being available in the early 2nd, he's there, they snag him. But you're definitely right, Foles could sneak into the first round.
I can see Seattle taking him, they've played themselves out of the top 3 guys, Foles would make sense as a 20's pick, Dilfer likes his game. Melvin Ingram.
I'm not sure "A LOT" of people have him locked in there right now, but even still the #2 RB didn't get taken in the 1st round this past draft. I just don't think a lot of people are talking a lot about the kid right now, but when it's all said and done I think he will be a solid 1st round pick. The reason I bring up that you're a 'Canes fan is because that means you've seen quite a bit of him. Around the country I don't think many people really know much about him or how good he is. I honestly think he'll be gone by that pick after he lights up the combine. The fact that he's a RB could push him down a bit though. As far as Foles goes, I think he's a guy that can really build some momentum as we move towards the draft a la Blaine Gabbert last year. I don't think he'll go as high as Gabbert, but I think he was lost a little bit playing at Arizona but he has the skillset to impress people the more they look at him and if he has a good Senior Bowl and good workouts/meetings he could push his way into the 1st.
Terrance Ganaway RB from Baylor looked ridiculously talented at 6' 0" 240. He looked skinny and quick. I gotta see his 40 time but if he runs a 4.4 he's gonna go in the first.
