I was always skeptical, not anymore. He's our QB, lets focus on other needs in the draft. If we shore up the entire O-Line and Secondary, man this team could be way better than just "good". Does anyone else feel we should leave the QB spot alone in the draft? I know we're beating a dead horse with this stuff, but I love this. To have a QB that is PROGRESSING. And seriously, people need to get off Hartline, the guy flat out doesn't drop anything.
Agree with this. Matt Moore is already signed, so if he's legit we'll see. BUT don't forget, there is no pressure since Miami is eliminated, and he did this with Carolina. It's different when you have no pressure. Would Moore be doing this if we were in the wild card hunt, or if next weeks game was for the final spot?? We still need a QB. Maybe Moore shocks everyone in 2012, but you don't place all your chips on that. He's doing well though, he'll have a fair shot in camp and pre-season. But we need another also in the 1st round.
I believe Matt Moore will be on the team next year. I don't yet believe he's "the answer" to the quarterback question that is the Miami Dolphins.
Why, and based on what observations? Don't mean this maliciously but step outside of the emotion of the Luck suckage race and what we have been fed all year about our need to draft a QB early
I think he's been somewhat inconsistent. Even in some of his "good" performances, I feel like he's left a lot of plays on the field. And at that, who's the best defense he's played against this year? The Jets? Even with an extra week to prepare, he looked bad that game. In the midst of the hot streak, I think you'd have to say Dallas' D was the best. Moore played well enough to keep Miami in the game, but not well enough to get the win, and still left throws on the field. I wouldn't be disappointed if Matt Moore was the starter going into next year if it means Miami's taken someone like Robert Griffin III or Ryan Tannehill that needs some seasoning to be "the guy" in the near future. I think Matt Moore would be an excellent bridge, for lack of a better term, to get to that guy. However, if I'm Jeff Ireland (Stephen Ross mandates notwithstanding) and I find myself in the position to trade up with St. Louis or Minnesota in order to get Andrew Luck, I find out how to do just that and pull the trigger, no questions asked. Overall, my opinion of Moore is that he's a good enough quarterback to keep the team competitive, but I don't think he's that guy that gets you on that deep playoff run. To me, he's the opposite of Chad Pennington in 2008. He's got a better arm, but he's not the cerebral type that can truly dissect a defense. I think Andrew Luck, or a guy like Griffin III or Tannehill, in time, ends up the better option than Matt Moore. Of those three, I don't think Andrew Luck needs time. If the Dolphins do end up with him, I think he's the starter the moment he sets foot on the field.
I certainly like Moore as the Dolphins QB a lot more than I ever liked Henne. Of course I am also cognizant of the fact that the Patriots have the worst pass defense in the entire NFL. I think that while Moore played a good first half, it was the play of the defense in the first half that was the most impressive part of the game. I think that Moore is an excellent passer when throwing the deep pass but he needs to be more accurate on his shorter throws. If he ever starts completing more mid range passes, perhaps he can get his completion percentage into the sixty to sixty five percent range. I will wait to see how Moore plays in the second half today and against the Jets next week before I make a decision regarding me jumping on the Matt Moore bandwagon.
I'm a believer, that's for sure. Will Matt Moore be a John Elway, a Dan Marino, an Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees? Probably not, but with the right pieces in place, can Matt Moore be a Joe Montana, Bob Griese, Roger Stauback or Terry Bradshaw? You bet'cha!! With how our defense has been playing today, they've been setting Moore up for success. Reggie Bush taking pressure off of Moore and Moore making big strikes when they've become available. I know alot of you are all hung up on high flying passing quarterbacks and for some teams that works, but when your team is built around one man, you risk becoming the Indianpolis Colts. And if you look at the statistics over the last 10 years...in this day and age of "elite quarterbacks"...who has won the Super Bowl? The team with the better defense. I say build on what we have. Strengthen our defense, strengthen our running game, strengthen our receiving corps and we're going to be unstoppable. Matt Moore is about to go 7-2 on the season for our last 9 games. If that's not "elite", I don't know what is
In the last 10 years, 9 of those Super Bowls have been won by Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger (2), Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, and Tom Brady (3). Brad Johnson won the other. Of that grouping, I only see one, maybe two, names that aren't "elite". Brad Johnson and Eli Manning, though I think you can make a case that the present-day Eli Manning IS elite. It's the era of the quarterback, and Matt Moore is not of that ilk. Sorry, he's just not.
I'm a semi-believer, but I'm still drafting a QB in the first round. Moore can hold the fort down until he's ready.
Really? he's our QB... Have you seen the second half? The guys is just like Henne... inconsistent. Matt Moore is a backup, nothing more. His fumble of the snap, and taking those two big sacks with all the time in the world to throw it away have basically let the pats right back in this game today. Time for people to take off the aqua and orange glasses on this guy. He makes nice plays, absolutely. He's not a guy to build a team around.
Leave the QB spot alone? Hell no..... Some of you guys get enamored way too easily. We've been searching for a top QB for a while now and we need to keep doing so. Matt Moore has shown enough for this franchise to chose him over Henne for the immediate future but he has not done nearly enough to justify this franchise thinking the QB situation is set. This organization will be irresponsible if they overlook any prospect they think can upgrade the QB position because of Moore.
Are you a believer that he's nothing more than a backup yet after another turnover? This whole collapse is pretty much on him and his poor decisions, and turnovers. At least we have our backup for next year.
This thread is the result of blinders. The D was playing lights out and the running game was going as well. Moore was playing well early too. But somehow, ALL of the credit of our team doing well went to him.
Well Moore completely faded with the game on the line when the going got tough and the pressure increased with the Pats offense turning it on. 17 points against the worst defense in the NFL isn't all that great. And Bush and the Defense did most of the work. Can't settle for mediocrity. If you don't have a QB who can be consistent and be a top QB, you keep searching. Maybe we should ban any threads talking about the playoffs in 2012, then maybe we won't jinx it and actually make it.
I guess all the believers are having second thoughts by now. Matt Moore is what he is, a decent backup QB in the NFL. What he is not, is a quality starting QB who can show up for four quarters and beat a good team in the NFL. Hopefully now all those fans who think Moore is the long term answer at the QB position will realize that the Dolphins biggest need is the same thing now it has been since Dan Marino retired. A FRANCHISE QB.
Numbers dont lie. Matt Moore is HORRIBLE in the 4th quarter. Not the guy I want quarterbacking my team when i need a win.
That's not really something you have to announce. It's like saying "I hate the devil." Most people take that as a given.
Oh yea 294 yards and 3 tds is doing absolutely nothing. Losing Vontae and Jake long lost us the game. Some of you are delusional.
You think Matt Moore is going to win us a Super Bowl? Note, we played the worst defense in the NFL. And we're on our way to a 6-10 or 5-11 season. How are people excited by this again? You think Panthers fans would rather still have Matt Moore or Cam Newton?
Face it Matt Moore hasn't had a bad game since the Giants game and that wasn't even really bad more mediocre. Everyone thinks we'll have a Tom Brady QB if we draft someone in the first round just because hes in our division. We won't! There's only 2 guys that's good in the NFL and its a 1 in a 100 chance. Keep Moore and build around him. Matt Moore with a great D would be almost unstoppable.
Moore's ball security is a concern and he had a bad 3rd quarter but this loss isnt solely on him. If defense stops Pats he has a shot to show what we all wanted to see.
He was Superman in the first half. Then in the second he just turned to regular old Christopher Reeve.
I didn't get to see the game, it sounds like Matt Moore made some mistakes but he also made some plays. The mistakes are easier to forgive when the QB is actually making some plays for you as well. 3 TDs is nothing to scoff at. That's the third 3 TD game this season.
Guess your definition of "delusional" is pretty loose. Miami hasn't played a solid defense during this little hot streak other than Dallas. Matt Moore left a lot of plays on the field against Dallas and Miami lost the game. The best defense he's faced otherwise was the Jets, and they made Matt Moore look like what he is. Matt Moore is a nice stopgap guy; a guy that can come off the bench and win you a few games or fill in when there's an injury. What he is not, however, is a guy you build around. He's the guy you use to bridge the gap to the guy you actually build around. Though if Miami ends up with Andrew Luck somehow, no bridge is necessary.
NFL game center's weather... had the winds at 5mph. Moore must have an awfully weak arm then... It was a bad throw. End of story.
