Why or why not Miami drafts Kellen Moore? He seems like a pretty accurate quarterback to me. Thoughts??
He's not even as big as Brees, and Brees was/is muscular. Moore is not. He is seriously skinny. He would get killed on an NFL field right now.
I can't think of his name. But that small QB from Louisville that was very accurate was on a lot of peoples 'hot list'. "Well Brees this and Brees that" is all you heard.... Well Brees is Brees. There aren't many of him out there. But people like tosee compare small accurate Qbs to him.....it just doesn't work. Ex....I can't remember that QBs name. Should tell you something
IMO KMoore is a longshot at best. Although he could be a nice gamble in the fifth or so. I agree with those that say he appears too frail. As the league continues to find more and more ways to protect QBs, it's not inconceivable that a smaller QB could succeed than would have been possible just a few years ago. I'm not predicting this or anything. I just don't think it's inconceivable to imagine a Vick sized QB that was a pure pocket guy (smart, quick release and hyper accuracy) succeeding. My gut says that Moore isn't enough of passer to pull that off though.
He's frail as many note, and I just don't think he's that great of a passer of the ball regardless of his statistics.
I don't think so. His frame is smaller; smaller bones, etc. He could bulk up in his midsection probably, but he'll always be limited by his wrists and ankles. Take it from a guy suffering from the same affliction!
No the small lefty... Edit: Stefan LaFors. Just searched 73% completion his senior year. But no arm and 5'11.
We shouldn't acquire this guy because he has the same last name as Matt. I mean if the fans start chanting "we want Moore," mass confusion would occur.
Brees wasn't 5'10" and 180 lbs... We'll see at the combine what his actual size is, but has he really ever shown anything like Brees ?? I don't think so...not even when Brees was at Purdue....
Remember the serious hit Pat White took on the sidelines in one game? And wasn't Pat White supposed to be pretty accurate in college?
Neither is Kellen Moore, every website I check has him at 6' and between 187-195, with most being in the 190s. You are right though, we will see at the combine. **edit** ESPN has him at 6'1" Here are some highlits from his junior year, so you can judge his arm strength for your self. Here is some good and bad from the Georgia game this year:
Only saw the Georgia footage but that system appears to be very QB-friendly. Don't recall seeing one NFL throw. Do they run play-action at Boise?
They ran a bunch, the 2010 highlit shows a few examples but most of the clips come in right before the throw so you don't see the action. Different system last year too, Boise's O coordinator went to Texas. His bowl game is on now. He wins and its 50 wins in college, with 3 losses by a combined 5 points total. Not to shabby.
Id take a shot on him in a late round. If you actually sit down and watch him play the kid has guts. Its worth using a 6th rounder on.
From what i've seen of him (Kellen Moore) he looks like he's a smart QB. Seems to be a great student of the game. Has good natural awareness and can get rid of the football. His size in my opinion isn't a problem because smaller/shorter QB's can get it done in the league. His problem lies in his arm strength. I don't see him as a franchise QB but a backup he is. A game manager with good intangibles. someone that won't lose you the game but won't win one for you either. If we are looking at Kellen Moore we should be looking at Case Keenum as well. Thats just my opinion.
Seemed like more shotgun (and they did a bunch last year) and spread stuff this year, so I did a little research and found this: http://smartfootball.com/gameplanning/breaking-down-boise-how-the-broncos-use-leverage-numbers-and-grass-to-gash-the-opposition The post is from prior to last years vt game. Basically Boise's scheme is no scheme. A boise coach was quoted as saying "We run plays, we don't have an offense. It makes it difficult to defend."
If Moore plays poorly these last two games Iam seriously thinking about doubling up on the QB position, A combination of Tannehill/Russell Wilson would be my choice if I can't get RG3..
Yeah I've studied their offense, wrote an in-depth post once about their concepts. They are a big shift and trade team and manipulate Moore's reads. There isn't a big difference from years past.
50 wins in college is dang impressive.....I really love the kids moxy and he really reminds me for several obvious reasons, and some subtle reasons of Doug Flutie. Winners are winners! Its uncanny!
I'd take a flyer on him in the seventh round. Why not? But I wouldn't expect him to ever be more than a second stringer.
There is a good crop of 2nd and 3rd tier guys this year Deej: Wilson, Moore, Lindley, Dom Davis, Cousins etc Would be a good yr to take a purely developmental guy to challenge Pat Devlin for his slot on the practice squad.
