Somewhere in Davie, perhaps by the water cooler, Matt Moore just fistpumped and said a silent "thank you Sparano".
The Browns have 2 first round picks, one of them likely a top-5 pick. If anyone wants to outbid them to trade up to the #1 spot, good luck. No pun intended.
So...now we get the 2nd best lineman instead of the 2nd best QB? I don't see how winning helps us at all, regardless of which QB's do or don't come out. Even if you think Moore is the guy - which you obviously (inexplicably) do - wouldn't having a higher draft pick help him in that it puts better talent around him?
Frankly I don't give a sh#t what Moore or Sparano are saying, thinking, or feeling.... Yayyyyy Matt lets go beat New England now, light them up "surgeon" they have no defense....
If they take an OL they should be fired, we never had much of a shot at the top Qb's from the start, we are not crappy enough. All Barkley staying an amateur does, imo, is allow us to add better quality playmakers on offense. I'd love Mike Flyd across from Marshall for example, or Upshaw playing the Will and Wake the Sam.
I believe somehow, some way, we still end up with Andrew Luck.... I believe Luck pulls an Eli/Elway and gets himself traded to..........the Phins... Go ahead and bash me, but the Luck/Manning will not be on the same team come draft day.
Again though, all you're really doing is putting expensive rims on a **** car. Polishing a turd, putting lipstick on a pig, whatever you want to call it, you're ignoring the QB position. Matt Moore isn't a Super Bowl caliber QB, he never will be. Brady, Peyton, Rodgers, Brees, Eli, Big Ben, Matt Moore. Which one of these doesn't belong? Courtney Upshaw? MICHAEL FLOYD?! /hangs self
oh well i rather be pissed/bitter/sad now then on draft day. I dont think he wouldve been there at our spot
This decision by Barkley merely highlights how kind of uninspiring this draft class is sans the QBs. Shades of 2005 to me (although that rodgers guys ended up pretty good, who did we select again?)
I don't want Barkley anyway. I don't like any of those USC Qb's. It hurts us in that it thins the QB's out at the top and make it harder for us to get our guy. I know CK has reservations about RG3's committment to football but he is the guy I am most interested in past Luck. Whatever happens they will have to pony up a bit more to trade up and secure their guy. It won't be happening for us at 13 or so where I figure we will be picking.
Uhm yeah. We need some guys who score Td's and who keep the other team from scoring via the pass, those two are as good as any. To quote Matt Moore: "Suck it Dolfans!"
Cool story. http://www.thephins.com/forums/showthread.php?67431-Updated-Matt-Barkley-to-Return-to-USC
So, does Moore get the "We Want Orton" chant at the first open scrimmage next year? Steven ross is not laughing Pad. Take a look at volin's blog regarding ticket sales this year. We are playing to 78% capcity, down with Buffalo, Cincy and other perennial dregs. Going into next season with Moore as the unquestioned starter without a 1st round pick on the roster is simply bad business for Ross. He will make somethign happen Steven r
Good question, should fans have that much input? Next HC has to handle fans, to me that is obvious, the one voice stuff simply must be jettisoned. The counter to that is not to make a bad football decision that bumps numbers up short term, but leaves us screwed Schmo. This is why imo, ross goes all out for fisher, he has to do both, cater to fans and make good football moves. See above Drinks more expensive bottled water then we drink.
With Barkley deciding to stay at USC and the Dolphins not drafting until probably eight or lower, it now appears highly unlikely that the Dolphins will go for a QB in the first round. Luck and RG111, if RG111 decides to enter the draft, are the only two QB's worthy of being taken in the first round. Unless the Dolphins make a blockbuster trade up in the draft, I suspect that Ireland will trade down and take another offensive lineman in the first round. This means Matt Moore is now the QB of the future for the Dolphins. With no franchise QB on the horizon, this is going to make it very difficult to attract a big name coach in Miami. To me, the QB's in the next tier, Jones, Tannehill, Weeden, are no better than Chad Henne and I have no desire to see the Dolphins go down that road again. I guess I will just have to learn to accept that Moore is the Dolphins QB now, and it appears he will be for years to come.
Honestly I love this. I mean don't get me wrong but this is how it goes for us. So now when we draft at #7-10 were going to no be able to get any star QB and relegated again to Project picks. Were not going to move up. No new head coach especially of any seniority is going to come in and give away the next 2-3 years worth of picks (his stamp on a team) and get luck or RGIII. Once again the Phins will suffer for stupidity on the field. Winning has done nothing for this team this year NOTHING GOOD..
Do you know how much Paul Brown makes every year as owner of the Bengals? It really isn't hard to cut enough costs to offset 30% of your tickets being unsold. These guys are making money hand over fist whether fans buy tickets or not.
Matt Moore deserves some Miami love man, he kept this year semi respectable but at the same time he's not going to win us a championship or division for that matter. Looking at what Matt Moore was able to do with our offense I am highly confident that if we get some upgraded talent at QB we would be in great shape. PS USC Qb's always end up being trash, Barkley no thanks.
Henne, Beck /Chris Chambers ? **** if i would have known Chris Chambers had played qb I would have started 100 chris Chambers vs Dan Marino threads
Personally I feel it is your fighting your initial and correct instinct and your subconscious overriding your typing. We need another Wr, you "know it" you are just not emoting it.
Landry Jones would be smart to declare now. His stock has no where to go but up. Add to that the premium on QBs, the fact that Weeden reads AARP Magazine and bam he's given the illusion of being worth a first round pick.
I suspect MMore drags us into respectability, if given more weaponry, ie, WR's that make Db's pee their pants, but he simply must up his accuracy. Keep in mind Aqua/Travis, a Qb's accuracy to them is as 40 times to a Wr, you have it or you don't.
Horrible news on every front. Not only is a franchise Qb not available to us but it moves other Qbs up the draft boards and also makes other position players move up a notch.....anyone that thinks this is good news for Miami is an idiot. I would have loved to land Barkely but him returning makes us getting ANY player that we want harder now. Matt Moore and the BPA is not winning us a title so I'm not sure who would think this is good news.
On talent alone, before today, Weeden was arguably the second best QB in this draft. After today, he absolutely is the second best QB in this draft.
The best outcome for Barkley sake is that USC wins the national Championship and he wins the Heisman, The worst outcome for Barkley is that re receives a career ending injury and he goes to work for Walmart
We can't say FOR SURE that the other QB's have poor potential....but it doesn't inspire hope considering our history. There's a chance Weeden or Jones exceeds expectations, but besides hoping for that, we also have to hope Jeff Ireland nails the pick...which also doesn't inspire much hope. We have no idea what the Jaguars or Browns will do. There's still a small chance we pick ahead of them. We have to lose these next 2 though. Browns play the Ravens and Steelers though...
So much for the talk that Kalil and Barkley were joined at the hip as for deciding to declare or stay. Thing is though, Kalil can still change his mind and go back now that Barkley is staying. I think they have til a certain date in mid Jan to rescind their decision to declare.
My plan B would be less popular than yours. Draft David DeCastro, and move Richie to RG. Or else draft Riley Reiff for RT and go with Jerry at RG. Think about how much better Moore could do with some better pass blocking. All the talk of his not handling pressure but there were innumerable plays where he is barely to his drop point and swallowed up in a sea of pass rushers.
Don't feel bad, Padre does it too. In another thread he referred to Michael Jenkins as Malcolm Jenkins. Of course he'll probably say he did it on purpose to see if Stitches or I would correct him.
