Ouch. That might seal it. Wonder why Barkley's father said he's declaring. Once again we play just well enough to avoid improving this franchise long-term.
All Eyez on RG3 and Landry now, if they don't come out...wow...what a disappointment for some. Matt Moore will dance a jig
Bye bye, Barkley. I guess you just couldn't pass up the chance to learn under Lane Kiffin for another year.
It will be a dissapointment to Ross/Ireland as well. If the worst occurs, and none of RGIII/BArkley/Jones come out, I imagine its veteran time. But not David Garrard. I mean a good veteran
Guys go to this link... http://www.usctrojans.com/allaccess/?media=289618 look at the HUGE Xmas tree right behind where he will announce... And the GIFTS...oh my all the gifts.....
We'll see, he would be a good fit if Fisher is the HC. BTW, Imo CK had the wrong take, he posed the question if non SFLers were happy with this outcome If anything this shows the danger of that line of thinking, to lose on purpose only to see the prize of doing so not arrive, it looks like you played yourself.
Guess you gotta look at it this way for Barkley. Barring something unforeseen, he'll still be a millionaire, just a year later. And he'll PROBABLY be better prepared for the NFL (though no guarantee, with examples like Lienart). So, knowing that, he's got a chance to compete for a national title next year, and further enjoy the briefness that is his college career when compared to what should be a long NFL career. He can never get that year back, so he probably figures, he'll take it. I'm sure there's probably a special feeling that college football, and that atmosphere that is truly different than anything you can find in the NFL - and he's going to enjoy it for one more year. Sucks for us, but what will be will be. This may end up being the thing that puts something in motion that will change our franchise for the better going forward, and we don't even know it yet. Remember, we got Dan Marino with the 27th pick ....
Possibly. And there are other potentials out there. CK has mentioned Schaub as a trade possibility. You never know. But I'm 100% sure we are not going into next season with Matt Moore and Losman as our top 2 QBs. There will either be a highly drafted rookie or a proven veteran who will start
The whole point is we didn't lose on purpose. We tried to win and succeeded 5 times. The colts barely tried and unless something strange happens tonight or next week, they will be rewarded
No. This particular year, it would have been worth it. This was simply a unique opportunity that presented itself to the bad teams and the Colts saw that opportunity and pursued it. They didn't out and out throw games but they were barely trying. And now, it will very likely pay off.
You would prefer to have a team that tanked? I just don't get that... But I don't need it explained, I understand the desire for a great QB. I want one too. But I also want to be able to watch the games and root for our guys to win. What's the point otherwise? Either way, I certainly don't hold it against anybody for feeling strongly one way or another. But it's just silly to argue over it... The funny thing on both sides of this SFL deal are those that get mad at the other side - nobody here had *any* effect on our season, so getting mad at either side of the fanbase for how they feel is just plain ridiculous.
They absolutely were trying, just failed miserably. Theyve acquired no talent in the last 4 years, and now they are essentially in the same position as an expansion team. I'm not sure thats a good position to be in.
They sucked when the got Peyton Manning. Two years later were 13-3. When you have the QB, everything else gets much easier.
They are playing Xmas music for those who are in a "joyful" mood.... http://www.usctrojans.com/allaccess/?media=289618
Matt Barkley is staying in school. He's told his teammates. That's why they're all buzzing and happy. http://rotoworld.com/headlines/nfl/224367/report-usc-qb-barkley-staying-in-school
If all these qb's do return to school. I am kind of excited to see if we can take the BPA with our first pick, and then trade back into the first between #15-25 and taking Weeden. Unless he blows up the combine. I just wonder if it would be worth taking Justin Blackmon if we were able the two together!!!!!
99% of the time, I'd agree with you. But this year, with a sure-fire QB prospect like Luck (with us needing QB in the worst way), I disagree with you. For this year only...
Barkley stays at USC. That was his decision just announced. Oh, well....tannehill and weeden and RG3. December 22 (4:00 PM): SC QB to stay in school ... In a big surprise, Southern California junior QB Matt Barkley has just announced that he will not be entering the 2012 draft. Barkley had been expected to be a top 5 pick, but opted to return to school for a shot at the national championship with the Trojans coming off probation.
Now we should be looking at BPA with the first, then maybe trading back into the late first and getting Weeden or another lesser tier QB. Unless Peyton is released then you could put off drafting a QB till next year. Or maybe the Rams get that #1 pick and we can work a mega-deal trade for Luck? I'd look into that too. For the record, not a big fan of Barkley, but having him in the draft kept a lot more options open for Miami.
