I don't really care for Newton's character. He could go out there and say he's the best QB of all time and I could care less. He is a phenomenal talent that makes some brilliiant throws. He is not suppose to be playing at this high of a level and even when he has had issues this year, he has been pretty good. I would wager a guess and say no one expected him to perform at this level. Even those who thought Newton would dominate or be great would not have guessed this because once you pop in the games of his, its like whoa.
No denying the talent, just bringing up the issues as to why I did not want to move up in the draft and select him..I didn't and wouldn't, want that kind of leader for my team, regardless of the unbelievable talent.
This is what no'one is talking about Raf..Quantifying what wins football games?? Tebow is without a doubt, imo, winning games for a team that is far less talented than the aforementioned Newton's team, and far less talented personally.. Why Gardenhead?...Their both essentially rookies.. Shoot, Cam's offensive skillset players, including oline, is far superior than what Tebow has to deal with... So why not compare the two? compare the dynamics of proper leadership relative to wins and losses..
I have been on Tebow's bandwagon for a long time. IMO people were so blinded by the almost meaningless mechanics that they failed to see the potential in what he did well. I think you are being similarly blinded in regards to Newton. I agreed with you that there were sufficient concerns that I wasn't willing to trade up for him (more than five picks or less), but that doesn't mean that there isn't a ton of things that he could do and has been doing well.
I know you were Rafs when it came to tebow, we defended that kid to no end, however with Newton, you may be right that my dislike for this mans lack of humility and personality may be blinding my eye, however, I am on the record in saying his skillset deserved the #1 pick, however, I just feel like with this type of personality and lack of humility, he's not going to be able to unite a team for a long period of time..eventually that big mouth will get him either knocked out, or quit on..Do I have a lot of conviction that thats what will happen?, no, do I hope to hell that it does, to humble him, yes, very much so...
To end this conversation. Was Favres mouth quit on or knocked out? Then why on Earth would Cams. There has been a lot worse in this lifetime...
How about Reggie Bush's "we stink" proclamation? Did he disrespect the entire team? Did we not go on a run of wins all while he completely stepped up his game? Huh? Huh? Please tell me how Cam Newton is a fake punk, but Reggie Bush is not?
I heard both Interviews and there is no comparison to me, one was a vet saying WE'' stink, the other was a rookie who said ''they'' stink..He just degraded them much worse than that.. You don't threaten the franchise that just believed in you and set you and your family up for life.. This punk has a lot to learn in life, and in a locker room..

They cant just do scores and highlights, they have to to resort a bounch of useless drama to stir up the populace to put viewers on the edge of their seats making them stay tuned to see what happens next. I dont think what Newton said in the interview will have much effect on the team one way or another. Im sure what goes on on the field and in the locker rooms is not the same as what you see or hear about in interviews. My bet would be, that if what cam said on TV upsets you, you probably would be scarred for life with what gets said by players in any NFL locker room when the cameras arnt looking.....
