If Barkley declares and the Draft Standings were to stay how they are right now I think we could still end up with Matt Barkley. Here is mock as of right now.

    1. Indianapolis 0-16 (.550) - QB Andrew Luck
This is pretty much a done deal.
    2. Minnesota 3-13 (.560) - CB Morris Claiborne
They have old CB's that simply put are not getting the job done. Ranked 26th in passing yards. When Tebow throws all over against you, you have a problem.
    3. St Louis 3-13 (.580) - OT Matt Kalil
They have given up the 2nd most sacks (behind us lol) and have given up the 2nd most QB hits. Sam Bradford and AJ Feeley both got hurt behind that line.
    4. Washington 5-11 (.460) - QB Robert Griffin III
Surprise!!! He fits way better into their offense compared to Barkley. They love running bootlegs and moving the QB around. Also they were linked to Jake Locker and traded their pick after he was selected.
    5. Jacksonville 5-11 (.510) - WR Justin Blackmon
They average 140 passing yards per game (lowest in the NFL). Blackmon will help Gabbert out by providing a capable receiver.
    6. Carolina 5-11 (.510) - CB Dre Kirkpatrick
They could use help anywhere along the defensive side of the ball, based on their talent I see them going BPA for their defense. They gave up 6.1 yards per pass tied for 2nd worse in the NFL.
    7. Miami 5-11 (.520) QB Matt Barkley
Boom goes the dynamite. I just think the three biggest factors in this coming true are: 1.) he declares 2.) we stay ahead of the Cleveland Browns 3.) The Seahawks or Browns do not trade up in front of us.

We have a hard schedule remaining and if Matt Moore or Jake Long misses the game vs the Bills I expect us to lose. We should also lose to the Jets and Patriots the only thing is that these teams will raise our Strength of Schedule which could drop us some spots in the draft. It sure would be a nice gift if the Browns beat the Cardinals next week. Also after looking at the Browns remaining schedule they might end with a higher Strength of Schedule considering they face the Cardinals, Steelers, and Ravens. I don't expect Tampa to be in play for a QB either. If we lose out I think this is our draft slot (if not higher).

    Lose baby, Lose

I don't think the Rams will draft Kalil with 2 very high picks at those positions already on the team..

Justin Smith and Roger Saffold have not been holding their own. They have surrendered the 2nd most sacks (43) and 2nd most QB hits (89) thus far this season. The got Sam Bradford injured earlier on in the year and then AJ Feeley when he filled in for Bradford. They drafted both players in 2010, so if they aren't showing something now two years later it is concerning. I think if they draft Kalil, then move Saffold inside to Guard it could greatly improve their offensive line.

They do have the worst offense in the League though, averaging a putrid 11.7 Points Per Game. They may not go Tackle here, but based on the talent on the board I think it is what they will do. You can draft Kalil in round 1 have a cornerstone for the next 10 years and then use your 2nd round pick on a WR and greatly improve your offense. If on the other hand you go WR in round 1 (which could be a high probability) you would have to address the line in round 2. This isn't as favorable though in my opinion because basically an elite WR without a good offensive line doesn't mean much at all.

It could go either way, I just personally think they take a Tackle in round 1. If not look for them to go with a WR.

I believe Matt Barkley could very well fall to Miami's pick but I don't agree with some of the particulars of that mock. Specifically the Rams picking Matt Kalil does not seem very likely.

But all the other picks seem like they could happen. Only thing is if the Rams take Justin Blackmon before the Jaguars then the Jaguars may have to go Defensive End or Corner...if they go DE then you can just sub in Coples for their Blackmon pick and then Carolina still could very well go for Dre Kirkpatrick. If the Jags go for Kirkpatrick (I agree Claiborne will be gone) then the Panthers IMO would probably go for a DT...perhaps Dontari Poe or Brandon Thompson.

Good points, I wonder if Jacksonville would then consider drafting Matt Kalil then too. I guess I am just surprised how far Kalil could fall based on teams needs; especially since he is a beast.

I've seen a couple of mocks that have Barkley falling to us at 8.

Matt Kalil is a good player and to me the best left tackle prospect in the Draft, but I don't think he carries a grade like a Joe Thomas or a Jake Long. I wouldn't look at it as "falling". He'll go where he's needed. Nothing wrong with that. I doubt Jacksonville likes him either, they like what Eugene Monroe has done at left tackle.

Vikings need a LT worse then the Rams.....

Perfect trade partner: Big Jake and our 1st for the 2and overall pick.

I'm not trading Jake Long unless it's for Andrew Luck.

If Jax drafts another DL I will LOL...they need help bad at DB.

No secret how I feel about Barkley but we may have to trade up a few slots to secure him, and I'm ok with that. Let's put this QB thing behind us and move on.

Matt Khalil is entering the draft. I guessing Matt Barkley is headed to the draft as well.

The real question: "Is Matt Barkley worth Big Jake"

Exactly, I love Barkley as a prospect, but he is still a step down from Luck. And I believe that an elite LT is a very important position, arguably just behind QB.

Imo, there is a distinct possibility that Matt Barkley is a 6'1 QB..

Or we could just trade another draft pick.

I think we'd all prefer that.

Our 1st rounder + a past #1 overall pick (who's arguably the best at his critically important position) for Minnesota's #2 or #3 overall pick?

The Vikings would be the team giving up extra picks for that trade. lol.
Matt Kalil?.... or Jake Long?. Is that a trick question?

Is it that inconceivable that a future first could get the job done for either RGIII or Barkley?

No, not all. I see all these panic posts about how we won't get a QB if we win another game or how all the QBs will definitely be gone by x pick and I find myself wondering if these people have ever watched a draft before. Rodgers dropped to the 20s. At this point in the process, Rivers was generally considered a 2nd or 3rd round pick. There is so much movement still to come that speculating based on the rankings of a few websites is pointless.

Honestly, I like where we are now because we know we will have to move up to get a top QB. If we were sitting at pick 6 with the Browns at 7, they could easily trade up in front of us knowing that we would take a QB and take our guy. Now, we are in an action area where we know we will have to move up to secure our guy. I think we could move up with our 1st, 2nd, and next years 2nd to a top pick in order to secure our QB. The draft is going to be hella fun to watch this year.
