Well, Sparano is ghosted, new guy coming in, new Staff coming in what changes do you expect to see?

And keep in mind, it is rare, but not unheard of for a New HC to keep existing Staff.

Though some probably should be looked at, Rizzi/Nolan/Rodgers/Sheridan all have done a good job in my view.

    I'd think:

    -Oline shake up
-Could see Burnett gone, maybe not though
    -YBell is probably in trouble

    Etc.

Why would we jettison Burnett? Improve our safeties and replace S Smith in secondary.

50% turnover the first year, 2nd year and 3rd year and then the coach being fired.

Need to find a great head coach..

Need to figure out my top 5 order of college QB's besides, Luck.

Need to have a plan in place to move into the #1 position in the draft..

Need 3 upgrades along the oline...yup..especially right tackle, preferably a free agent.

    We need our Jordy Nelson..

We need a better player than Koa...Kooch or Tank will do..

    I wouldn't resign Kendall..

Try to sign Solai at a good price..

I would start the process of some new litigation involving conditioning and nutrition supervision to all players, and passing it along to the union, if I'am gonna pay these damn Ferrari's, Iam gonna make sure their tested and fueled with the best.

I'am gonna start the campaign for either mass improvements to the current stadium, or building a new one..The current one is costing us hundreds of millions of dollars for getting dismissed by the superbowl committee and Goodell..So look at it from that perspective, were not getting the superbowl and were losing hundreds of millions of dollars...DO SOMETHING TO THE CURRENT VENUE...Cause if your really smart, and you wanna make money, The Venue, is what its all about, and you will get those profitable superbowls again, and if your really smart, you will build it strictly with intimacy and intimidation in the blueprint.

Target two nice pretty free agents..One for each side of the ball..

Have a plan involving a trade up scenario back into the first round from your 2nd.

    Start the big board..

    Lets go scoutin boyz.

Well, why not stick Jerry at RT for a 3 gm audition?

We have no idea what is wrong with Big Jake, tbh, I'd like to see him shut down for the rest of the yr, which means Garner will play LT, or heck, stick Jerry over there and Garner at RT.

I do think we need some changes on the OL, how about putting Pouncey at LG, Incognito at RG, Jerry at RT, adios Vern C and Colombo?

I've also soured on Vontae Davis a bit, but he won't be moved or anything, I just am not feeling him as much as I was, that booze episode is sticking in my head with him, when Brandon stinking Marshall is calling you unprofessional what is that really saying?

I think there's 15-25 guys presently on the roster (or IR) that could be out of jobs. For starters:

Chad Henne, J.P. Losman, Marlon Moore, Roberto Wallace, Julius Pruitt, Jeron Mastrud*, Will Yeatman, Will Barker, Marc Colombo, Lydon Murtha*, Vernon Carey*, John Jerry*, Richie Incognito, Ryan Baker, Phillip Merling, Ikaika Alama-Francis, Austin Spitler, Jason Taylor, Jason Trusnik, Will Allen*, Yeremiah Bell*, and Tyrone Culver.

    * = bubble guy, but in my opinion, the Dolphins could do without in 2012.

That's 22 names right there...nearly half the roster. I'd imagine a few of those guys might be kept and perhaps a few names I didn't list will be gone.

I think first and foremost, as Stephen Ross said, quarterback will be addressed. I'd like to see someone who has a history of developing QBs, or has an offensive system that is even QB-friendlier than Daboll's brought in in some capacity (HC, OC, QB Coach, whatever). I think the team could use a more mobile LG - I've had my eye on the Ravens Ben Grubbs -, and could upgrade the entire right side of the O-line. As Boomer said in a different thread, you could stand to upgrade over Brian Hartline, and add more talent to the TE spot and/or figure out a way to use Fasano, Clay, and whomever, better.

Defensively, I think you could really use someone better than Koa Misi opposite Cameron Wake. Perhaps have Misi playing situationally a la Jason Taylor this year until his pass-rushing skills are futher developed. I definitely think FS could use a major upgrade. There's not really anyone in the draft aside from Markelle Martin that piques my interest early. I'd take a look at Dashon Goldson or Reggie Nelson (Yes, that Reggie Nelson. He's had a major renaissance in Cincinnati and is on a 1 year deal at present) in free agency.

I think if you really wanted to get cute, you could upgrade Sean Smith. At the very least, you can certainly upgrade the sub package players instead of having guys like Will Allen (age), Nolan Carroll (skillset), and Jonathan Wade. What is Jimmy Wilson? Is he a nickel or dime corner, or is he a sub-package safety? I'm probably in the minority here, but I don't see a future starter at either position in Jimmy Wilson. Fine special teams and bit player yes, starter, no. Do you move Chris Clemons or Reshad Jones to strong safety if you get rid of Yeremiah Bell.

That's where I'd start at. QB, OL, OLB, FS. Those four spots I'd mark as "must upgrades". WR, TE, CB depth I'd mark as "next in lines". If you get enough needs or come into position in the draft or free agency to upgrade over guys like Richie Incognito, Brian Hartline, Sean Smith, or Yeremiah Bell, I think you do it. But don't spin your wills digging yourself more holes than you already have to fill.

That's my list of hopes to see from a new staff. Obviously, that work will have to be done in harmony with Jeff Ireland (and perhaps Carl Peterson or whoever a new GM might be after the Draft if Miami has to cross that bridge. I'm not a Jeff Ireland fan...but after having studied up some more on his moves, I'd be willing to see what he does in free agency and the Draft and re-evaluate after that. If I were Stephen Ross that is.

It all depends on who the new coach is, hard to say.

I think we can all agree on a new younger QB being drafted.

I expect a franchise QB. We get one, we win. We don't, we lose, and our next head coach gets fired, too. I don't care how many 'holes' on the OL we fill, or how many pro bowls our new free safety goes to. I'm convinced it really is all about the QB. Until we get a REAL one again, we can forget about competing with the Pats, Steelers, Packers, and Saints.

At this point, I really don't care. I could live with any 1 of about 5 head coaching candidates out there. Just get a f*****g QB.

No, don't agree with that NJ, not 100$ anyway.

But I do think fans will whine and moan and have one drafted in rd #1, whether they are a perfect prospect or not.

I say perfect because when you take a Qb that high, you have to play him, all of the Bravo Sierra about Rodgers ignores the fact the Packers had 3 yrs to sit him, and still make the playoffs etc.

We would not have that luxury, and of course this assumes he pans out in the first place, so the entire season will be held hostage while the usual "GIVE HIM 3 YRS!" crap is mouthed over and over again.

I guess that makes me more of a fan of a Veteran Qb being brought in.

All these positional wish lists would be more appropriate if it were Ireland who had been fired, rather than Sparano. Sparano didn’t buy the groceries, “increased personnel authority” or not.

So, what do we do with the players we have, and how does a new coach handle them? Jaj will be thrilled to hear this, but a switch to the 4-3 might be in order. Jeff Fisher would probably prefer to switch over if he’s hired, and we have most of the personnel necessary to run it. But the defense DID play extremely well for a stretch, well enough that Mike Nolan and the 3-4 could conceivably be retained. He has 2 years left on his deal anyway, so there’s no real need to fire him.

Bowles is gone. I have him penciled in as the new Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator.

The entire offensive staff is probably going to be flushed. To an extent we’ll be throwing some babies out with the bathwater (Dorrell and maybe DeGuglielmo)… but, oh well. They’ll find jobs pretty quickly.

What happens with the offense depends on what we do at QB. Jason La Canfora, when he was talking about Bill Cowher as our next head coach, floated the idea that Tom Moore would be Cowher’s OC for a year or two while he waited out Whisenhunt and Grimm in Arizona. That’s not a bad idea, but it’s probably not going to happen. Todd Haley might be a dark horse candidate for the OC job, as his offense in Arizona was pretty good—though Kurt Warner was already fully developed, and Matt Cassel is not exactly an elite QB, which puts an asterisk on Haley’s track record of developing quarterbacks. Theoretical HC Jeff Fisher could conceivably raid the college ranks for staff, since most of his Titans staff kept their jobs AFAIK. Mike Martz will also be available, though I’m wary of him.

I don’t think we’ll see 50% turnover, but there’ll definitely be new faces on the offense. Hartline’s probably not long for the team, Fasano has lost one of his biggest backers, oh, and by the way, our right guard is a free agent and our right tackle is going to be out on his *** ASAFP.

There were going to be a lot of changes next year regardless of whether or not Sparano was retained, but at least now we’ll have a better coaching structure in place for the incoming players.

I hope to see efficient use of timeouts, better play calling, some competency with respect to clock management, half time adjustments, and an oline that isn't offensive, for starters.

my one fear is whether we will be able to resign our young FAs as they approach their first contract negotiations. I think alot will depend on who the next coach is and how much the players liked Sparano. I think you can forget about the home team discount now. I think every player will ask for the moon and be willing to walk to the highest bidder. Wake and Soliai worry me and Vontae in another year. The message is clear to the players. Its every man for himself

Worry about this if the players don’t like the new coach. Just because they liked Sparano doesn’t mean they’ll automatically hate the new guy.

I can’t see the same locker room that liked Tony Sparano turning around and despising, say, Jeff Fisher.

Ross knows that an elite qb is essential beyond winning games. The Fins have not had a marquee face of the franchise since Marino. Let's face it...fans watched the Fins during the mid 80's-90's because of Marino. Fans wanted to see Dan the Man throw td's. I'm sure Ross knows getting a qb like Luck would turn this franchise around. I just hope the Colts are willing to trade that first pick to us for something reasonable. I'm sure the fan base would be ok with a competitive team on 2012 just as long as we get our Qb in this upcoming draft.

    Needs: QB, RT, RG

Our D is good enough to compete right now. What to do with Solai and Langford? Can Odrick take over for Langford? I think Irish would sign a Defensive FA if it's an obvious upgrade. Unfortunately, there is no way we can address all of our needs in 1 offseason.

If Sparano was not fired and retained then they would have payed Jake anything he wanted, Now ? He will not get the same huge contract with a new staff until he comes back next year completely healthy and proves he is still durable. With the new salary alignment in the draft you can get a player cheap. Not saying he would be as good as Jake was but you have to ask, is Jake going to be as good as Jake was.

I blame everyone from the coaches to the trainers to Jake himself. You are playing on the edge with a bad shoulder so you compensate the way your body moves. Then this year throw in a gimp knee surgery right before camp starts because a putz did it bad the firs time. No practice and now you have to play and compensate on your newly operated shoulder and your gimpy left knee which was just redone.

The coaches pushed him into action because why ? They never bothered to find a legit backup for him and no, Garner by far proved he cannot play tackle. Garner will be gone with a new staff in here or at the very least, be a backup again. Coumbo is most definately gone. Carey ? He may be a favorite but right now he is a pile of smelly doo doo out there. He will never sign a big contract ever again, here or anywhere else. He had better saved up some money.

As far as Pouncey at LG, I do not think it would work. Big deal the kid is quick, one on one he still gets tossed or turned around, a lot. Thats against sloth like NTs too, put him up against athletic DTs and IMO, he will get beaten like a drum.
