If what you say happens, then he is in a better position than he EVER was in NO, why you ask? Because he is on the LA Lakers. Period.
Of course it's not folly, unless you consider Theo Ratliff and Joe Smith great depth, which is what I was talking about. Everyone knows Gasol, Bynum, and Odom was a great front court. If the other shoe drops, it's a great trade, if not, it's a bad trade. Pretty much what it comes down to. And I doubt they make a trade without a contract extension in place. Would be career suicide if they didn't.
Deal is now on hold. Oy vey. If the other owners block this, than the NBA is a complete joke. All teams get what they need out of it. Rockets get a big man and cap relief, the Lakers get their PG and the Hornets get young pieces to start the rebuild. Other teams are simply jealous if this delay is due to them. It would NOT surprise me though if the Magic now get a king's ransom from some team that is butthurt because they didn't pull this deal off.
Of course they could, but that becomes irrelevant for the most part if Howard doesn't agree to a contract extension. Like I said a few posts earlier, trading much of your team for a one year rental is career suicide.
ESPNSteinLine Marc Stein One source close to the three-team Chris Paul trade talks just toldESPN.com: "The deal is off."
If 3 teams agree to a trade, who the **** is he to say whether or it's allowed or not? Complete joke if true imo.
So the Lakers pulled the plug because they aren't getting a big in return? David West sign and trade eh?
The Heat signed Juwan Howard as a free agent to a max contract. David Stern voided the deal due to tampering charges. No, the point is that there’s ample precedent for the commissioner voiding deals.
Yes. Stop being a homer over this. The Lakers changed the terms after an initial deal had been agreed to. Eventually a 3 team trade was worked out. Then Stern blocked it at the behest of other owners.
I'm being a homer? I asked you to provide evidence and you come up with Juwon Howard? Who is the homer?
I gave you a prior act of the NBA commissioner voiding an agreement. You brushed it off by saying that because this is a trade, it’s different. No, it’s not different. It’s the commissioner intervening to determine where players will play. There’s nothing homerish about pointing that out, especially since the entire point of highlighting the Juwan Howard void wasn’t to ridicule or mock you. It was simply to bring to your attention an instance where this very same thing has happened before. You can call BS on this without using the word “unprecedented”. Sorry you don’t have CP3.
I actually feel bad for Hornets fans. What can they do with Paul now? Can't trade him to another team now, not until new ownership is in place, who knows when that will be.
