If both are healthy, neither one will want to sit on the bench.

There's a difference between the #1 overall and the #24 overall sitting. Also Favre was healthy around that time.

What else is he gonna say?

    -"We're not gonna draft Luck"
    -"We're gonna trade Peyton Manning"
    -"We're gonna cut Peyton Manning"

Its all SMOKESCREEN! They're gonna keep Manning and trade down! Miami will trade up and give them a zillion picks plus anyone on the team not named Jake Long!!!

Yea, so be it. Although it is just ridiculous to me that Manning has to get hurt this year of all years and that the Colts fall apart to epically bad levels coincided with another year we are pretty bad.

But I'm over it at this point. On to Blow for Barkley

My dreams of Andy Luck throwing gentle passes to Brian Hartline for first downs will not die until he signs with another team. Until then, a boy can dream..........

Wow, he really cited the embarrassment that was the end of Farve's days in Green Bay?

I'm not really sure what or who I want in the draft TBH, besides more team speed at every level, I have no real vision of what we need aside from inside out/sideline to sideline types over "well coached, smart, tough players who cannot run away from turtles"

I'm guessing that Bill Polian leaked what he leaked to Adam Schefter (taking Luck, "no matter what") on purpose...sending a message to Andrew and Oliver that if they're thinking about pulling an Eli, there's no A.J. Smith there that's going to fold like a tent. Also sending a message to the teams in need of a QB that if they're going to put all their eggs in the basket of hoping that Andrew and Oliver pull an Eli and get the Colts to relent...good luck with that, you're probably going to miss out on a good QB you could have taken alternatively, and you're not going to get Andrew.

They would be dumb not to take Andrew. Peyton won't be effective forever and I have my doubts about him ever being the same player again. Sucks we won't have a shot at him but what defines the Dolphins experience more than being perpetually disappointed?

    Good point Aqua.

I would trade this year's first, next year's first, Jake Long and Vontae for Luck. If Barkley comes out, and we could get him for less, I "settle" for Barkley.

I wouldn't throw Long on any deal right now. The 2 firsts + Vontae is already a really high price, but I'd pull that trigger.

When you think about it, you're not "giving away" two firsts, you're really only trading away one first, cause you're getting their pick - Luck.

I don't think it's a given that Indy takes Luck rather than trading away the pick. I think that it's more likely that they take Luck, but it's not a done deal. They probably have more on Manning's injury than they are releasing and I see Polian as a guy who might value the multiple picks very highly. It's clear that the overall talent on this team is thin. I also expect that there will be several rumors that some teams have Barkley rated above Luck and that some of those may even be true. I don't agree but it is not unreasonable depending on what skills you prioritize. Barkley's decision making this season has been lights out, probably the best in the country, even better than Luck. If decision making is your top criteria than Barkley might be your top guy.

By saying he's willing to keep both, Polian's ensuring max value for the #1 pick and possibly Manning, too. If the rest of the league believes him, they'll likely be willing to give up more in trade b/c Polian will hold all the leverage. Heck, his QB situation might remain a mystery to himself until draft day rolls around and the trade offers start flowing in.

Secondarily, it motivates Manning to work hard from now until April (should Polian decide to stay with him).

IMO, I think they know Manning is probably done from his injury, and they are tanking to get Luck. However, they are going to string this out to see if anyone will be willing to trade for Peyton and pick up that $24 million payment he is due, or however much it is. What they are doing is trying to sucker someone into trading for damaged goods, and then they will get their young quarterback.

  20. What bothers me is IF the Colts are purposely tanking the season for that pick. I'm not saying they are but I am saying that their record is highly suspect and if evidence comes out that they purposely threw games to advance their draft position, the NFL should forfeit their 1st rd pick. The draft is set up so the worst team gets the best pick and this goes against the foundation of that. Ursla and Polian are both shady characters and I do not put it past them that this has all been orchestrated to beat the system.

I wonder that as well. I wouldn't put it past them to do that. On the other hand, maybe getting a team to play hard for just pride is more difficult than Sparano is making it look.

They kind of have a trump card here though. Luck could stay at school. He would have no other reason to but if it comes down to it he could stay and then Indy tanked the season for some other prospect. If I'm Andrew Luck and I decide I don't want to go to Indy because it looks like they're going to make me sit behind Peyton then that has to be something I think about. If you can't force a trade then you can give Polian the middle finger and stay at Stanford one last year. No way Indy's tanking two seasons in a row and getting away with it.

    I cant imagine A Luck...

Would want to go to Ind period! Either he sits right away or he replaces not only a HOF, not only the guy who built the Ind Colts, but also overcome being the guy who ran the icon out of town. Could you imagine the S* storm a rookie would have to overcome if we traded marino bc of him?? I know many will say Rodgers-Farve....and I get it, but not only was Rodgers not as highly touted as Luck but he dropped in the draft and thats the only reason GB took him. If everyone knew how good he would become (as Luck seems to) he never would have gone to that situation in GB. As Luck wont in Ind. Either by pre draft trade or like Eli....hmmm

i dont' know, my buddy has his own publix store and Mike Dee always shops at. They do talk and Manning is talked about in the the front office, but it seems
like they can also draft a 2nd round QB as well. Manning, Moore and a rookie. Depends on who they draft I have no problems with this. No talk of Sparano or Ireland staying or going.
