L M A O 9-7 never happen, hell i wouldnt want it to happen. We need this coach and his cronies outta here
Sometimes I feel like we as fans are kids who aren't ready to own a nice toy yet. This is one of those times. Man, we're ridiculous.
I think if we can finish 9-7, we have a legitimate shot. However I don't think we will finish 9-7... stranger things have happened I guess.
If they won two of these 3 games: at ****ty Browns, or didn't blow double digit leads against the Giants and Broncos, then they'd have a real chance, they would actually be ahead of the Jets if they hold on today if they didn't blow those games....but they'll probably finish between 5-11 and 7-9. Oh well.
Couple things wrong with this theory... -No way 9-7 gets into the playoffs -We beat 3 horrible teams! (yes I think the Bills are back to being horrible)
Guys, one game at a time. We can't think big picture quite yet. We gotta keep winning and let everything else take care of itself. The AFC East has to implode for us to make the playoffs right now.
I dont think anyone is foolish enough to think we are playoff bound.... But...its not like some arent curious what our shots are should we go 9-7.
dansby himself commented on going to a SB with AZ off their 9-7 record. who knows. either way its a fun ride while we are playing this hot
I'm not a believer for the playoffs this year but maybe next year. We still need a QB. Today's game was won because of special teams, and defense. Matt Moore was "effcient" and didn't make mistakes and thats nice and all but he's in now way the type of QB that can put the team on his back the way some of these younger guys like Andy Dalton and Cam Newton can. We need a QB like that to mesh with the defense and other positives and we will be a playoff team.
This. Had we beat Denver and Cleveland (like we should have) then we might have had an outside chance of making it.
you mean the same cam newton that threw 4 ints today? im 100% for drafting a QB regardless of our final record but matt moore definetly had a part in todays win.... a BIG part..... what are you talking about ? were we watching the same game? yes the defense dominated finally but he has been ****ing OUTSTANDING last 3 weeks...
Hey, here's a thought - what does our record need to be for Sparano and Ireland to keep their jobs? I mean, say we go 8-8, do you think going 8-1 down the stretch deserves another shot for this regime? I mean, we all thought it was over, but it should it be over IF this happens? Just sayn'.

Probably 9-7 to even have a chance. Even if the second half goes really well it's still just another losing season in the end.
I get that, but if we keep winning (and winning impressively), I can see Ross giving them another shot, maybe using the lockout as an excuse for the slow start? I mean, it may have affected the Dolphins - for whatever reason - more than other teams. I want this regime out, but if they somehow finish this ultra strong, maybe it's not the best idea. They have to do it, though, first!
It would take a 9 game winning streak and everyone but the Patriots, Steelers, Ravens, and Texans (plus one AFC West team I guess) to finish 8-8 or below. The Bengals will likely lose to the Steelers, Ravens, and Texans. I think they'll slip up against the Browns or a NFC West team too. If we do our business, everything will fall into place. However I think it's very unlikely that we'll do our business and finish the season 9-7. I say that because I feel like there are three or four really good teams (Patriots, Steelers, Ravens, and maybe the Texans pending Schaub) in the AFC with a bunch of mediocre leftover teams. The Jets are a legitimate quarterback away from being a really good team, but until then... they're mediocre. The Bengals seem to be inconsistent along with the entire AFC West. The odds of us making the playoffs are a fraction of a percent, but I really believe that if we somehow manage to win out... things will fall into place for us. I don't think we're going to win out (predicting around the 6-10/7-9 region honestly)... but I also didn't think we would win 3 in a row after starting 0-7 so what do I know?
It will take a playoff berth for Sparano and his crew to survive... so basically win out or you're out IMO. I highly doubt that they can win out.
I wouldn't say Matt Moore was outstanding last week...0 TDs, 1 INt, 1 fumble. He's not better than Jay Fiedler was, and we should be striving for better than Fiedler. Moore is streaky, just look at him in 2009 then in 2010. We still need to draft a QB with our first pick, or trade up.
if we go 9-7, not only will we be missing the playoffs but Sparano/Ireland will also be drafting a RT to protect Matt Moore next season. please don't let this happen.
You know whats funny, Paul solai's reaction in that gif..Odie getting no love from his teammates after doin the peewee..lol
If the Dolphins finish 9-7 punctuated with a solid vengeful beatdown against New England, I think it would be very difficult for Ross to cut ties with Ireland and Sparano, playoffs or no. ...I mean, if people are willing to forgive them after THREE nice games, imagine what nine in a row does. Plus, as you say, they have the convenient excuse of a jacked-up offseason along with a whole new offensive coaching staff.
I can't imagine anyone forgiving them for a 3-7 start, but I agree that my resolve would be tested after nine in a row.
To save their jobs I think they would have to win a playoff game. Really small chance since 9-7 might not be enough to make it to the playoffs in the first place.
What stranger things have happened in the NFL than a team that started 0-7 winning their last 9 games and making the playoffs? Id say thatd be at the top of the list.
