The worst part about this game is that I passed on going because I thought it would be a blowout! fml
I think Oregon is gonna get 2nd spot in the title game assuming LSU wins out. Not a fan of rematches in the title game, though. But hey, that's the BCS for you.
And LOL @ Boise. The one year where they most likely would have played in the title game, they lose their first conf home game in nearly 13 years.
Well if it makes you feel any better.. I passed on working for ESPN for the game because I didn't feel like it was worth the trip (money-wise).
Why the hell would you pass up the experience?! Anyway......damn good game by the clones. Well...not a great game....missed FG, 70 Yard Pick 6, fumble in the red zone, but in the end they got it done. Was a blast to watch.
You should know by now..never...EVER write off a Paul Rhoads team.... At Nebraska 09 At Texas 2010 Iowa 2011 OKSU 2011 Now, I harbor no illusions for ISU becoming championship contenders anytime soon, but Rhoads has them playing great football in Iowa. I hope the guy stays, because if he does, I can see him building a solid program that could compete for a top spot in the Big 12 every few years. It's such a blast to watch his team. I grew up as a cyclone and Miami fan, and as a result I've become pretty accustomed to seeing my team get kicked in the face. I mean seriously, ISU couldn't be any worst through the 90's, and even when they had their run with Seneca Wallace it was like they were toying with us. 1 FG away from a Big 12 North Championship two years in a row, blow outs every few weeks. When we were ahead we were praying that we could hold on for the win. Rhoads teams aren't like that. They're scrappy as hell. I was at the Iowa game earlier this year...an old cyclone team mails it in when the Hawks jump up early like they did. This new cyclone team fought tooth and nail to get what I considered their biggest win in program history. That of course was just topped tonight with their win over OKSU....different team same script. ISU down 24-7 in the 3rd, and they rally to win in double OT. Doesn't get any cooler than that
My first question to you is, do you watch much college football? Because UT '10 probably isn't a win worth bragging about. Neither is the Iowa win as of now. I was at the 09 Nebraska game, and that ISU team was dog****, they were aided by 8, yes 8 turnovers(a new school record). There were a LOT of weird bounces in that game. Most of those 8 TOs were in the redzone, some were picks, some were fumbles at the goal line. And don't even get me started with Niles Paul. Where you and I agree is that Rhoades does so much more with less. If Bo Pelini ever leaves(more than likely IMHI) I hope Rhoades is on the short list of candidates that Tom Osborne looks at.
Classic trap game with Oklahoma coming up. Not to mention the tragic death of the women's basketball coach and assistant.
He is still one of the better Qb's in College. He's thrown a few picks lately because he tends to stick his eyes on two routes. But I'd take him in a milisecond. He would instantly be better than any Qb we've had since Marino imo (besides one season with CP)
Lol, I'm a dolphins fan, what else do I have to do during football season than watch college ball? Yeah, Iowa State beat Nebraska AT Nebraska.....you pointed out that Iowa State was the benefactor of 8 turnovers, but neglected to mention that they were without their starting QB, and one of their all time leading rushers that weekend. Iowa State won a game at a stadium that they hadn't won at in over 30 years with backups. Say what you want about the game, but that was a big win for the program. They very nearly won the following year in Ames when they lost in OT off of a failed 2 pt. conversation. I also saw Texas last year....specifically I saw Texas give up after Iowa State gave them their 3rd loss. Iowa State had never beaten Texas at Texas. That was a historical first for the program. At the point ISU rolled into town Texas still had a lot to play for. After that loss, not so much. The Iowa win this year was also big. Not as Iowa has a stud team this year ( its a mediocre year for them, not a great year), but Iowa ranking is misleading in the case of an interstate rivalry. Both teams get amped for this game, and play above their level (just ask Hawkeye fans). Iowa State won its first game against Iowa in 3-4 years despite fumbling in the redzone twice, on their own 18 once, and missing....was it 3 fieldgoals? Iowa's not a stud team this year, but they're still a quality team. As I said before, Iowa State doesn't win any of the above games in the past. And they certainly don't shell Texas Tech like they did two weeks ago (beating them at home...another first) And then Iowa State gets the win at home against OKSU despite missing a FG, throwing a pick 6, and coughing it up inside the 20. This team has historically been a doormat program, and in a year where they've had one of the hardest schedules in the Nation, they became bowl eligible in a prime time game against the #2 team in the nation. SO....I do watch a lot of college football, and as I said, they're not National Title Contenders, but they're playing good football at Iowa State right now.
Yea, I keep hearing this too, and I don't buy into it too much. Sure the plane crash was an added distraction, but that's usually the sort of thing that teams rally around, not collapse over. They have two weeks off coming up to prepare for Oklahoma and neglected to "look over" Texas Tech when they blew them up for 66 points (a team ISU thumped two weeks ago). So I don't buy this argument. I will however entertain discussions of it being a short week, and Iowa Stare having two weeks to prepare.
The Davis brothers still have eligibility? I kid, I kid. They ran like 5 plays against Nebraska with success. Yes they won the game in quite possibly the most ugly display of football I have ever witnessed. You just cut the legs off your own argument by saying they won despite huge mistakes, and said they are playing good football. Isn't good football about NOT making the mistakes you listed? not trying to flame, just trying to figure out what the definition of good football is in your opinion
I said good ball, not efficient What I mean by that, is those are quality wins. Those games had some great play calling in them, and excellent execution. They've been a blast to watch for the first time in my life. It's a fun brand of football they're playing, and they're hanging with some very good teams. I like that they're not plying conservative, not playin scared, and not giving up when they're down.
Looks like it. Everyone has lost this week. I wouldn't be surprised if VT jumps to 4 even though their schedule is a damn joke. Anyways, Boise has to be kicking themselves.
Stoops is an idiot, though. Baylor wants to go to OT with 45 secs left and you call a timeout. FULLY knowing that Baylor can drive down the field in seconds.
