I've been saying for weeks that I think a 2 win team has a fair to good shot at getting the #1 pick. Miami won a game, and could very well win #2 this Sunday. Regardless, I still see them in the running for Luck, and if they do not get him, getting the best young QB we have seen here since Marino.

Indy has Jax and Carolina at home next two games, and both are winable. St Lou has Cleve, Seattle, and Zona at home the next 3 games, and all 3 are winable. Jax, Zona,Seattle, Carolina, and Minny are still in the running as well. Some of the point spreads were not yet available.

    Indy (0-9)- Jax -3 Carolina, @ NE

    Miami (1-7)- Wash +4 Buff, @ Dallas

St Louis (1-7)- Cleve -2, Seattle, Zona

    Jax (2-6)- @ Indy @ Cleve, Houston

    Zona (2-6)- @ Philly @ SF, @ St Louis

Seattle (2-6)- Balt @ St Louis, Wash

    Carolina (2-6)- Tenn +3 @ Detroit, @ Indy

    Minny (2-6)- @ GB Oakland, @ Atlanta

    Game Of The Week

    Jax @ Indy +3

I hit my picks on this game the first two weeks, and am going with Indy this week.

I see your point and although Indy has weak opponents in Jacksonville and Carolina, Indy's only averaging 16 points a game while allowing 35.38 points.

Jacksonville is averaging a ridiculous 12.25 points a game while allowing 20.375 points a game.
Carolina is averaging 23.375 points a game while allowing 25.875 points a game.

While Jacksonville's offense is anemic, Indy's defense is non-exsistent. Carolina on paper is just that much better of a teach.

Indy's only chance at winning is going to be against Jacksonville...but I wouldn't hold my breath

The Rams beat the Saints...with A.J. Feeley at the helm. Our offensive line looked competent last week. Anything can happen in the NFL.

We are NOT out of the Andrew Luck Sweepstakes!

In addition to the next three weeks, Indy also has Tenn and again @ Jax. They do have some talent, their QB could have a couple of VG games, they could get a bunch of TO's, who knows? Going 0-16 is as tuff as going 16-0.

    The Colts are tanking.

Just watch what they are doing. They make absolutely no effort to fix their team. The Dolphins are out there signing QB's, CB's, working guys out.....

the colts are content losing. they are tanking. it's planned out.

think about it...... you are the Colts owner...... do you really want to suffer what Dan Gilbert suffered when the Cavaliers lost LBJ? The value of the franchise dropped by about $200 million overnight. Imagine the Colts with no Peyton Manning, no franchise QB, no Andrew Luck (who ALREADY sells Colts jerseys).... and a losing team on the field.

They are tanking. The Dolphins are just bad, but we try. Get it out of your head. The #1 pick is gone.

The Colts are not tanking on purpose. they just plain suck. IMO, even with Manning, they would have struggled to be a winning team this season. Colts management let that defense get really old and crappy over the last couple of years.

IMO, Miami is a better team than the Colts. In fact, I don't think Miami's talent across the board is all that bad. If Miami added a franchise QB, a ball hawking FS and an average RT then they're a SB contender in the AFC (assuming that the coaching knows how to use those pieces). That being said, I have no doubt that the Colts are more than capable of winning a couple of games this year. In the NFL, the better team doesn't always win b/c the talent gap between even the best and worst teams isn't that large and b/c the ball can take funny bounces. There's still a long way to go and anybody who claims to know what will happen is full of crap.

Well Curtis Painter is no longer the QB, probably only gets worse for them from here.

I'd rather see us play with some pride and fight through these games than suffer loss after loss without being competitive. Good fortune will come to us if we do this. I like Matt Barkley and Robert Griffin almost as much as I like Andrew Luck. It's not as if the top three picks will all be QB's. If the Rams end up in the top 3 they will almost certainly be looking at offensive line or a defensive player. We will be in position to draft a QB regardless (if we want to).

Whoever gets the #1 pick may affect the other QBs we can choose. Say for example Indy gets Luck and either drafts him or trades him to some team like the Redskins (Dan Snyder seems like the type to pay a lot to get Luck). Does that mean the Rams pass on a second tier QB? Maybe Jax and probably Carolina.

I am just saying there might not be quite the same demand for QBs not named Luck. Now we just need to hope those QBs want to enter the draft this year.

Chances are that the top 5 picks will come from these 8 teams with 2 or fewer wins. Aside from almost half the season left to see who ends up where, many other things come into play when the year is over for Miami's future QB.

As you mention, Luck, Jones, or Barkley could stay in college. The Peyton Place drama has yet to unfold. Carolina has Cam, and will not take a QB. Rams have Bradford, Zona has Kolb, Minny has Ponder, and the Jags have Gabbert. They could go for Luck but doubt Jones or Barkley.

Miami and Seattle are the only two in dire need of a QB, although a few others may trade up. IF we do not get the #1 pick, our future QB may not be decided until draft day.

The race for the #1 pick isn't over yet.

Couple weeks back we're talking about how historically bad Miami is. We're talking about how the Rams aren't even coming close to competing in these games. Go back a couple weeks further and we're talking about how awful the Chiefs are as they're getting completely blown out three weeks in a row, we're talking about the Chiefs being full-on in the Suck For Luck race.

Things change. Scheduling and circumstances help things change.

With the new rules about practice schedules during the bye, teams are a lot worse coming off the bye than usual. Teams that collectively have a 0.521 record are more like 0.458 following the bye, whereas in the past I believe teams after the bye are typically well above .500. We played the Giants after their bye and they came out flat until Miami did it's traditional 4th quarter swoon. The Jags are coming off their bye, traveling up to Indianapolis. Blaine Gabbert just seems to regress every week. Anything can happen in that game.

And in the mean time Tony Sparano's Dolphins have been 4-10 (0.286) following a win in 2009 and 2010, and we'll be at home where we're something like 1-11 over the last 12 games. The Redskins defense is not the Chiefs defense. They will play us a lot tougher than the Chiefs did,

Speaking of the Chiefs, something I found that's interesting with respect to Miami being a typical "trap game" for Kansas City:

True, anything can happen. But the Redskins are just awful offensively under Beck and with all their injuries. 9 points could be enough to beat them. However, if we manage to lose, then yeah, I'll get back on the wagon.

I think the other thing to think about is STL getting that #1 pick. They lost to John Skelton yesterday. They would be a much easier trade mark than Indy, IMO.

Yeah something's not right over there. Sam Bradford is still sucking. Though to be fair, Skelton is probably better than Kevin Kolb...though only marginally so.

If the Fins do end up at say the third overall that's not the worst situation. Cleveland would have to make a heck of a leap for Barkley. Do they do it? I'm not so sure on that. Any surprise early entries possible this year? I'm looking at you Tyler Wilson.

Here's a crazy question Raf. You mention a franchise QB, FS, and RT bringing us to SB contention. IF Indy decides to trade a healthy Peyton, as some have speculated, do you go after him?

I wouldn't b/c I think that injury is a time bomb. I also think that this draft has several franchise level talents and getting a guy with a longer window is better than getting a guy with a 1 - 3 year window.

I also would not be surprised if they end up releasing Peyton.
