Well, he has gone from multiple Int's vs the Jets, to none vs the #2 D in the NFL at generating int's. His attempts have thankfully went down from about 33 per gm in his first two games, to about 25 pg, in the last two His YPA has been going up the last two games from a flat 6.0 to 6.3 vs the Giants to today's game when he was hitting stuff down the field with scoring drives of 3, 4 and 6 plays. His TD to int ratio now sits at 4-4, after being 1-4 for 2 gms. Last Dolphins Qb to toss 3 Td's in a game was Pennington vs the Chiefs in 08. Now, I do not think Moore is the answer to anything, I do think his trend is upwards with 8 games to go. Granted not a great statistical analysis as the stats from the KC game have not been posted up yet save for 17-23 for 244 3 Td's and a 146 QBR, my own observation is that MMoore can be a competent Qb if given time, he was not sacked today after being sacked 12 times or more in the prior 4 games, he also had all the weapons we had on offense in the arsenal today for the first time all season. The toss back tD to fasano came on an audible on the line that he himself made.
I think that is what makes him dangerous to the SFL scheme, he has absolutely nothing to lose by going down the field. Thing with Moore, and it is sort of plain, he works the middle of the field the most effectively, he does not really have the arm to power the ball, but he has good touch and timing, that TD to Marshall was a thing of beauty, his game reminds me of Pennington a little bit. Penny's football IQ is so much higher then Moore's though.
I have not seen him play in a few weeks but when I did see him play on Monday night I hated how he just locked onto one receiver almost every single time. Does he still do that? KP
He did do that on almost every play vs the Jets, but he seemed much more comfortable today. He was also given a ton of time/protection today. Aren't the Chiefs one of the worst teams at rushing the passer in the NFL? If so, I wouldn't get too comfortable with Moore's performance. IMO, he consistently inconsistent.
From what I'm hearing..sort of, Daboll gave him check off receivers this game and it worked out. 10 YPA today, which is outstanding for a Dolphins qb.
Look, he won today, but some of those passes were balloons, yes he is doing better than he did, but lets not get crazy. The difference today was the defense played well and we didn't have dropped passes.
I like Matt Moore, but to me he is only a solid backup until he proves otherwise on a consistent basis. That being said, kudos to him on an outstanding game today.
Not me NJ, he had one good game, even Joey Harrington had one good game. I am curious to see how well he does in the final 8 games, and also think he could be an ideal #2 Qb in 2012. We are in the 05 Dolphins situation, we have no shot at the playoffs, this is more or less seeing how well the fellas can do for the rest of the yr.
They remind me of the 06 Fins a bit too. They turn it on at some point and the D starts to gel and put up fantastic numbers. They play Washington and could be in the top 10 in points allowed again this year.
settle, they have a chance with washington, but outside of that? 2 w/the bills, then jets, pats, eagles (vick will eat them alive), dallas, pats. no worries.
I don't know about that one. We'll see how they look against the Bills. The Chiefs were not an easy team to beat and they throttled them. They have what it takes to beat Washington we'll see if they do.
Hali has been one of the very best pass rushers in the league this season. That our tackles shut him down comparatively well, was one of the high points of the game.
Moore has been up and down all season, not steadily improving, other than having one great game yesterday.
I know he has been dominant, and loved seeing Long back in good form, but it was the rest of the Chiefs players I was referring too.
05 they went 9-7 with that winning streak to end the yr, this time around, with the games up north in the winter I doubt we achieve that, but we can at least match Saban's last yr here. Another thing that I'd love to see is what I'll call "the Ghost of Gus Frerotte" put to bed, it bothers me that no Dolphins Qb has thrown for 20 Td's since Gus did it in 05, now whether MMoore can do that in 8 games of course remains to be seen, but I'd like to see him do it and he is 16 Td's short, or 2 Td's pr game. Statistically speaking, the D was better last yr then it was under Saban in either yr, the crazy thing is, the Saban era was the last time dolfans thought the team could beat anyone we played.
He did have one great game but if you look at his completion percentage, he has been doing quite well, he came in v SD and went 17/26 167 6.7 ypa 65% completions The next week v the Jets he had a terrible game 16/34 1 int 6.3 ypa 47% completons Since then: Den 22/33 197 1 TD 66% completions NYG 13/22 138 0 TD 59% Completions KC 17/23 244 3 Td's 76% completions Of the 5 gms he has played in, he has been north of the 63% line 3 times, 60% 4 times, and at 59% in the NYG game, that amounts to one drop, basically MMoore has been quite accurate for us, this while being the most sacked Qb in that time period, the Oline did a great job yesterday, but typically he was being sacked 3 times per game on average if the KC game was removed he would have been sacked 4 times per game on average. INOW, even under pressure he has been very accurate, take away that pressure, or give him a normal amount of protection, and he plays pretty damn well actually, even with the pressure 5 gms of 60% completions is solid. Should be interesting to see how he does with Clay and Bush both healthy and seemingly having found their roles.
