I'll say this and then I'll hang up. 1. Oliver Luck had just as much to do with Andrew's decision to stay in school as Archie Manning did Peyton's, if not more. 2. You question whether football is in this guy's blood or not, but his dad was a star quarterback at West Virginia, went on to be an NFL quarterback, and after his playing career was done he became the General Manager of the Frankfurt Galaxy, then the Rhein Fire, then he became NFL Europe's President & CEO...and eventually West Virginia's Athletic Director. Andrew Luck grew up in a football family with football in his veins and he plays like it. There's nothing wrong with valuing getting your degree. And you say he's not learning anything valuable or getting much better by playing for a third year but I beg to differ. I see differences in his game.
I know you're a big fan of players athletic qualities, and how hard they work in the gym and how their bodies show that dedication. Do you like his bubble?
Nabo, Archie Manning is not an "idiot hick". Don't be so quick to judge people who don't talk like you.
Right. And Brits don't have bad teeth. (apologies to Simon) Allow me to clarify; AM is not an idiot because he's a hick; he's an idiot because he's an idiot. He just happens to be a hick. Who's an idiot.
Yes, Weedon is a fantastic passer. I know the age will knock him down in some team's view (meaning that if they were in the same draft Newton would go higher), but just on pure ability I would rate Weedon above Newton. And bear in mind that I was in favor of Miami drafting Newton. I really liked Newton as a prospect, but I like Weedon more.
I was wondering when someone would bring up Russell Wilson. The guy can flat out play. He's only 5'10" or 5'11", which knocks down his popularity, but Wisconsin OL is bigger and taller than the Packers OL, and he manages to find passing lanes. I wonder if he'll become more highly rated as the year progresses?
From what I have seen and read of RGIII I think he would be a very interesting option if Andy Reid were brought in as our HC. His offense would capitalize on his athleticims and arm strength and would get him out of the pocket minimizing his lack of height.
For the cheap seats.......Andrew Luck comes from money....... and not everyone plays for the $$$$$$$$ Weeden also had like 4 years of making 2nd round money, and a $565K bonus from the Yankees. Fun trivia fact, he was included in the Kevin Brown trade, but I digress, Weeden is another guy who is independently wealthy, his decision is different than most guys who come out early.
First of all, its not about the money. Even if Weeden is a millionaire, he shouldn't of came back last season because his NFL clock is ticking. 2nd of all, baseball contracts don't work by 'round. He got a 565k bonus and never made it past high A ball, which means he made absolute chump change for 4 years.
First, thanks for restating what I said. Already said it wasn't about the money in both cases, but again thanks for point that out. Second, doesn't sound like Weeden cares about his NFL clock, in fact he thinks his age will be an advantage http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsext...ctid=93&articleid=20111014_93_B1_CUTLIN481840
Weeden went back to school because the scouts gave him a bad grade (based on system, inexperience) and told him he could use the experience, and Mike Gundy told him the same, and also convinced Justin Blackmon and that safety to both stay in school, so Weeden wanted to try and win more by throwing to Blackmon. It was a weird decision to me, but in a way it might have been a sign that his football competitive juices are flowing better. He was accused of 'not caring' much in his early time with the Cowboys, while he was 3rd/4th string and just off his baseball career. Wanting to come back to school for another year with Justin Blackmon and Levy Adcock and maybe win the National Championship, in a way that shows he's starting to see himself as a big time football competitor...which believe it or not, wasn't something you should just assume with him.
Did anyone else see that serious injury that Broyles suffered. That knee....ouch....lots of tears on the sideline....doesnt look good. Feel bad for kid.
Barkley is leaning towards staying in college another year, but he said he will make a final decision after the season. So... don't count on Barkley. If the Dolphins "REACH" on a QB just because....we are going to get burned.
With SFL not looking good right now today .... Landry is without a doubt my #2 ... i think he is every bit as capable as Sam is/was coming out of OU.
