YPA was up, he was far more mobile, and he was showing far better touch on deep passes. He was really pretty good in 2011, not great, but much better, I do not believe for a second he quit on the team simply because this was his last best shot at proving he was a Starting Caliber NFL Qb to just let that slip away is just not something players will do, typically they play their best and play hurt in that situation. In my gut, I suspect he goes to the NYG this offseason.
Seven replies in 45 mins on a Friday night wasn't good enough for you? It's up to 44 now by morning. Miller's off the mark here. Henne was told no by two doctors then went to James Andrews. And then he shut it down. Clearly Henne is a wuss who got bad advice. That Andrews guy is a quack. Nobody respects him or takes him seriously.
Yeah, well the thing is a) Henne may not have had a choice. The staff could have decided that he'd miss too much time even with the injured non-throwing arm for him to make a difference to the team. b) who is Jim Miller...an ex-NFLer that was even less of a player than Henne has been. Or is he now a dr. since his playing days ?? Who, coincidentally was a tough guy that was oft injured during his career. c) Alzaguary probably prompted the remark. He is the biggest Dolphin hater media type in SFL (no, not that SFL, but So. Fla). d) What evidence does he use to back it up ?? I didn't hear anything but hot air coming from him....
Also I hate how a member of the media is attacked personally when he gives his opinion. Example - Jim Miller was a bum QB, who cares what he thinks! - Channing Crowder was a bum LB, who cares what he thinks! How about we attack what he said rather then talking about what he did on the field which absolutely has 0 relevance. These guys are members of the media now, their playing careers mean nothing on how well they report or like to stir things up. Like this.
Henne did indeed improve. But when that improvement is going from bad to not so bad, it's still not getting it done. I think that last drive in the Cleveland game is pretty much a microcosm for his career in Miami.
In 1999, Jim Miller became the first QB in NFL history to be suspended for substance abuse. I believe he revisited this substance abuse, and then some, before giving this opinion.
I heard in Thursday nights game how bad it was. Also http://www.thephins.com/forums/show...the-dolphins&p=1623584&viewfull=1#post1623584 I don't know. I am just going off what I am being told by the media. Unless you know Jimbo personally your probably doing the same thing.
Careful EJ is a Jr this year with (hopefully) 1st round pick next year. Hes playing for position in next years draft. Hennes contract was guarantee regardless if he played or not. Considering Henne wants continue his NFL career elsewhere (atleast away from Sparono) I don't blame him for getting the surgery.
It's really frustrating to even see the Phins release a statement. Just don't give it any relevance, it's like a top story on NFL.com now.
The thing I would have liked to seen in this thread is consideration of the source. It's not like he made good decisions about his health during his career. It's a tough guy, football mentality. He contends that Chad Henne made a BUSINESS decision. http://www.livestrong.com/article/4...-from-over-throwing-a-football/#ixzz1crf7V25S
BS... really? A college player, playing for a college eduction?!? Get out of here with that crap. Don't fool yourself, they're playing for cash... they've just got to wait a few years to get paid. Most of these kids, especially the star players aren't there for an education, theyre taking joke classes, theyre just there to play football, get recognized, get drafted and... GET PAID.
Jim Miller Twitter from two hours ago: Some can/will and have played with separated non throwing shoulder. Surgery is elective. Trading lump for a scar!
Henne showed more this season and he improved. If anyone can question that with O-line and what we've witnessed since needs to get a reality check. He's no quitter.
I don't think he mailed it in, but really?, if he did would you blame him? Not like he got a lot of love from the fans, deserved or not.
Right, the medical staff made it clear that Drew Brees wouldnt be an elite QB with that injury, the medical staff made it clear that the risk to Dante Cullpepper was minimal and he would return to form. I get it. What is there to doubt.
There is room for doubt if you want to second guess the medical stafff, but if they don't clear him to play, guess what, he don't play.
When you can't beat on a guy for his play call him a quitter. I'm no apologist for his play but there is a lot more blame to go around for those playing and coaching now than on Henne.
Screw Jim Miller. He was a fringe QB that sucked. I'm not a Chad Henne fan, but I hate it when players/people do this. I can ASSURE you that Henne, in a contract year in a career that he hasn't done well with would have given everything to play. He may not be the QB we thought he'd be, but he isn't a quitter and he's a tough SOB. The guy played with a tear in his MCL last year.
I seen that, but Jimbo Fisher said there was no structural damage from his MRI. It just doesn't add up to a grade three to me.
By the way, O/T here, but Jim Miller's show on Sirius NFL radio is by far the worst. And when he guest spots for those out, he makes their shows the worst. He voice makes him sound like an idiot and when he gives his opinion it only confirms it. Now, admittedly, the fact Jim Miller saying this about Henne is what inspired me to reply, but still. I just hate the guy's show. He's an idiot.
Really who cares what a has been that never really was says? It's a nonissue because the teams docs wouldn't give clearance. Which means he doesn't play. He didn't pack it in the team did.
Don't you wish we had Henne as back up to Henne instead of Moore. Henne had alot to play for I doubt he quit, and why the FO push for surgery, when they had a guy like Moore. Sporano was doomed the moment Henne went down.
Henne is a good guy and a legit NFL qb/backup, I wish the weight of this team wasn't on his back and I don't agree that he quit this season. Honestly if he were on a really good team or backing up a guy like Brees we wouldn't be talking about stuff like this. He's a competitor and a quality NFL qb, just not a savior.
