We all know that Miami will be taking a QB in the first round, although we don't know who or when that will be. There has been more info on Luck than any player I've ever seen coming out of college. What about the others? How do Barkley and Jones compare to Luck? Would they be considered legit #1 overall picks if not for Luck? Anyone else a legit top 5 pick?

I think Barkley is a legit #1 player taken if not for Andrew Luck. I don't hold Landry Jones in the same category. I actually wouldn't take him in the top 10. I think he's more of a bottom of round 1 type player honestly. I have just not been overly impressed with him. I think RG3 is another bottom of the first guy. When it's all said and done, I could see a guy like Ryan Tannehill going pretty high. His potential is sky high.

Scouts Inc have Luck #1 with a 99 grade. Jones at #3 with a 96 grade, and Barkley at #18 with a 92 grade. They are the only three they list in their top 32 players. I thought Brandon Weeden would be in there towards the bottom. Tannehill seems more like a high risk/high reward guy who would take more time to develop.

There are three quarterbacks in this draft that I am absolutely convinced should be top 10 picks. Those three are Andrew Luck, Matt Barkley, and Brandon Weeden. Weeden has the age issue attached to him, so as good of a passer as he is, he may not be taken that high. Landry Jones probably will. There are some things that I like about his game, and there are some things that I want to see more of. Right now, Landry is probably the most physically gifted quarterback as far as pure throwing talent goes. He's got a strong arm and is very accurate. Where he has issues is when the pocket starts to collapse on him. IMO, he doesn't have the feel for what's going on around him that Barkley and Weeden have. However, Landry averages 8.8 yards per pass attempt against winning teams. That number is right up there with Andrew Luck and is better than everyone else in the draft. Some will try to compare him to Sam Bradford, and some will try to throw the Blaine Gabbert comparison around as well. I think he is somewhere in between, and considering that Sam went #1 overall and Blaine went #10, I think it is safe to say that Landry Jones will end up going in the top 10. I think the Dolphins, Seahawks, Broncos, and Browns will all be in play for him, and one of those could end up taking Weeden in the top 10 as well.

I have not seen anywhere near the amount of college ball I'm used to KB. I'm surprised that Weeden was left out of the top 32 by Scouts. What are they seeing or not seeing in him?

Depending on how things shake out, I could see QB going 1 2 3 in next year's draft. Don't believe that has ever happened.

    It is likely age related.

I knew Weeden was older because of his trying to play baseball. Had no idea, until now, that he is 28. That makes a big difference.

If you can find UD's breakdown on Brandon Weeden from last years offseason.....go watch it.

Me personally....there is Luck, and then Weeden. The age for me is not an issue, because I believe he is a legitimate day one starter, and one that will thrive early on.

Anyone see or hear anything on Luck, Jones, and Barkley staying in school? All three are Juniors, and I'm wondering if at least one may wait a year, especially if they are not projected top 5.

Hard to believe that I am watching Andrew Luck for the first time this year, and that he looks far from good, let alone great.

Dunno, I saw him take a cheap shot to the chin from #5, and he pretty much just ignored it on the wya to another TD drive. Wish they actually showed the whole game here.

I've never been on board the Andrew Luck bandwagon and feel the weakness of the conference he plays in artifically inflates his numbers making him look better than he really is. On the other hand, I said all the way back in July I feel Landry Jones is going to be the next QB star that comes out of college. He plays in a tougher conference and has already broken the passing records set by his predecessor and Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford.

While it's probably a foregone conculsion that Luck will be the one drafted first...and maybe Weeden and Barkley ahead of him, I just know deep dow in my bones that 3 years from now, when we're talking about great QB's in the NFL, we're going to be talking about Landry Jones and not Andrew Luck.

Of course this depends on whether or not any of these QB's are drafted to teams who offensive schemes fit their talents. If any of these QB's are drafted to teams in which there is a huge learning curve due to the difference in offensive philosophy they're accustomed to playing in, we may very well be saying the class of 2011 is a bust.

I dunno, I am by far not a SFLer, but I have seen him make some sick throws, like I said I aint a SFLer, but I also know I'm not the one to prognosticate who's gonna be the man two or three years from now.

But I think we can all agree that Andrew Luck is going to be a great NFL QB, no?

No, but I don't see how someone can say he's not a great prospect and the best one in the draft at his position.

If we're judging QB's by the conference they play in, Jordan Rodgers will be better than his brother and Jarret Lee is a first round pick.

I can't make up my mind, which prompted this thread. They are both very close, a little concern on Barkley's height at 6'2" but, he has mobility, a little concern on Jones being mostly in a spread O but, he has the stronger arm.

I would be fine with either, although I do think one will stay in school if not expected to go near the top. It's not the contract money as much as endorsement money. Just a thought.

here is why i have been pressing for Weeden , you all know that there are football players who are still playing in the nfl at the age of 40 and barring injury Weeden is one of them. why ? he has work ethic and when he makes a mistake he make a big comeback and he has leadership quality which the dolphins havent had at qb in a while.

he makes good throws , yes he makes mistakes but he is just as accurate as any player .

this age thing pisses me off because we could take a qb who is younger and then he could have a injury just as easy as Weeden.

you have to listen to Weeden talk to really understand why he can be the man under center .

You, and others, may be right here but, I do not see a snowballs chance in hell that Ross will allow "whoever" to take a 28 year old QB with the first pick. Just not gonna happen.

Think any of the "Big Three" will stay in college?

Barkley is a very accurate and smart quarterback. Very good kid as well. Perhaps too "Christiany" for some people, who hate that for whatever reason. Landry Jones, sucks. System Quarterback. Playing against NFL defenses won't be able to hide his scattershot accuracy and questionable decision making the way that system and those Big 12 defenses can. Chad Henne 2.0.

its a crazy idea but i would take a qb with the first pick and if weeden or someone else who we value as a good qb i would take a qb in the 2nd also. with the contracts beeing the way they are now you can do that.

I just think if we end up with the 2nd pick we'd be reaching for any QB left on the board. So why not take the bonafide stud WR and pick a QB in the 2nd. Doesn't have to be Moore (since I'm the only one around here who thinks he's any good). But Weeden, or RG3 or Osweiller or Tannehill are all good options at the pick #34.
