Well We all know that Miami is the most disliked team in the afc east but with Mike and Mike acussing the phins of tanking the season to get Luck it seems like no one acusses the colts or the cowboys or even cincinattii of tanking it , so why is Miami the team that is be accused of doing something that other teams had done over and over ? Could it be that espn is trying to destroy the miami orginzation in order to go give the other afc east teams more prestige ? I cant beleive that to be true but with the venom towards miami multiplying It sure seems like espn is trying to get a investigation started. My opinion in public we shouldnt want to finish in a minus 500 season but in private the team should hope for the oportunity to get Luck.with Goodell being a puppet of Kraft I think Miami needs to be carefull and not force the comish to take any picks away from us or it will be like the death penalty in college football.a side note I hope that Miami can trade down and get 5 extra draft picks and get a tight end , another big time wr and and get a big time ccornnerback and then look at QB Weeden who is able to make most of the throws a qb is asked to do .so back to the subjet is espn just trying to screw the phins orginazation or is this two yardbirds running their mouths to please the afc east rivials fan base ?
Because Andrew Luck is one of the best QB prospects of all time and has created a huge buzz. If Cam Newton was the guy coming out, no one really mentions it. And the same goes for the talk about him refusing to play for another team instead of the one that drafted him. It's talked about more than it should because of the type of prospect he is.
While I enjoy the show, I always take their Miami talk with a grain of salt. Greeny is a Jet's fan so he will always root against Miami. And Golic ended his career in Miami after being screwed over by the organization. I'm sure they both consider themselves unbiased, but most everybody does and it's almost never true. I've heard Golic say negative things about the Miami fans, for example.
I wouldn't give them that much credit. We are the new Cincinnati Bengals, so everything we do is inherently up for ridicule in people's minds.
Mike and Mike are irrelevant. Can we please stop giving them credit, as if their words and statements had any sort of meaning or impact? If ESPN aired a show where Muppets draw straws to determine which teams are the best, it wouldn't be relevant just because it's on ESPN. Same thing here: Mike and Mike don't count just because they're on ESPN.
I don't think it's ridiculous to make that accusation. The same could apply to a few teams over the last two seasons. There is a fine line though, between trying to lose and not trying to win.
Publicly accusing a billion dollar entity of what is essentially corruption, and ripping off their customers...sounds like slander to me.
Anyone wanna accuse the Panthers of doing the same thing last year when Luck was supposedly coming out? They were horrendous
I'm shocked that people actually still pay attention to ESPN honestly. Listening to Mike and Mike is like taking financial advice from a 5 year old. I can't stomach any of it radio or TV. Unless of course I'm forced to have to watch a game on there.
It's easy to do some stats and see if this year is out of line with the teams at the bottom of the standings and overall records relative to other years and the answer is no. It appears that the win totals of the worst teams will be in line with most other years. Last year was actually the closest to being an anomaly with the worst teams having better records than usual.
For the record and for the sake of full disclosure, Mike and Mike were also saying the Colts were tanking it in the same segment. Listening to it yesterday I took it as tongue in cheek.
Mike and Mike simply put together some of the moves, this offseason and season that might support the accusation of the organization purposely tanking the season for the coveted #1 overall pick....let's see.... 1) you could say this might have started the moment that Jim Harbaugh said he'd rather stay on the left coast back in January... With the looming lockout, there was no longer any point to change coaching staffs. 2) At that point, the current guys (Sparano and his staff) were rendered 'lame ducks' and lost any teeth they may have had with the organization, despite the contract extension... 3) Ireland could have used some of our future picks to move up in the 2011 draft to get a better player or QB...he didn't. 4) FF to August, Ireland made the move for Orton and it's widely reported that Ross nixed that idea because of the cost ? Maybe, maybe not. 5) It appears no other moves or feelers are put out to acquire any other QB. Decision made to stick with Moore as the backup. 6) FA was rather quiet for us. Bush and Burnett were the high/low lights. Crowder was dumped. What was the reason for that ?? Because of Burnett ?? I don't think so...there's more there, given that Crowder has been hammering the regime at every opportunity he gets... 7) They acquire Bush and apparently promise him he'll be the feature back. Even the least of fans can see that likely won't work. Do we change things up ?? No... 8) Despite the coachspeak from earlier in the offseason, Sparano really doesn't do things differently on offense. There are minor changes to the O with Daboll, but we are still a run first team. 9) Things start off badly for the team, despite a decent showing by the O in the season opener. However, as we've progressed from the PS, things continue to worsen. Davis hurt for 4 or 5 games, the decision to force Jones in as the FS, Thomas hurt, etc. 10) Henne knocked out and there is still an option to acquire Orton but no move is made. Decision to stick with Moore. ***NOTE: I am very, very glad that they didn't make a move to acquire Orton. I am not now, nor was I ever a proponent of that move. IMO, that would have certainly set the organization back, whether Sparano is here next season or not..*** 11) Bye week comes and no move made regarding the staff, despite a continued fade from mediocre to poor team performance... No changes in personnel, no changes of starters. What direction is this team going in ?? Fans don't know... 12) Sparano gets the dreaded "Vote of confidence" from Ross. 13) Dissension starts to leak from the player ranks. Comments by Marshall, Bess, Burnett, Bell and Dansby sound ominous of Sparano starting to lose the locker room. I don't think he has just yet, but it could come at any time now...minus a win... 14) Potentially, suspiciously maybe, Gruden signs an extension with ABC that may preclude him from leaving at least this coming year ?? 15) Reports of Ross making contact with Cowher. Naturally, it's denied and rightfully so, whether it took place or not. Could he have also made contact with Gruden and that's how the extension from ABC comes about ?? You tell me...is there not reason to believe that Ross has decided that not doing anything is better than trying to fix the leaking ship ?? Now, let's be honest...many of these things could be coincidence or things that had to be done at the particular time they were done. But there is a lot of evidence that Ross is in the 'do nothing' mode until this season is over which to the media, coaches, players and fans equates to tanking the season purposefully....
Of course we are tanking the season now. Why else would Ross not have fired Sparano? At 0-4, the season was in the toilet...
Its just verbal diarrea .The fans may be tanking the season but the players and coaches are not. They have to audition for their future jobs and no one likes a quitter . I think they are overthinking the situation. Why dont they say that we really suck which is closer to the truth. On the other hand the Colts really do look like they are tanking the season.....
We are not "tanking". Does anyone really think Sparano is trying to lose games so the next guy is set up with a franchise quarterback? This is the NFL. Every player is killing it because he does not have a guaranteed contract. If you are not trying to do your best you can get seriously injured playing this sport. Anyone think Ireland is trying to lose games? He built a crappy team on purpose and got all the payers on board and the coaches on board so they can have the #1 pick? What does that do for him? If they are bad enough he is fired. We are not tanking, we are just bad.
accusing us of tanking the season is actually a compliment. it assumes we could actually win a game with our players
ESPN is a joke from a reporting standpoint for the most point. They are an entertainment organization (see the Lebron fiasco) and need to create buzz. The bigger the buzz the more sheep watch their ****. So basically they put out sheep ****.
Greeney is an *sshole. He predicted miami would win 3 games and before halfway mark we have no wins and we're tanking the season? What a *ick. Meanwhile colts were predicted what? 10 wins? And they are 0-7? But they aren't tanking. Listen, its all because they all know miami wants a franchise qb since Marino retired. So they can't help themselves being *icks about this. I would pummel that 80lb weakling if I see him.
At this juncture what good would come? Will these players suddenly respond to a new coach or are they just mailing it in ?I think right now we don't have the players to perform at a high enough level to win consistantly but I don't think it's a lack of effort on the them. Who are they going to make the interim coach? It would most likely come from within and I can't see anyone there doing anything different or better.
I could care less what ESPN thinks, feels, or reports. That network jumped the shark about 5 years ago.
I dont know HOW you could forget....................the Dolphins sign Losman to be the back up QB......good gracious what a signing. When I heard THAT.........I started to wonder if ALL OF THIS was on purpose.
have they ever had a pop at Detroit for being perrenial suck merchants? They had Barry Sanders once for crips sake! Now they have a QB and they are contesting.. Hmmmm.
Making bad decisions doesn't mean you did anything on purpose. Ross and Ireland screwed up this year but honestly the notion that they did it intentionally to get the number one overall is just silly. I think letting the team and coaching staff ride the season out isn't tanking, throwing away draft picks or pursuing stop gap Qbs, etc is detrimental to the team's future. A owner should not be suspected of tanking a year because he won't spend money or draft picks foolishly just to appease idiots who think we might be tanking. He made the right call not going after Orton and making bad trades in order to make a horrible team slightly less horrible. Ross should be doing what is best for the organization not what appease Mike and Mike or idiot fans.
you would think this doesn't need to be said, but it does with the morons {jaworski} that are out there that don't get it.
I used to listen to that show before I got tired of his voice. It was like Chris Collinsworth's, which kills me.
