According to Schefter and Mort, Miami and SF were also interested in trading for Palmer but, the price got too high. Wonder how that would have gone over with the SFL fans.
would have equally pissed off every person on this board if we gave up even a 2nd round pick for him. I don't doubt that.
If Ross allowed this regime to give up any pick, for any player, at this point, it would make me go ballistic. These guys are dead men walking. Do not allow them to hamstring the next guys you bring in. On top of that... giving up multiple day 1 picks for a 33-year-old QB who hasn't practiced with a team since last December? When this next draft could turn out to be the most QB-rich in NFL history? OMFG... my head would explode.
Umm..... they didn't bite. What's the problem. Everyone here WANTED this deal to go down before the season.
Schefty's tweet says "dating back to last summer", meaning that Miami might have been interested in August and then perhaps again when Henne went down....nothing to read into anything here...things we all already figured....
Well, there are reasons why Crowder is saying Ireland did not get Tony the guys he needed to win this yr. Then again, this season was based on Chad Henne performing, he is not out, the season is in chaos from a strategy pov, adding Palmer, with his high cost, would not have made much sense, sooner or later you have to play the cards you are dealt as best as you are able, that is called "good coaching".
Umm... it isn't 'before the season' anymore. Do you really need it explained to you why this is a ludicrously bad deal for this team, at this time?
When did I say it was a good deal..... My point is you were probably one of the many that wanted this deal to happen and now you are *****ing about it despite the fact we didn't make the move. I certainly didn't want to do it now nor did I want to do it before the season..... Get it?
If we're talking about only a 2nd rounder, I'm not sure its a bad trade. There most likely won't be a QB as good as him available as a FA. He's surely a better QB than Matt Moore at this point, and I hope our next HC isn't content with Matt Moore.
You might want to check the way you talk to people. Seriously. I wanted the regime to stick with Henne all along. He was their guy. They should have to sink or swim with him, instead of trying to save their jobs by giving up draft picks for an older, injured, and disgruntled QB... I wasn't 'probably one of the many'... you get that? If you don't know... don't assume. It makes you look foolish.
