As a fins fan, I'm for whatever offense that puts up points and leads to W's. Remember we consistently had the top 5 passing offense with Marino and we still couldn't win a SB. Of course we had that stinker Olividatti but my point is there were some years where our D was top 15 and we still couldn't win. Shula brought us our only SB's with a great D and smash mouth f-ball..albeit in the 70's...LOL. My point being, the Fins should play whatever offense makes us SB champs. I don't care if we run or pass....just win baby.
Well, having Polamalu indicates it is likely that Cowher does understand the stopping the pass part of the winning equation.
I agree with mracer. Miami won with smashmouth in the 70s because every player executed his assignment and knew that if he didn't, Shula would sandblast him and make him run around the track until he dropped dead. It's about coaching and execution, no matter what offense the coach runs. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=25.767911,-80.196743
People like to say that, yet the evidence suggests otherwise. The clear cut two best teams in the NFL at this time are New England and Green Bay, both of which are teams that use multiple receiver sets, spread the field, and throw it around. Personaly, I'm interested in seeing someone that will not be afraid to use the quarterback in the running game and utilize the numbers advantage it gives you when it comes to blocking.
i don't know if what cowher does is necessairly conservative. going back to kordell stewart in 98-99 the run pass % was 50/50 then early in the decade he got tommy maddox and went pass happy. ben came along and to protect a young qb he ran the ball alittle more but in cowhers 3 yrs with ben he avg over 8 ypa. and in ben's 3rd year he passed more than run.
This is the first time I've ever seen anyone be more concerned with who is the next capologist and chief contract negotiator more than the next head coach. So as long as we have the best capologist, the head coach doesn't matter I guess.
Hey bud, been driving all thru oregon for the last week, what a beautiful state..Would like to get a log cabin up there by the city of ''Bend'' one day..drove thru the national forest to get to bend, forget the name, something like ''deshune National forest'', fell in love..makes you wanna live off the grid....with a satellite dish and a good wireless connection of course, lol.
damn it, nah Nobs I didn't, but I did do that 50 mile winding road that took me 2 hours to get thru...man, I just wanted to quit everything, and start looking for a space by the lake, take my kid out of school, and go full blown Grizzly adams..maybe open up a little smoked fish stand..
I prefer to tell everyone that Oregon is a terrible place and to never move there. Bend was much nicer before all the Californians started moving up there and driving real estate prices through the roof. Not far from Bend is Sisters, Oregon, and that's where Dan Fouts lives. That was such a nice quaint sleepy little town 30 yrs ago. Now it's getting ruined too. Ya can't stand in the way of progress, or so they say.
All this Shula talk makes me realize how great we had it as Fins fans. We need stability at the front office and HC position badly!!!
it really would be nice to see the dolphins to go to a diferent type of offense because we have been doing the same ole style of offense since jimmy so i think a change would be the ticket to a super bowl. how long has it been since Miami scored over 17 points ?
